trappers are new and are extremely fun to play in my opinion; I don't know the builds but you can either use the new trap nodes littered across the shadow/ranger areas, or do an Iron Will Blood Magic str based trapper (Kripp considers this to be better).
there's the chaos damage build, which was supposed to be changed up with new patch to allow scaling from passive tree; it seems like this update has been pushed back. build linked here: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/374672
Explosive arrow is a very staple build but definitely plays different compared to other builds and is quite strong. Another staple yet non-standard build is Flicker Strike. I don't know much about these builds but you can search the forums.

Yup, seems like the guys with the best download speed get a headstart. Not that I mind it too much, I've never played a game release from the first second, always half a day later or so. Gonna be like 2-3 hours later this time too, very bad internet connection in comparison to what's standard for most people.
Also you can already somewhat check out the skill tree from videos of Mors and Kripps stream of the Alpha server. Well... Mors kind of shows every thing but it takes a long long time, the video is 2 hours or so and he doesn't immediately show everything. Life nodes got a pretty decent buff, I expect builds to have up to 300% Life now (in addition to the increased level up gains).

They let you preload 3 hours before, knowing poe speeds, it might be way too little

Last I played, ES builds outclassed most life builds by way too much especially if you got low life/RF + that chaos damage to shield armor (forgot name). Is this still the case?

Is this still the case? Pretty much all Life nodes got buffed by 2% (from 6% to 8% or 8% to 10%), some physical dmg nodes give 6% Life... The Life cluster around Vaal pact is now connected and all of them give 8% and some 10% iirc, so you need less nodes. And some other stuff, so yeah, it should be better (Vaal Pact is moved to the location where formerly the 15% attack speed node was, close to the old location of Unwavering Stance.... lots of nodes got moved)!
Also looks like Low-Life RF builds will be gone, as it seems RF also deals damage depending on the ES now.
If you want to plan ahead and have time ... go watch the following video, I only watched like 30 min of it but, yeah.

Yep, it seems to be working now! Also already 1.0.0b before game release, haha. Hopefully 1.0.0b TRUELY does what it tells and decreases Ice Shot performance issues. :D
edit: Lol, Nugi's dl speed is 20 times faster than mine. At least it's working and should be done in 2 hours. :D
Also I'm thinking a summoner might be the best char now for solo MFing. Animate Guardian/Weapon probably made summoners even stronger and they were already pretty ok before.

Don't summoners have pretty slow clear speed? They are certainly safe, but MFing is mostly about time efficiency.

The download speed ran at my maximum speed as usual (which for me means 5MB/s), the patch is about 1.2GB. All running great so far.
After some more theorycrafting for builds Kefka from TL and me will start our run with maybe 5-10 minutes delay depending on whether we need to wait for downloads or not. We won't do things in super race mode but we'd like to keep a fast pace up to the new act at least & share items that the other dudes can use better on the way. Feel free to PM me or message me on steam if you want to join us.

Spectre builds have solid speed endgame, there are just certain points where the build is sluggish as hell before you get there. I highly recommend levelling with FP or something similar to 60ish at least.

With Flame Sentinels they were pretty OK, dunno how the new summons will be. I thought MF is more about safety, though. With safety you can wear pretty much every piece that has MF. Which is also why totem builds were and will be popular.
Though I think Spork is history, or at least not the best MF build anymore. The heavy reducement of Spark duration is probably pretty bad. I already felt like Spark without RF isn't dealing a lot of damage, and it seems like with the new RF change it will be damn hard to keep up RF. It might only be sustainable with leech, which isn't possible with dual totems.

also, zombies with melee splash+multi was quite good from what I can tell. the problem is you can't RLY control summons so it can be wonky, and the pain of having to replenish your army. also esp. bad if you play with infernal blow ppl, or people who crit cold a lot
