Sorry someone asked how good my rating was and I didn't answer properly.

Over 2500 is generally enough to keep you in the top 40 of the currently active players in 5-minute chess. I've been chilling between 20 and 30 in the past days.

Anyway. I can't really relate to ICCup's olympic or A ratings, because I don't know how good that would be. I've never played SC only watched it.

A+ easily.

Hoping to catch you streaming again; I've missed the last few

Should I play Dos Hermanas?

12 round swiss, 3 0 time control, best blitzers in the world.

Adding a poll.

Added to OP.

Of course analysis after the games or maybe later Day Daily style.

Edit3: Oh and 2000 euro for the one who beats Nakamura, Kamsky, Shipov, etcetcetc.

Alright. I signed up for the first qualifier in the evening. Got disconnected, mouse slipped and lost in a way that made me go BM for the first time. I ragequitted after the sixth round - which is unusual from me, trust me.

Second qualifier I went 9/12. One mouse slip, losing like an ass twice. Not getting through to the knockout stages (two more qualifiers on the go).

What's more important though.

I just beat Gata Kamsky.

Since I've been asked who the hell he is. With Nakamura he's one of the top two players of the US - Naka is superior in blitz, I would say Kamsky is superior in long time control tournament play still (debatable). Gave up chess for a decade and came right back with a considerably stable 2700+ FIDE. World champion candidate twice. He's invited to pretty much most of the top grandmaster events in the whole world.

Analysis to come when I start seeing from the pinkish clouds.

So is it enough to make you proud?

Read his above posts ._.! And great job on beating Kamsky :O. Be sure to update us on how you do in the remaining qualifiers.

By the way unrelated: what brought you to TL if you haven't ever played starcraft o.O?

Haha. Alright I went 7/12 and 8/12 so did not get anywhere.

I played pretty bad today, but around the end I got into the right mindset again and I started producing some nice games. It's been years since I last played 3 0, so I would call it a decent result.

I'll try getting a good date together for broadcasting the Kamsky game analysis. I will also post the VOD of it - so if you miss it it's no biggie, but you won't be able to ask questions then.

I'm off to bed, it's almost morning. Peace, peeps.

Tomorrow. That's saturday, right?

I guess sometimes between 6-10 pm CET / 1-5 pm EST.

Bless daylight savings time.

I'll upload the vod somewhere after so you can watch if you get late. As I stated before though - you won't be able to ask questions live that way, only here.

Peace peeps.

I will be watching.. this looks so great! They must have some serious anti-cheats on the internet chess tournaments though

For me it will be more exciting to hear your analysis that watching alot of blitz games - I don't think I would be able to follow much of the thought process. But maybe the rest of TL is a lot better than me in chess.

Cheat detection on ICC is pretty slick in general - without being overdone. They catch the cheats, they do it fast, but they don't jump before the gun.

Especially with Dos Hermanas - which is like the TSL of online chess. Heavy cheat detection, they warn you to call them immediately when you find someone suspicious. Nothing is done in the public, so there's not many trash talking. (I've only been accused three times during more than a year.)

There's also two things that make it close to perfect. One in general - ICC reserves the right to exclude you from any and every tournament (especially the prize-giving ones) upon sole suspicion that you are getting outside (engine, friend, whatever) assistance. Which is pretty good in my opinion. And seriously, they are not too strict there either.

The other thing is solely for big gun events like this one, or the one where you can qualify to a bigger tournament through online qualifiers. When you register you have to give your real name and location you are going to play from. At any time during the tournament ICC can ask to send a proctor to oversee you playing. If you are unable or do not want to accept them, or you live so far in nowhereland they exclude you from the tournament. If I qualified for the knockout stages I'm pretty sure that's what would have happened to me, too. Though I live in a little off, but they could send people from three countries as I live close to the borders.

On the other hand though - I would have played Naka in a 3 minute best of four, so they might have not bothered with sending a proctor on that one.

The Kamsky game stream turned out to be so bad that I lost my will to live after making it. That's the reason why I didn't post it in the VOD section. Problem is - most 3 0 games are just too short to have anything fancy. I made three losing mistakes that he didn't capitalize on and then he made two I did capitalize on, but nothing really really spectacular happened, regretfully.
