So basically your statement is useless. Especially since when soloing you're matched up with other people your sameish rank. Often enough games with randoms basically end up being 1v5 (all the same rank) and I'm supposed to not downrank?
tl;dr shut your whore mouth :D The premise of the rank system based off ELO is that if you are better then your rank it does not matter how bad your team mates are. You will win more then you lose in the long run and rank up or lose more then you win and rank down(meaning you are not good enough to be that rank). It's funny I am also DMG and solo que 90% of the time. I have been as high as Legendary eagle solo queing. tl;dr you probably aren't as good as you think you are. So what you're saying is that my rank doesn't reflect my rank.
Valve MM isn't Elo (which is a name, btw, not an acronym) because Elo only works for 1v1. Adapted Elo systems are used in some places (Women's FIFA), but not all because they don't work as well as Elo (Men's FIFA), and even Elo has problems (long match history vs short match history).
There's also evidence that Valve's system is averaged over several games, mostly that there are promotions on losses and demotions on wins having been reported.
So yeah, when I do poorly because shit teammates can't cover where they are supposed to and instead rush and die leaving me to get flanked, I do worse than when I play with competent people whose habits I know. So yeah maybe you're better than me and can float LE while solo queueing, but you're still acting like a self entitled cunt.

That is why I said BASED off Elo. Anyways I am sorry it just gets annoying when everyone blames bad team mates for the rank.

Edit: Also, I am legendary eagle and I am absolute garbage at the game. My friend bounces between legendary eagle and legendary eagle master and he's like 20x as good as I am. I also play with another guy who is global elite on one account and sometimes goes 1:1 against DMG. The MMR in this game is all over the place.

You guys should make sure to join the TL:GO group. ^^

I am in the TL:GO group.

How is everyone so good at this game? I've been playing since beta, but I am still stuck in the gold nova ranks. no sign of improvement After that long in sc2 I already went up like 3 leagues. Is it possible, that my FPS is affecting me? I got around 40 lately (playing on laptop), lately it is worse every day for some reason. I feel like I would do better having 100+ fps.

Sometimes you have to learn to play with the mindset of it being a 1v5 and play greedy. You won't get better trying to play as a teammate when your teammates suck.

Does anyone know if there are any plans from Valve to increase the updaterate on the servers?
I just can't get the hang of the low rate, feels so weird to me, like delayed. The higher updaterate of the servers when I played a million hours on CS 1.0-1.6 is so imbeded in me I guess. Hope they will increase it.

40 FPS is seriously low, but I don't think it would hamper you from getting out of nova if you have the knowledge/skills.

Not really...? Care to explain your reasoning because no matter how I look at it I can find examples of CS being much easier than starcraft.

Care to explain your reasoning because no matter how I look at it I can find examples of CS being much easier than starcraft. As a guy who used to play CS competetively. I disagree with him.
The answer is not how hard is to reach the top but how many training it requires to stay at top and i can definitely say that schedule of the best CS players can as well be half of professional BW/SC2 players. It didnt feel out of place to have free time and then prepare to something just before tournament (bootcamping). I could not play for 2 days and after 3 hours i was already "at my skill level". Such behavior would be unthinkable in Starcraft setting, the strain from playing competetive starcraft coupled with how ridiculously high standards arose during BW Korea is immense.
I saw the brightest players of CS and i always felt they were like that from beginning (like Neo). It felt inherited more than trained, if you get what i mean. I saw the greatest players of BW and i understood they had to put 10-12 hour a day in team house seclusion to stay at that level (or in case of Flash minimum). It is somewhat a fault of teamplay, you can contribute as much as 1/5 of a team member can so there is less strain on you.
The gameplay of Starcraft is probably way more straining as well, the APM method (SC) vs Precision and reflex (CS) is just mind numbing difference on body, this is why every second Starcraft pro player has wrist problems. Said that there is still enough merit in CS to say, that players like Neo, Forest or even HeatoN will never happen again.
I know you said CS GO but it is not far from CS1.6 (or older).

Been having a ton of fun getting back into CS again. In High School I played CS all day everday and I got quite good playing with a team from CAL-O all the way to CAL-M.
Unfortunately after all these years of not playing any FPS games my aim has gone to absolute shit.,. I mean i'm AWFUL
still having fun tho I'm guessing the best way to improve my aim is to just grind DM games?

Its probably better that you didn't play so you aren't biased about how guns should work based on prior experience.

Curious, what is a DM map?

(Team)Deathmatch, you respawn after you die and you can choose your weapons instead of buying. Good for improving zour aim since you wont stay dead too long.

Ah okay thanks. Been trying to improve my play but it seems like grinding ladder games hasn't really helped me much >.>

Arms Race is a nice break from DM as well. I also enjoy Demolition. Casual games are great warmups for 10/15min before jumping into a competitive game.
|
I really liked Demolition in beta.. seems like not many people play it anymore. It was nice to play when you were short on time/messing around without commitment.

lol
CSGO is so easy to pick up. Someone that just bought the game can kill an experienced player 50% of the time within 1-2 months of playing without even knowing anything about proper movement, positioning or crosshair placement. Does that happen in sc2?
