As discussion has dried up for the moment, we might revisit an earlier move:

Hard to say, as discussion has fallen off these days. I think I can confidently say that it wasn't the main reply that we expected (that would have been the simple 28...Bxa3) but ...Ra2 is a move that we considered a bit in general. So...mild surprise, I guess? When I wrote that, I somehow forgot about the move that worried us most--more than 29...Bxa3. The move I think we were most concerned about at the time, after almost every 29th move that we could have chosen, was 29...Rc2, shutting down our main offensive avenue, Rc7+ (which we eventually played).

Rc7+, Ng5 has only two legal options 29...Kd8 or 29...Ke8. Originally, I thought + Show Spoiler +that in either case, our best response was probably 30. Ke1. The purpose of that move is to defend the Knight, after which we can play d6 to drive away the Black Bishop (without Ke1, we can't play this because of ...BxP BxB RxN), and then kill the Black h-pawn. However, I've had a change of thinking: + Show Spoiler +If Black plays 29...Kd8, I still think that we need to play 30. Ke1, because Black is immediately threatening to win a piece by removing the guard of our Rook: ...RxN BxN KxR. To guard against this, we need our King defending the Knight. However, if Black plays 29...Ke8, I'm no longer sure that we should respond with 30. Ke1. A theme of this game recently has been the waiting game that we're playing with Black about the Bishop on e7: he wants to move it, to get it active, and we want him to move it so that we can go kill his pawns. In that light, 30. Ke1, 31. d6 would be spending two moves to force Black to move a Bishop that he wants to move anyway. Maybe we can put that time to better use in a different way. I think 30. g4 and 30. h4 are both worth looking into. g4 (suggested a couple of moves previously by Malinor) relieves the pin on our Knight (though it still won't be free to move whilst Black threatens ...d2+ if we move it), gives our King more elbowroom and gains space on the board, discouraging Black from playing ...f5 or ...h5. h4 gets a head start on advancing the pawn that will become passed when we kill Black's h-pawn. I think that both are worth some consideration. + Show Spoiler +I'm super noob. Can you explain how g4 relieves a pin on our knight? + Show Spoiler +If the Knight moved, g2 would be exposed to capture from Black's Rook. Doesn't make a difference now, but might down the line.

I haven't been around in a while, so I probably have missed a lot of analysis, but this is what I got.
+ Show Spoiler +Just gonna look at 30. Kf2 right now. + Show Spoiler [30... Rxa3 lines] + + Show Spoiler [31. Ke3] + Bb4 then
32. Rxh7 Ra2 loses a piece.
32. d6 Ra2 and I don't see any progress for white and I don't think he can hold the knight and stop the pawn (33. Knight anywhere Re2+ and pawn push). + Show Spoiler [31. Ne4] + Ra2+ then 32. Ke3 Re2+ 33. Kd4 Rxe4 34. Kxe4 d2 leaves black a piece off. 32. Kf1 d2 loses 32. Ke1 Re2+ white loses a knight and probably more.
+ Show Spoiler [31. d6] + I can't find any good counters for 31. d6
31...Ra2 32. dxe7+ Ke8 33. Kf3 and white is winning. 31....Bf8 32. Ke3 I can't tell who is up, but white has the initiative. I am sure someone has posted more analysis on this line somewhere.
+ Show Spoiler [30...Bxa3 lines] +...lol shoulda just started with this line, I don't see any way for white to hold the knight. 31. Rxh7 Bb4 32. Ke1 Ra1+ 33. Kf2 Rd1 34. Ne4 Rf1+ then
35. Kxf1 d2+ queens
35. Kg3 Be1+ 36. Kg4 Bc8+37. Kh5 Rxf4
35. Ke3 d2 36. Nxd2 Bxd2+ 37. Kxd2 Rxf4 gives white three pawns for the Bishop so I'm not sure how that'll end.

We've already played 30. Ke1, actually: Ng5 just hasn't updated his OP. Here's the page in the analysis tree.

I didn't look too far into that because I assumed simply d6 was enough to deter it, but it shows what I know ha
Edit: NVM I'm even more retarted that's with check we can't play that anyway. I'll come back next move and try a bit harder haha

Posted my move aaaand...
N-n-next turn.
I won't send reminders this time. I got several PMs telling me it's not necessary, so I will wait a day or two before sending to the non-active people. If you want it back just send me a PM and I'll start it again.
