On the record, i love those kind of games with meaningful stories, etc... even if the gameplay isnt the best around (Spec Ops, for example)

Just bought a bundle on steam that was at 50% discount, Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 deluxe edition. Cost me like $17.50 so not bad. Hopefully by the time I play through them I'll be able to afford me3 but that wasnt on steam :D. I heard most people like 2 the most but I'll play through all of them because I'm mostly playing for the story/lore anyways. Hopefully playing the game will be as/more interesting that reading about the concepts xD. EDIT: whata fail, ME trilogy on sale on origin for $15. woops :/. On closer inspection though I think steam deal still seems better because that origin bundle isn't DE I don't think, and to get it through origin atm is $15 itself after discounts. Either way it wasn't too much so I'm not bothered. ME1 is definetly worth playing through. The combat isnt good but the story is solid. The main villain is the (second) best I have probably ever seen.

ME2 its a corridor shooter, nothing more, nothing less, pretty bland, not to mention the rip out every trace of RPG out of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 3 was a much better game, with a balanced gameplay between the "heavy" RPG of ME1 and the action of ME2

It is an incredibly fun game that you will replay over and over again.

That it retroactively damaged the series so much just shows how bad it was. ??? Bioware games since BG2 are all rehashes of the same basic formula of BG1/BG2 in different settings. There are plenty of people who've treated Bioware releases since then with cynicism and didn't like them because they rehash the same core plot formula, same archetypical character tropes (including the same awfully written romance subplots), and present fake player choices that only give the illusion of choices and consequences. There are plenty of RPG fans who have similar opinions to this. Believe it or not, not everyone liked Mass Effect.

While I liked the idea of uniting all the races, the interaction with the side characters, and the gameplay, I found the main storyline itself quite lacking from the start. The terrible ending was just the icing on the cake really. I won't goes as far as to say it's a bad game, but as a stand alone it isn't that great. It's only good when you get to play the first two and can appreciate the interaction with the characters and resolving conflicts you've dealt with since the first game.

Every game before ME2, your party members were there to pull the main story along, not to pull you away from it.

That it retroactively damaged the series so much just shows how bad it was. I couldn't even finish it. I got so frustrated having the same arguments against the same politicians from the last two games I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I couldn't put up with people still doubting the reapers were a threat to everyone even while they glassed their planets. And then the fact that nothing about the Crucible is explained, despite it being called the galaxy's only hope throughout the whole game, doesn't help at all. No one ever says what the Crucible is, or what it's supposed to do, despite it being your only shot at saving the galaxy. ME3 feels like one of those arcade gun games. Shoot at people when they pop up, and supposedly there's a story but who cares.

Game is a LOT more fun if you disable speeding tickets. Just saying. Also modding 1000hp engines in is fun too.

Valdis Story is probably my absolute favourite release in the last several years. Hit so many niches that I absolutely love and can't get from many other games, especially not in a single package. Of course, don't think if I could give it as a blanket recommendation for everyone.
