It's more cutthroat but thats because Justin was there. They're more diehard but that doesn't mean they're better.
LA is better than NY now in marvel 3, mark my word on that one. Justin is ahead of Yipes or Sanford and we'll see it at Winter Brawl this weekend.
Marn, Mike Ross, Justin, Floe, Clockwork, Neo are all LA, NY has Yipes and Sanford.

But anyone know of any Youtube commentators who commentate competitive MvC3? Or at least a place to watch some high level play?
Thanks
There aren't really youtube commentators in that sense, just major tournaments that throw up their vods on youtube.
Check LevelUpSeries, teamspooky, iplaywinner, those are the three major streamers and they all have youtube channels and their vods up there.

we'll see.
i will never count out east coast in marvel. L.I.Joe for comeback kid of 2011.

For the most part I've almost ignored East Coast in general. Justin hasn't won a major or really top 4'd in west coast in a long time (in Super). Ricky Ortiz is the best player in the US right now, Filipino Champ has been winning everything as well, then theres Vangief, ClakeyD, Valle, John Choi, Ed Ma, Wong, Marn, Ross, Gootecks, Combofiend, the west coast is miles deep.
The one major that Wong goes to on east coast, he won handily (NEC).
Albeit that is all in Super and not marvel, but Wong has been putting on a showing, he could all-random and compete with the best. Like I said we'll see this weekend at winter brawl. East Coast is the marvel capital in the sense of the hype and dedication to the game, but I still say Cali is going to be the best for MvC3 coming up.

Thanks for that!
I remember a guy on Youtube even had Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 "pro matches", that was...strange to watch. Alot of Jax vs Mileena matches
But i dont wish to derail the thread, thanks again!

West coast definitely has sf4, no doubt.
Marvel? We'll see at Season's Beatings. To call it any earlier, even at Evo, is a folly =]
Final Round will be the first big EC major for it. Devastation should be before Evo as well, for a solid WC major. This year's Evo should be amazing, just gotta defend our turf from any hungry JP players.
Zlasher your lack of Marvel knowledge is showing, I wouldn't put Floe and Marn up there and claim EC "only" has Yipes and Sanford. There's tons of guys like Rahsaan, Desmond, Matrix, list goes on and on that have absolutely proven themselves over the years.
Now that I'm thinking about it though, wtf @ Floe? Did he move? I thought he was in Chicago or somewhere in the Midwest.
Edit: hot damn lots of people popped in while I type this. This was a response to Zlasher like 10 posts up D:
Edit 2: HAHA sung_moon, beat you to it !

oh god where do i begin. this is gonna make ppl be like "hey S_M your from EC your just defending your coast!!!" but w/e
how the hell can u judge that. just from watching WC streams of WC players vs other WC players and EC streams of EC players vs EC players. theres no way anybody can just be like "clearly XXXX coast is better than XXXX coast already in mvc3 yayayaya". (PS as far as i know only one guy from WC is coming to WB: Justin). also, count to me the number of streams/matches/whatever you wanna pull out of sanford/yipes playing. yea bring out the old comic-con shit or the 5 or 6 videos or w/e that seb posted. you're gonna really judge those guys on those videos when they probably haven't had the game for only a week or less.
at the last part your just throwing names out from WC streams. hell i could do the same shit for EC players.
this weekend justin can come in and scrape everybody in every game (which has happened in many tournaments and games times before) or every major WC wrecks EC in 3 or w/e. but if your logic is based on you just stream monstering and think "oh they got justin this place is too good" then lol.
meh enough ranting by me. x-23 is pretty cool. her shadow steps make for interesting mixups with crossup and surprise overheads. prolly run mag/dante/wesker all day this weekend anyway

Floe bought a 1 way ticket to LA during WCW3, he's moving to LA, he's been looking at the areas to live in (which arcade scene or which players to live closest to). And if you've seen him play you'll know he's a top player in marvel 3 now, especially since he's currently living with justin and gets the best practice around. Marn was the hands down #1 TvC player, the game that MvC3 is based on (not marvel 2, as you know).
Noel Brown has won like 8 of the 9 NYC marvel 3 tournaments so far, wtf is up with that when you see him play and it looks like smart play at the time but then you look at Justin and you see how many steps ahead he is of everyone on west coast.
I did forget Matrix thats for sure, but just in terms of who's done what so far in the couple weeks the games out (I know, thats like saying dayvie and King Hillbilly and Artosis are the 3 best SC2 players a week into beta), I'm not saying East coast is ass, I'm just saying that the socal scene let alone california in general isn't losing shit to east coast lately, and I don't think Marvel 3 is changing that.
And to sungmoon, same thing, I'm not saying east coast is ass, but the way things progress with the level of play and the arcade scene and who plays against who and who practices against who and how often they play tournaments, LA will be better than NY.
You can quote me on that some day when i'm wrong and NY is bodying the shit out of the world, I don't mind being wrong, I'm just saying thats what I feel is going to be the case. What I say isn't the law or anything its just my opinion. I'm ok with you respecting your coast, but I'm not pulling names out for the sake of names, and I don't associate with either coast since I lived in norcal for 14 years and been in East coast ever since i've been following competitive games.

I love how because the "best" east coast marvel player moved to the west, the west is now better hah.
I was always under the impression EC vs WC was not about where you lived but where your from. A New Yorker is still a New Yorker regardless of where he/she may live. I feel like it should be the same in this case. You can maybe get away with saying the people who live in the west are currently better then the people who live in the east. Thats different then saying the West is better then the East.

Noel Brown is a disgrace to the fighting game community.
Its sad that sucha terrible player can win at this game.

Justin is now west coast lol, he plays every tournament as socal or west coast, if we went by where people are from Marn is from Texas lol. Nobody argues that Justin is still East Coast though.
Look if its a MvC2 tournament back in 2006 or something East coast blows west coast out of the water, but this isn't mvc2 anymore

Again I personally never looked at this like say basketball. Justin did't get traded to the west and now the west will be better at marvel. Like you said he is still East Coast, just happens to live in the west rite now where he is owning. To me that sounds like East coast blowing the West Coast away. Same would go for Marn if he is a true Texan. When he wins, the West just got bodied by Texas hah.
|
Hmm? I never said he's East Coast still lol, he is west coast, when its east vs west, he plays for west, w hen its socal vs ny, he plays for socal, if you ask him where he's from he's now from LA, one of his nickanmes is hollywood wong lol.
this aint heretics its fighting games

Clearly you said Justin is still East Coast. Guess I misunderstood.

Hi, let me jump in and say that you should be considered as part of the coast you live in not where you are from because that's were you practice and develop your skill.
Whether Justin is East or West on SF, is up for debate but he is definitely West on Marvel 3. But besides personal opinions Justin himself said he's now part of the West Coast crew since he represented them against the East coast in a tournament (unfortunately I can't remember the name of the event).
Now on the topic of is East better than West right now, since West was better in in SF4 and they have Marn who is the best at a similar game, I can see how someone would be inclined to say that West wins, BUT I hope assumptions are wrong and East turns out being the better coast for a number of reasons.
Question: Is Florida consider East or just something different? If they are considered "South" then we could see a third part on any upcoming turf-matches since they look to be at least playing quite a bit. If so I'm rooting for them dudes.
|
Why does it matter where people come from? Justin had mvc2 on lock for like 4 years straight, that wasn't EC that's just justin.
|
4 years? He had MvC2 on lock for like 8 or 9 years at least lol.
Also, I think it was SBO that he rep'd West in West vs East.
Florida is considered South I think. Its pretty much like Socal, Norcal, Northwest, Midwest, East Coast, and sometimes the South.
|
I think justin still consider himself east coast even though
what are you teams in MvC3? Mine right now is Zero/Amaterasu/Haggar
I might switch haggar out for tron tho
