Some new twitter Q&A:s
@Demize99 How are we going to be rewarded for destroying vehicles if occupants will just bail? @yeoldedave A bonus for destroying it, it's really only transport vehicles that you can bail out of anyway.
@Demize99 can I kill someone while a Medic is reviving them? frustrating shooting a guy getting up, then turning towards me and killing me. @Cpackrun Yes, yes you can kill a guy who's just been revived.
@Demize99 selecting the frag nade and holding the right mouse button allowed for short/med/long throw in bf2..will it make a return in bf3? @omaerq No plans for variable throw strength right now.

Started playing Battlefield with Bad Company 2 it's an awesome game, so I'm really interested in BF 3 as my new MP-shooter. I dunno why but I think I'm too retarded for COD ^^

Battlefield is more complex than CoD
cod is an exercise in voluntary declining of mental health

I'd be in for the clan. I'm your basic front-line assault, you'll need guys like me. I like to grind it out in the shit; its what I do best, and I do it really well.
I just need a few boys to come along with me who know how to check corners and windows, know how to supress with LMG's (need that guy who just loves the RATATATATATATATATATATAT of his LMG going forever, you're my fucking favorite), know how to flank, spread out and make lines, fast trigger fingers, sharp eyes and most importantly, that intuitive sense thats so god damn important for a squad to gain any syngergy.
So ya, count me in for the clan, and if you fall into this category, let me know.

you make it sound like COD is hard xD. If COD is hard for you BF3 is going to be a lot harder.

You guys know what this means?
Get your sniper rifles ready. We're going noob hunting. I think it's best to sneak up behind them and plant C4 on their heads. There is no better time to then run off making wookie sounds into your mic. I think it's more hilarious to plant C4 on the runway.
"Haha, I got in the plane fir-" *BOOM*

BFBC2 is like a small version of what Battlefield 3 is going to be like. You needed to have played BF2 or BF1942 to know what I'm talking about.

agreed. I started playing bf2 again in anticipation of BF3. 32 vs 32 even with bf2 graphics is still oh so sexy. I can only imagine it with BF3 *drools*.

We should pick a time and someone should host a BF2 game(ha, you could still do that in BF2!) for TL to all play on

30 frames per second is actually the threshold where the human eye is able to distinguish from a fluently running game and a game with spikes or slower framerate. So when you play a game and it starts spiking just very gradually, it slowly moves below 30FPS into the 20-30FPS region or below.
30-60 FPS is only noticable in moments with quick movements and commands, and above 60 FPS you generally can't notice the difference at all (meaning you won't be able to tell if it's running at 70 or 150 FPS).

List of what console games run at what resolution (pretty much all your higher rez games are 30fps) http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241
Article about why unlike PC players those on 5 year old console systems can't have their cake and eat it to. ie: You can't have performance and graphic fidelity, It's one or the other, on consoles. http://battlefieldo.com/30-fps-720p-consoles-debate/
Anyways the "RSX" GPU in the PS3 is literally a 7900GT at 550MHz which could barely run farcry(2004) at 50 fps at 1600x1200 (max settings) the card used in the PC demos for BF3 was a 580 GTX which can run BFBC2 at 1920x1200 (max settings) and gets well over 80 fps. the minimum requirements for the PC version of BFBC2 was a GeForce 7800 GT.
Edit: The OP is right. The major difference in FPS above 30 is not visual but comes in the form of input lag. A 30fps game normally has an input lag of about 200ms which is why racing games are normally 60 fps. At higher FPS your going to get better hit detection, smoother movement/input, and less packet loss when playing online.

Hopefully they will remove the annoying shell flight time restriction as it was in BC2, and put it back to what it was in BF2.
You can test this by playing on the Arica map, climb into a tank, drive to the road that immediately exits the spawn, then try and fire into the other player's spawn. The tank shell magically disappears about 50 feet from the ground where it should land.
Unless someone does more testing than I did, that's what I saw.

I've been playing old FPS games lately in my library of games and COD is pretty much easy mode compared to any game before 2004. I'm trying to beat farcry right now on realistic and I forgot that weapon sway was something that was common in older FPS games and non regenerating health. Saying COD is hard for HC mode only really tells me that you don't know the maps because reaction time doesn't matter at all if have all the spots on the map memorized and pre aim when coming up to them. At least that's how I played HC and it normally got me a 2:1 or better KDR. I also miss sound whoring that was the best thing about older FPS games is that you could actually hear people moving around if they weren't crouched.

You notice a huge amount of difference between playing at 70fps, and 150. It's the same with monitor refresh rates, and people say they notice no difference between 60 and 120, they obviously have either have no idea and never seen the two, or just have bad eyesight.
I feel sorry for people who think it's the norm to play at 60fps probably on a 60hz monitor, must be awful!
|
Indeed, Iv heard the limit of the human eye argument so often with fps in games, and yet I know from first hand experience I feel a tremendous amount of difference playing at 120fps on a 120hz monitor in comparison to 30fps or 60fps.
