Black Gold is visually chaotic; there's pipes and colors and this thingie and this other dojobber swooping down from over here, and it's just a big mess. Castle is full of what seems like wasted space. Just tighten things up a bit and calm down with the doodads and I think the maps would be better. This is kinda similar to what people were saying about Overpass and Cobble during Cologne; that they're just a little too big or too busy. Ambition is really nice but I'd also like to play on some more minimalist maps as well. Yeah I'd agree with your points about black gold, that's also the problem I had with the GO version of de_train; too many little details, like fence, metal structures and armatures that obstruct vision and make it difficult to see player models when still. The best competitive maps will probably always be very simple, but I don't think the operations are meant to propose competitive maps, rather some new and different stuff, so it's bound to kind of suck depending on your preferences ![]()

I've only played one game on Overgrown but honestly I didn't mind it. It feels like the most classic-esque of the maps in the breakout pool. The new maps are definitely a lot more chaotic than your average Dust II or Inferno, but I don't hate the fact that they're trying to push the boundaries a bit. Insertion can be a headache but it's also an interesting change of pace that really recasts how you have to approach the game. The one major issue I can see (bearing in mind that I'm not good at this game) is that for a lot of these maps will all kinds of wonky angles and wide areas, smoke grenades are just not big enough to be effective. Insertion is the obvious example, there is literally not a reason to buy smokes on that map that I can see, and flashbangs are also really hard to know how to use. On Black Gold you also have that problem because of the rigging that makes up the second level of the map, as well as the fact that some angles are just too wide. Haven't played the others enough to say with much certainty, but on Castle at least I feel like there's a similar issue. I dunno, maybe we're just moving away from a smoke-based meta, but it's frustrating having to watch 360 different angles at once, especially when you're used to covering just one.

I don't know... if the EN did indeed occur by pure luck from being randomly generated, then you may be able to convince someone that it's expensive by throwing catchphrases like "English motherfucker do you speak it" or something like that. I don't think so though =P
