It says I can turn off "gods and king" in the options for DLC. Does that mean I will play the game as it is without the expansion? Basically what Im wondering is can I play the original Civ5 like how I would Starcraft. Then turn on "gods and king" and then play it like brood war. In terms of campaign etc? In other words. Should I play with the xpac turned off first? Then turn it back on after I beat Civ5 original. Is that how it works? I dont want to miss any content. | ||

I dont want to miss any content. you cant "beat" civ 5, it has like 10 difficulty settings and every game is different. You should always play with the addon, it makes the game much better. | ||

I don't believe there is a single player campaign mode, if by that you mean anything with a storyline or premade/not random maps. | ||

They play on randomly-generated maps developed according to user preferences (age of the world, climate, landmass size, etc.) against a number of AI opponents tuned to a user-selectable difficulty. One main reason is that the scenarios are inflexible (if the scenario is "Hannibal crossing the Alps" then you'll always have the same number of units, against the same enemy Civs, following the same map, etc.) and the other is that your options in scenarios are more limited both in your tech choices and playable Civs. The expansion adds the Religion and Espionage game concepts, City-States are more fleshed out, there are more units, techs, buildings, Wonders, and Civs. It's pretty much what you would expect an expansion to be, as opposed to a "mod pack" as I believe you're describing. | ||
