Hey guys, I was watching the wednesday night fights that took place a couple days ago and I'm curious about something. Here's a link to what I'm talking about...

At 6:20, UltraDavid asked if the winner in a game of a boX is allowed to change his assist for the next game. His fellow commentator answered no, the winner cannot change characters or assists. However, at 26:50 Justin Wong picked Tron's Bonne Strike assist (which I assume was an accident). After beating StreetShark in that game 1, he switched to Tron's Gustaff Fire assist for game 2.
So I'm wondering...did Justin Wong cheat and nobody noticed? Or are assist changes allowed even if you win? What's the tournament standard on this rule?

Technically, Jwong cheated.
More accurately, he didn't know that rule. You don't really change assist in marvel 2 so in the ten years he played that game it never came up. In 3rd Strike / SF4, you're allowed to switch supers but not chars, so it probably seemed logical you could switch assist.
Most likely thing is he meant to pick the fire assist in game 1 and was just correcting it for game 2, which would be why StreetShark didn't mind.

Ok, that's what I thought was going on in his head. It would make sense to me if assist changes were allowed given the 3s and SF4 rules.
Also, it seems Justin was more concerned about making sure he picked blonde Tron than getting his assists right lol.

I'd prefer it if you were able to change assist. To be honest, most characters only have one good assists anyway.

I dunno it can really vary, X-23 has the neck and ankle slicer both of which u can set up an unblockable with. Sentinel hsa rocket punch or sentinel force, there are kinda a lotta options.

I really like using Felicia but I can't even beat the hardest computer setting, but I like her toy touch air combos. No one else seems to like her, it's depressing.
On a side note, even though I suck at this game it's still super fun to play, it must be like what new SC2 players are feeling. We set up a tourny in my dorm with all first time players, payout ended up being $500 with some cheerleader taking it. Was a totally awesome set of games for the finals.

That toy touch reset from the danger room looks pretty slick, I may mess around with her because of it.
My current little character project is Captain America though =) People do not respect the super soldier. He can hyper charging star on reaction to so much stuff it's kinda crazy. Soooo slow though T_T
And for all of you who were thinkin "damn, I wish Sentinel did just a bit more damage," I present the first sent reset that I've gotten to work consistently on smart players:
(I think it's midscreen only, never tried it in the corner because sentinel regular combos pretty much kill in the corner already lol)
cr.M, S, sj up forward, sj.L, sj.L, sj.S (The sj.S will whiff as you pass over them in the air, ending the combo)
Now, you fall to the ground offscreen before they do, so just dash back under them to the side you were originally on as soon as you hit the ground and cr.M, S again.
Works even better in live play because you can be all like "oops, I dropped my combo" when the sj.S whiffs and then when they get hit again by the crossunder, you trollface.

Chris Hu can be good when he's with someone smart but my mind explodes when they keep saying stuff as if they're 100% sure like ammy's slow down super makes it so u can't super, storms super is full screen, when its not, and then they're talking about her hand lol wtf.
I just can't wait for ski and keits to get on the mic those two guys are awesome, the james chen and ultradavid of east coast, wiht more hype, although i guess keits is technically midwest

I've been watching all these wednesday night fights, and team spooky things, and by far the most annoying phrase is 'HES GETTING SALTY!" or "I was feeling salty after that match". Fucking new yorkers.

lolllll such a mediocre sentinel on team last minute, but terrible anti-sent play from guys on dont ever stop. You really gonna call assists vs lvl 3 xfactor sent? I don't feel bad for you. Not knowing when you can SJ out of HSF, etc etc
