Pretty sure it's for the money.. He's 28 this is his last big contract. Liverpool is offering 90k/wk on a 4 year deal! That's A LOT of money!
I don't blame the guy he has to make the most money he can but Chelsea fans are disappointed in the club he chose.
I think Mascherano is leaving to free up the wage bills. He always talks about leaving and he says he wants to join up with Rafa/Barca.

exactly what I was wondering.
i guess the logic is that, usually to sign someone like joe cole you spend 20~ million euroes and pay high salaries whereas in this case, its just high salaries.
Liverpool need to take any chances like this, signings like this may even keep Gerrard, Torres and Mascherano at Anfield for another season
Yay, I can watch Arsenal play without Vuvuzela's. Arsenal, Birmingham, Everton, Fulham, Liverpool, Tottenham, Sunderland and West Ham have banned them from their stadiums. I like hearing the fans sing their teams song in the crowd during games.
Can anyone tell me when the EPL and La Liga is gonna start? And can I watch it on the recommended stream thread? Is there any kind of schedule for all this?
Barcelona has been very disrespectful towards Arsenal regarding Fabregas. Here's a comment Xavi made recently:
"Arsenal need to understand they are only delaying the inevitable. If we don't manage to get his signature this season then Arsenal only really have him on loan for a year - because there is nothing they can do to stop him joining next summer."
Imo FIFA should hand out fines for comments like this. Talking about players at other clubs as if they are your own is extremely rude. Not to mention this little stunt:
I really hope Fabregas stays. He is one of the biggest attractions in England. Arsenal had a bad year last year but were still in contention for the title until the very end and made it as far as any other English team in the champion's league.

The EPL starts on the 14th of August. La Liga starts on the 28th.

Who else is pumped for espn3 streaming pretty much every league? Its gonna be great. I never paid any attention to Bundeslegia, but now I can watch it on demand.

To get general updates goal.com is ok but a lot of it is rumors. livescore for up to the minute scores. zonal marking as others have mentioned is a really interesting site. football ramble a podcast with a bit of bias for their teams but overall great
On the whole Fabregas thing he himself openly came out saying he really wanted to join Barca. He's been with the Spanish team for a month, won the WC and even before that probably told all the Barca players that he does really want to join the club. So the Barca players also openly come out and talk about Fabregas joining. If Fabregas did have a problem with that he could just tell the Barca players to stop but I can't help but think that Fabregas does indeed want them to keep talking him up about joining Barca.
What i'm saying is yes Barca players are a bit disrespectful to Arsenal but i'm sure if Fabregas told them to calm it down they would but he obviously wants to join Barca sooner than later.
Fabregas wants to join Barca. Arsenal should let him go. I think it happened after games vs Barcelona. Fabregas realized how week Arsenal is against top clubs. I he doesnt want to be 3rd or 4th in PL every year. And in CL there is no guarranty Arsenal will take the gold ever. With Barca he can take every possible title in 1 year. I dont really care if he joins to Barca or not. But it's pity that this talented guy is spoiling his careeer with underdog Arsenal(Kindergarten)
Hopefully Arsenal sells him instead of having him go on a free transfer. He can join Barca, he will be on the bench a lot. Be funny if Fifa gave Barca a transfer ban for 2 years similar to Chelsea's which was appealed sadly.

He has 4-5 years left on his contract, IIRC... so leaving on a free transfer isn't really an option. IMO if arsenal can get 55 mil ++ from selling him they should do it and get a quality GK, a quality CB to pair with vermaelen and a proper finisher. The problem is that Wenger still doesn't want to spend enough money to get proper players for these positions. Fabianski sucks, Almunia sucks and Schensky is too young. He should have (or should since there's still time) to spend the money for some proven talent (Joe Hart, Lloris, or Stekelenburg). Everyone knows that Wenger has this "money isnt good for football" attitude, and I somewhat agree with it (look at city). BUT, positions like GK and CB should NOT be used as experiments/developing players. The development should take place in other clubs, so we dont lose the damn title b/c of a shitty GK. I mean, Almunia single handedly lost us at least 9 points last season! WTF is that? I'm sure Wenger could've gotten Hart, why wouldn't he want to play for Arsenal instead of being 2nd string at city? I am a die hard Arsenal fan, but we're gonna keep creating new and inventive ways of losing the league if we don't have a proper squad. God help us if fabregas actually leaves because we all know Wenger is NOT going to find a proper replacement.

I'm torn over whether I'd like to see Donovan go to Man City. It would be better than him staying in LA, but I think he would have lots of trouble getting on the field. I really hope he somehow ends up back in Everton.

You're forgetting that Wegner pretty much stole him from Barça when he was 16 offering his father a job. He is a Barça grown player, he is catalan and wants to go back home. It's just normal. I agree that contracts must be respected but transfer rumours that generate comments are inevitable.
Madrid seems cold with Kedira and are interested in Schweinsteiger and Ozil. Maicon looks difficult so David Luiz looks as an alternative.
Barça is probably looking for a dmf or a physical mf after Toure's departure. Rumours say Arsenal will hear offers (they were refusing before) for Cesc.
