I dunno about the rest of you, but this really bothers me. CC has been one of the best and maybe the only content producers for strategy about fighting games and have helped bring so many people into the community. This really is a shocker to me.

Although, I'm not surprised with Capcom's actions. Any publisher would have done the same. Selling video content about a game without permission is definitely something that should not be done like that. Oh well.. I hope things end up well for him. He's a good guy.

10:56 if you don't want to hear a bunch of whining. Edit: What Gootecks doesn't seem to understand is that Capcom's lawyers are acting almost independently. They don't take input from the community side of Capcom (Combofiend etc.), they just sniff out potential threats to their IP rights and send out hundreds of form letters identical to the one Gootecks received. They don't know anything about the scene, or even, necessarily, the game. I feel like he's taking this whole situation way too personally. Anyway, for profit or not, Gootecks' content is benefitting Capcom and it's very short sighted for game companies to allow this kind of thing to occur. We can't be under this illusion that everything in the FGC should always be free, and at the same time want to expand our scene. If you're going to slap Cross Counter with a C&D, what about the Evo DVDs, FGTV, tournament subscriber streams? I don't think this would have happened if Capcom had better internal communication, and there is probably some chance that the decision will be reversed.

Capcom send a cease and deceit to Gootek about Cross Counter Tv because they were selling video with SSF4 and UMvC3 content inside it, notably the Tokido Formula stuff. It explains why Mike Ross and other were not part of Cross Counter Tv content for a while, and why Excellent Adventures ( by the way, check it out it's hilarious ) was not produced anymore. Now Gootek doesn't really know what to do with the channel, seeling it, making more diverse content ( music, cosplay, etc ).

I don't think this would have happened if Capcom had better internal communication, and there is probably some chance that the decision will be reversed. Combofiend probably just needs to get in touch with Capcom Legal (I'm sure they have lawyers in the office) and plead the community's case. The thing about Legal is that they have to uphold and protect their greater IP rights first and foremost. Any community-driven video that they create and then sell where Capcom IPs are the sole focus and subject matter which are sold for profit are in violation of IP rights. It's like having a Let's Play video where you have a Donate link and encourage payment from your viewers. It's in violation, but is it really worth the backlash of the community to go ahead with sending C&Ds and litigation? Probably not because there's an intangible value of expanding your user network and increasing positive exposure if you do nothing. I'm sure they would be more interested in obtaining a royalty deal if Gootecks were making money hand over fist.

And one of my favorite personalities in the scene. It's an unfortunate situation. I really do think that Capcom only benefits from this kind of content, but when dealing with the legal side of things that often doesn't change the operations, as mentioned in the above posts.. Hopefully someone can do some convincing. Nintendo/EVO style? I know a ton of people who say they got into or back into SF4 because of Excellent Adventures, and a full return sanctioned by Capcom would be huge, imo.

Thanks for posting that, I was looking for that article when I posted the video, but I couldn't find it. Ultradavid makes some really good points in there. Specifically pointing out that Capcom had worked with CC on a number of occasions prior to all of this (Early builds of SFxT at Bar fights, Capcom official logos). So the legality of what happened seems awfully suspect considering they made no indication that this wasn't sanctioned (prior to this cease and desist), and they seemed like they were supporting them. Then out of no where, this happens.

My very spontanious thought is that they should check out these kind of things with Capcom first. BUT I DONT KNOW ENOUGH TO MAKE A QUALIFIED JUDGEMENT YET

Just for the record, this kind of counterproductive poopoo needs to be addressed, and if it takes someone taking something way too personally, so be it (imo).

I want to get a cheap stick and I'm wondering if there are any stores that carry them. I went online and wanted to get this, because its so cheap and the reviews seem alright, but I live in Canada (Calgary to be exact) and shipping this thing costs $67. So I'm wondering if there are any retail or game stores that carry any fighting sticks or if there are any other alternatives? Thanks. I play on the PC btw, not sure if console sticks can work.

Console sticks mostly work, X360 you must install drivers, and PS3 works natively (except if you have a motherboard that has that cursed chipset, then it doesn't work at all). Also, this stick is crap if unmodded.

If you ragequit you usually lose you points anyway, so I don't understand why people do it. Hand like one or two people do it in more than 2000 ranked games.. It's not that common. By the way, any Vega players here ? I'm so lost when playing against him, I probably have a sub 15% winrate against that fucker. ~~
