Don't feel like trying the new map with the devour boss, and if you get devour mobs on a low level map you can just skip it without losing much. Piety can also drop lots of goodies. Ah i see, i didnt realize i should wait that long to do maps hehe. Thanks for the info.
You definitely could start earlier, some maps are pretty much foolproof, like Grotto. It's just that you get such good amount of xp/gear in lunaris3 so that until you're strong enough to steamroll low maps you will just progress slower overall.
Just remember to watch out for the blue whippers with powerful crits in lunaris3. Almost 2shot me trough 20k armor

And then I realized that I had already died and so my portal back into the boss instance had expired.

Hey guys. I was playing during the beta in HC as a 24 marauder. I logged in today to give the game another try and all my characters are naked. Does anyone have any gear to help me get back on my feet? Did my account get hacked? Were characters just wiped or something?

Heya, started PoE today as I had some free time and so far I'm loving it! Playing Domination as a duelist on Europe, I tend to get lag spikes and that's kept me away from HC since d2.
Concocted a shield + 1-hander elementalish build for myself before starting and am needing quite a few skill gems, got about 10 or so extras myself also to give out, and haven't really had the drop luck to get chaos orbs or anything really valuable to pay the crazy prices people ask for them...

completely new to the game and i guess i'm in softcore mode. trying to follow the spectral build kripparian had in his video, but so far i'm using a bow and has like 180 dex and 20 str with no sword skills to use. i think i fucked up bad lol

I am going for dual ice spear totems, dual curse. except for my totems im gonna use cold to fire and im gonna grab avatar of fire
so ill be shooting fire spears wit dat ice spear pierce and crit. get some + spell damage, + ele damage, + fire damage, + cold damage.. and my damage should be nuts!
the hard part of the build is survivability though.. im actually not sure how I am going to survive lol. i suspect i will be able to instantly wipe screens and kill bosses easy but if i get caught off guard im dead

Grace vs. Determination math of exile
The basis for this was an IR/US character and which aura would be more efficient to run. Map'ish level character will be used and probably a lot of extrapolation. I'm combining armor/ev (hereby called armor) into one stat for the purposes of making the math simpler. If you're a Ranger then you probably have evasion only nodes which would skew the results further into Graces favor. We'll also have to do a bit of guesswork if we want to use a jade and a granite. The build I'm using will not have any increased aura effect either.
Base stats/passives
1500 armor from gear (all ev gear)
36% increased armor from passives
3000 armor from granite
100% increased armor from ironskin
3000 ev from jade
100% increased ev from reflexes
Determination level 20 = 1.4 more armor
Grace level 20 = +2016 armor (evasion)
Determination with single flask = (4500*2.36*1.51) = 16036 armor
Determination with granite and jade = (3000*2.36*1.51) + (4500*3.36*1.51) = 10691 + 22831 = 33522 armor
Grace with single flask= (6516*2.36) = 15378 armor
Grace with granite and jade = (3000*2.36) + (6516*3.36) = 7080 + 21894 = 28974 armor
So basically auras are balanced and there isn't a statistically significant difference in running grace or determination ^_^
edited to fix Determination post buff multiplier. The armor difference still isn't significant though. At higher armor values it is probably worthwhile to use Determination over Grace, but the difference probably wouldn't do anything in practice. Having 5k more armor when you're in the thirty thousand area doesn't really do anything because armor stacking sucks.

you could find a meatshield templar/marauder and just party with them most of the time. \
edit: and now I can't play. game keeps dropping every few minutes. :|

REEEEEEEEEEP, died to Dominus chaos minion in Cruel. Was level 59 Spec thrower......popped a TP and then my comp just lag spiked and I couldn't get in.
Fucking shitty way to die.

You really always have to read the rares' affixes.
I nearly got blown up by a bear as well. Survived with ~1% life. Apparently the damage of the explosion scales with the damage of the monsters auto-attacks or something like that.

Welp... this game is driving me crazy right now. Started playing again after about a month or two break before release and have been dealing with massive desync issues constantly, leading to a HC RIP on act 3 normal (lol). It's desyncing so much that I'm struggling to even get to the top of the Sceptre of God, let alone survive the Dominus fight.
And now, I just worked my way painstakingly up to the top now and just trigger the fight with Dominus stage 1 and the game crashes. Logged in again and my portal is gone... Arrgh!!
That said, I realise that the crash may possibly be my computer, but I don't know why. I've never had PoE crash on me (not that I can remember), even playing since the beginning of beta and my spec is fine, eg. I can run BF4 fine etc.
edit - just spotted this post - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/575351/page/1/#p5102694 . Feel a bit calmer now.

anyone got a lvling bow around lvl 30? kind of stuck with a lvl14 or something bow for a while and progression is becoming a pain.
