I just (or at least i think i managed to do it, time will tell) got one more year of win10 updates, but by now i`m pretty sure that i dont wanna use Win11 on any of my private devices at all, if i can avoid it.
Like, on my work notebook, sure. Thats managed by IT, and i just use it for work, and thats it. But the whole "yeah fuck you if your PC is a bit older, throw it out and buy a new one so we can sell you AI" shit really pisses me off, and i dont wanna have a perpetual fight against my OS because it keeps resetting my settings with each update....
Would be interested in that as well. I haven't found the time to update yet because I need to save a lot of data etc. if I want to switch to Linux. A colleague recommended me Fedora for gaming but I haven't taken a closer look yet, either. If someone has any insights, that would be welcome. And when I, hopefully, finally manage to switch I will let you know about my experience. Knowing myself, it could take a while though because I'm fucking lazy.

Yeah, the data backup part is gonna take a while for me too. One interesting question would probably be: Can you transfer the files from your steamapps folder (as you could with changing windows PCs / moving to another hard drive) when switching from win to linux? Steam on Linux uses Proton, which uses Wine to run windows exlusive stuff, so it might work? But maybe SOME games have a proper linux install themselves, and it wouldnt need or use Wine then? Are we worse off then if we use the "Wine Version" ? Still some research to do for sure. This one is especially interesting for me, because my internet speed is atrocious, so it would take me like... 3 weeks or more to just redownload my currently installed games.
Fedora should be fine, at least i instantly found like... 4 guides to install steam on Fedora with my first search. The official valve repo (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux) seems to recommend just LTS Ubuntu, so i suppose that would also work. Probably comes down to preference which "flavour" of linux you prefer. Maybe check beforehand if one or the other has problems with drivers for your graphics card ? That would be the only point that i can think of right now.
Will of course provide infos the more i test out/research. Still, would be great to hear from someone who actually already did that :D

According to a Mark Roberts interview, Bloodlines are intended to be core and stay around after this league ends.

Works with no issues for me on Arch Linux, although I do run the game through steam. Not sure how well the non steam alternatives work.
ProtonDB on steam is so good these days. Basically any steam game runs perfectly on Linux with ProtonDB.
Only real issue you might have is getting some of the third-party programs working such as PathOfBuildingCommunity, etc. There's an AUR package for it on Arch Linux that works fairly well, but I'm not sure that other distributions have it.

Yeah, I have little doubt steam/gog games will work for the most part. But I run stand alone clients whereever I can and am also scared that some of my custom software or older games become unusable.

Just 1 bloodline left unannounced from what I can tell.
It seems like they're mostly targeting niche interactions with these. I guess it makes sense with them intending to go core, but it does seem hard to build around most of them.
Lycia has some pretty interesting ones. I think a lot of phys conversion builds can make some use of Bitter Heresy. Sinner Saint seems interesting, but there basically aren't other sources of ele conversion in the game. You can get 95% fire to chaos with two bad uniques, but that seems to be it. It's hard to imagine wanting to convert only half of an element to chaos given the opportunity cost for scaling. Maybe there's something with phys to cold to fire, since you can only get half of cold to fire with the support, then you'd have the other half straight to chaos, plus half of the fire to chaos.
I dunno, seems like a lot of hoops to jump through with some really uneven scaling vectors. I'm interested seeing if someone cooks something up.
