Still having fun with it though and loving it. Def old school. But I enjoy these types of games and its a classic for sure.
In the begining it's quite easy, because you can just follow the road.  It always leads to the next area, or a dungeon. After the monastery you're on your own though.

Thanks. Auctally ended up rolling a paladin and finding it after about 20 mins. Though I keep being sent to zones that I don't know the order how they go. So I'm left entering zones that end up in me dying. a lot 
still fun though

Decided to reinstall, haven't played since I was 13, 10 years ago. Should be fun .

Neither. Only Skills and Certain Gear mods can change spell damage.

It depends on whether or not you are Softcore or Hardcore. I'm going to assume Softcore since it sounds like your first playthrough.
You only want enough Strength to be able to equip your gear. That may mean keeping a few points in reserve in case you come across something that requires too much Strength.
If you are ok with being less survivable (and this is easier to get away with on Softcore) then skip Dexterity completely. If you want survivability as the difficulty ramps up, you may want some points in Dexterity to help your block value.
Vitality is where you dump all your points you don't need anywhere else. Less true for a Softcore character but still important, you don't want to lose a lot of experience for dying in Nightmare/Hell.
Energy is the tricky one. You may need to put a lot of points here for a single-player character, since it can be hard to get good gear with +Mana/Energy and +Regen mods on it. Don't fall into the trap of putting too many points in it, or you'll have more mana than you know what to do with as your gear improves. Like Strength, I'd say leave some points in reserve and if you start having serious mana issues, pump your Energy a bit.

ZasZ, thx a lot. Yep im new on Diablo II (waiting for DIII). Im playing only Single player with /players 8 trick to do it harder, so yeah, my mana drop to 0 really fast.

who can help me with a ww barbarian? I want to know:
- what to use, 2 wpn, 2-handed wpn, or 1 wpn + shield?
- ww do magic damage? or normal damage
- whats the difference among axe, hammer, sword, etc? i've seen that a lot of people use zerker axe for beast, ebotd grief, etc-
- whats the max dex I should have? Cause I won an Azurewrath ( http://www.diablowiki.com/Azurewrath_(Diablo_II)#One-handed_Swords_3 ) on an event, but it needs 136 dex.

I will be running my usual Hardcore US EAST group on ladder reset. I still need a couple of people so if you meet the following criteria, please send me a pm with your contact!!
1) Will be playing from 2:00pm (or when server gets up) on Tuesday October 25th to at least 2:00a.m and on Wednesday the 26th from 11:00am to XXXX.
2) Not greedy and will work well in a team setup
3) Have mumble or skype. A mic is NOT required provided you meet the rest of the criteria.

Apologies for bumping this but-
I've been a D2 guy for a long time, just never actually registered on battle.net like I did with StarCraft 1/2. Thought I'd go ahead and do that now. Register successful. However.. when downloader completes and I run Installer it asks for name and cd key. It asks for keys like
XXXXXX-XXXX-XXXXXX.
Mine is XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
?
It accepted my key at register, but not during installer wtf? I'm having a hard time contacting Blizzard.

you should have a new key in the game details on the bnet account

I think if you registered the game copy on your battle.net account it gives you an updated cdkey in the new format, assuming your copy of d2 is old.
