Well of course he was very likely to beat Sanford but even so ;/ Felt like they were trying to make him feel worse, maybe my imagination.

Oh by the way, while I didn't really enjoy Tasteless as a caster, he's been doing a great job as a host. I also really love Mike Ross as a caster. Gootecks is meh as usual but could be worse, I guess. The invited people are pretty good although there's a few I would have left out like Chi-Rithy who I feel is not on the level of most of the other players and is boring as well.

I feel the opposite way. Whenever Gootecks is about to explain something Mike Ross immediately goes 'WHOA DID YOU SEE THAT!?'. It quite severely disrupts the flow of the commentary.

Tasteless is pretty good but a dream scenario for me would be 'real' SF commentators (nothing wrong with G&MR but it could be better) and G&MR as hosts. Sometimes it gets kind of awkward with Tasteless, like last season I think he called Sanford Stanford at some points and Sanford looked pretty annoyed, I even saw him shaking his head once right after talking with Tasteless.

Add that and some live audience and this would rival EVO in awesomeness

If it was a dream scenario; I'd kill to have Seth Killian there.

Our studio, for a live audience is really not ideal/fit right now, as we're moving to a more premium set. What you're seeing is not final; it actually can and will get better on so many levels as we transition to our full size.

As you can see, a lot of our equipment that will be moved, is sitting out being used currently. There is about enough room for 8 people in the corner (some of us from the office stop by during the shoot). With about 20-25 staff members walking by, needing silence and coordinating; a live audience would muck up the production (and it's a really tight, tight schedule).

Secondly, there are a lot of takes and redo's, not the games or the wheel-spinning; but more of the in-between stuff and it wouldn't be that great with the extra audience lounging around watching as well as the fear of result spoilers given it takes a month to edit, touch-up, etc.

It's just not feasible right now.

Honestly, I don't believe an 8 man invitational (with or without audience) could ever even come close to evo, it's just incomparable. Don't think that's what they're aiming for tho.

For the commentary, I feel like a round in a fighting game is too short to explain things to newer viewers, it detracts from the pacing/action imo. Maybe you could explain certain situations with replays after the match instead?

Yeah, something UltraChen-ish could be really useful. An educated audience gets to enjoy all the intricacies and high level decision making that makes this game so fun while unknowing viewers might just see some combo's and decreasing healthbars.

I wonder what percentage of the viewership is new to fighting games.

I think the fight night ads are the only one I ever click on, or at least wait for the time.

Personally I don't mind tasteless because of watching starcraft, but my friends who didn't dislike him a lot.

Does ESGN pay for travel costs for the players?
