Why do some rares have 8 properties?
Rarity: Rare Gale Ram Dread Maul -------- Two Handed Mace Physical Damage: 90-123 (augmented) Elemental Damage: 26-43 (augmented), 1-31 (augmented) Critical Strike Chance: 5% Attacks per Second: 1.35 (augmented) -------- Requirements: Level: 54 Str: 173 (unmet) -------- 20% increased Stun Duration on enemies -------- 29% increased Physical Damage Adds 26-43 Fire Damage Adds 1-31 Lightning Damage 12% increased Attack Speed 9% reduced Enemy Stun Threshold +28% to Fire Resistance +23 to Accuracy Rating
EDIT: Nvm, saw the note.
Thanks a lot Blitzkrieg and Shinbi, really really informative <3

Implicit properties are always on that item type. All two handed maces have increased stun duration as an implicit property. They're also static so you can't change them with the blessed orb like some other implicit properties. Implicit properties do not count as a roll. Rings and amulets (among others) have implicit properties that you can reroll via blessed orbs.
Accuracy rating+increased physical damage is one prefix in this case. Journeyman's adds: Local Physical Damage +% 25 to 34 Local Accuracy Rating 8 to 30
|
This is why physical items are bs. All the +dmg modifiers for items are prefixes and all of the suffixes suck except for life leech, life on hit, crit chance, crit multiplier, and attack speed.

I edited in a note in my previous post, but I'll say it here as well:
The % Phys damage and Accuracy are part of a single prefix: in this case Journeyman's. Then you have Incinerating for the fire damage, and Snapping for the lightning damage. Suffixes are of Mastery [Local Attack Speed +%], of the Brawler [Stun Threshold Reduction], and of the Kiln [Fire res].
And yes, as was said above, the 20% Increased Stun Duration, the +15% or whatever Spell Damage, +30 maximum life, +20 All Attributes, etc. in every item, is an implicit affix. This is why whenever you see an item, it's always separated from the rest of the affixes. When you use a Blessed Orb, you are re-rolling the value of this implicit affix between a variable of set ranges. On another sidenote: once you understand the affix concept, you'll understand crafting [and trading to an extent as well], and will most likely come to truly appreciate it, especially when you craft a ridiculously good item.

Okay so my computer giving me even more problems trying to run poe... I barely played at all today and I cant have the game running for longer then 5-10minutes without a random crash. I've updated drivers, did a system restore, cleaned the PC, tried running the game at lowest possible settings and also ran a BF3 at highest settings to test my graphics card so its not that. Im going to reinstall game now hopefully that will fix it. If not I will try reformating as last resort Sucks I have spent my entire saturday evening troubleshooting.
Watch I find out theres nothing wrong with my pc at all and im here going crazy >.<
Also earlier today my game crashed the computer and I restarted it and my screen loaded up red and fuzzy. I turned it off waited and then ran it again and it was fine.. this is when I did the bf3 test to ensure myself that it wasnt my graphics card, I figure if It cant run poe while shutting down then surely it wouldnt be able to run bf3 at highest settings.. Well I was wrong I played for about an hour or 2 with no problems...
I just posted in support forums so heres hoping some1 has a solution for me =/
Edit: Here's the link to my forum post. It has all info inside including logs, specs and error message I got. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/157306

could someone explain what i need to be doing in order to get an endless supply of maps?
is it possible playing solo?

Dang I died on cruel Act 1 because I didn't notice that the level of monsters jumped up 5 levels between the Mud Flats and the Fetid Pool.

you get more maps solo because 100% of them are yours
however, if you run with a group all the time, the group overall gets more maps if you just share them
|
Is that true? Do groups get an implicit + item quantity bonus?
edit: Well yeah if you share them... dumb me.

Try to keep your item quantity above 30% for every map. Alts are plentiful for a reason.

is it possible playing solo? I don't think it's possible playing solo, without super luck or buying more maps. I would try and find some people you trust to run maps.
What I've been doing recently actually, is just doing pubs, joining parties that say "Running maps no ninjas maps go to maker". I run with the group for a few maps and check if they seem trust worthy. Honoring high value currency drops is usually a good indicator; when I get moments where I completely don't see a Chaos drop and someone brings it over to me, that's usually decent. Then I offer to use some of my own maps to increase my supply. Has been working since the TL group hasn't been stable. Also a good way to get more friends on your buddy list.

no. map drop quantity is defined only via map properties. when you join map instance any player quantity/quality modifiers DOES NOT APPLY TO MAPS (MAPS ONLY!). this change was made to avoid favoring groups because devs want to keep the solo play viable (and maps drop does have pretty high impact on that).
it's all about luck, seen players no dropping single map in 8 runs, seen some getting 6 maps in one.

Just got my dual claw/ghostreaver witch to 34, so it was time to switch from life on hit claws to % life steal ones. The next base white item with 6% lifesteal isn't till 50 something, so I wanted to make sure I got it right. I already had one with 38% physical damage and some other OK mods, and my first alch got me another with +38%, and I was pretty OK with that.
Then I just sort of decided to hell with it, alch'd another and got myself:
+ Show Spoiler +Rarity: Rare Pain Talons Fright Claw -------- Claw Quality: +20% (augmented) Physical Damage: 12-49 (augmented) Elemental Damage: 19-31 (augmented), 5-11 (augmented), 3-49 (augmented) Critical Strike Chance: 6.5% Attacks per Second: 1.54 (augmented) -------- Requirements: Level: 34 Dex: 61 Int: 61 -------- 6% of Physical Attack Damage Leeched back as Life -------- Adds 19-31 Fire Damage Adds 5-11 Cold Damage Adds 3-49 Lightning Damage 14% increased Attack Speed +4 Life gained for each enemy hit by your Attacks
Tri-ele damage and 15% attack speed - just - hngggggg. Unfortunately I'd prefer physical damage for the lifesteal, but you really can't turn rolls like that down.

mmhh think my first unique i found over a week ago turned out quite nice. just a random queens decree with 1 socket, never bothered to trade it cause demand didnt seem high and whatever.
yesterday a guy was looking for a queens decree and offered a quillrain AND a searing touch for it. both high demand uniques so hey, great deal!
quickly sold the quillrain (80%pspeed) for a bit over 2gcp worth and now i saw the st is a damn good roll: + Show Spoiler +Rarity: Unique The Searing Touch Long Staff -------- Staff Quality: +5% (augmented) Physical Damage: 20-34 (augmented) Critical Strike Chance: 6.5% Attacks per Second: 1.25 -------- Requirements: Level: 13 Str: 27 Int: 27 -------- 12% additional Block Chance With Staves -------- +2 to Level of Fire Gems in this item 50% increased Spell Damage 39% increased Fire Damage 70% increased Burning Damage 10% increased Cast Speed -------- Burn to cinders, scar and maim, Rule a world, bathed in flame.
only 1%fire damage from perfect unique rolls. already got bids of 3gcp worth in forum.
hooray! :>

I'm looking for a cookie cutter build that isn't gear dependand to farm stuff for other characters and such. What are the most damaging spells that I can build a witch around them?

Did not know that.
Do you know when approximately they made that change? I can't find it in the patch notes but I haven't scoured everything yet. Only relevant thing I could find was how exp doesn't scale with +50% per member anymore, instead giving a flat 30% to all with no experience being split up of the 100% base.
The mechanics thread on the official forum also doesn't really talk map quantity in any detail at all.
