Personally, I made a fortune merchanting gems the first few days of beta. The trick is staying just ahead of what the average player is searching for unless you can provide something that nobody else can (like the map runners). People were giving exalt and divine orbs for practically anything since they didn't have anything else valuable. Already spent all that though so I'm broke again. Wish I followed the unique market in retrospect. People were buying them for <1 GCP and a lot are now selling for at least an exalted if not much more. | ||

Next ones in line are either a Iron Grip Bowman Duelist or a Bow Pure Evasion + Acrobatics/Arrow Dodging Ranger, then probably another run of a templar or a marauder. | ||

The first few days you could make a GCP or more profit on every trade, but making a chaos per trade when good items are selling for 10 GCP+ is just not worthwhile. | ||

That said, 2h weapons in general are very strong at low levels, but don't scale that well at higher levels. Their attack speed is low, so after flat phys damage + gear + auras, your damage is only slightly higher than 1h + shield. That, and melee is pretty bad right now.
