He barely used Helmes. In 16 games Helmes scored 12 times, quota wise that puts him just behind Huntelaar and Gomez.

Cause stats-wise, threatening-wise, defensive-wise Helmes was better than Gomez in 2012. And Helmes has done it with a team way inferior to Bayern. Now tell me if Gomez is so great, how has he scored less than Helmes with the best German club including a lineup of assist monster of Kroos, Ribery, Schweinsteiger? Both Kiessling and Helmes in worse clubs have done better than Gomez in 2012.

I mean, REALLY??? well stats wise they are. they both scored 12 goals in 2012 i believe. cacau scored 4 goals and got substituted most of the time. schwabenbonus indeed. for offence we will probably see podolski on the left. he always played good in the past years so i don't believe löw will have a change. maybe schürrle if he shows a worldclass performance in the training camp, but i seriously doubt that. so left wing podolski with schürrle as sub. in the middle we will see özil 100%. not much to discuss here imo. götze, reus or kroos could play same positions but özil just too damn good. right wing we have müller (he had a quite bad season, but i have hope he will get back in shape), götze and reus (both not their main positions tho). i think we tryed götze right wing once in qualifikation but he didnt harmonize that good with the team. so quite sure it's gonna be müller. striker gonna be gomez imo, but klose has good chance although he was injured.

I have no sympathy with Blackburn if (when) they go down. Second to last game of the season, needing to win.. And all the fans can do is chant about sacking the managers/owners. At least the chicken on the pitch was funny.

Name me those upcoming German strikers please. The ones with potential I can think of are Schieber from Stuttgart and Lassoga from Berlin. There is not much coming up in the next two years on the striker position. If Klose can stay healthy and on the level he plays at Lazio he will be part of the national team 2014. Hell, I think he will even start. Because even though Gomez shoots more goals than him he has one big advantage over him, except huge experience. Klose also scores, when it matters the most. With Gomez I often get the feeling that he gets cold feet, if he desperately needs to deliver. You could see it against Madrid in the CL again, where he couldn´t net from six meters away. So unless Klose injures himself or Löw (if he still is coach at that time) tries a different approach and puts Podolski or Reus in front, he has good chances to attack Ronaldos record.

Pretty sure Gomez scored the winner against RM in the first leg. Im sure he gets cold feet and misses alot so I dont rate him but he certainly contributed there. Theyre arent many strikers to go around fair enough but if your not phasing him out and trying more efficient methods your doing your own team a disservice. That is ofcourse unless he scores goals in bunches. Again unlikely. Yes Klose is an absolute beast for Germany and hes been really good at Lazio because hes the kind of player that ages well. He can go for as many records as he wants. Im sure Germans would get horny at the thought. Itd be great for him. But 2 years is a long time once your past 30. He may well have enough steam but I dont think hell provide enough reasons to get picked two years from now. Unless your reason is we dont have any strikers might aswell give him a go at the record. Which is a very poor one in my opinion. Just my 2 cents, Id certainly be impressed and applaud if he managed it.
