I played a game with a good twisted on my team and now I feel the urge to learn how to play him. I know he's one of the harder heroes to learn, especially with getting gold cards, but I'm willing to put in as many practice games as necessary. sheen -> lichbane is core. other than that, I've seen stuff like soul stealer, random good AP shit, and wit's end on him, but I never play him so I don't know how you should build him exactly.

ah yes LoL.
I had a really good karthus play
but focused on sc atm...

Sheen is core, Lichbane is Luxury since it´s only good once you already have AP. Way too many Players get LB way too soon.

I can play TF really good so I'll try to help you out(hope it doesn't seem like im bragging) Summoner Spells:Flash and ignite You need flash to escape possible ganks because you will solo mid and ignite is great for making sure you get the kill/adding on the extra damage after ulti gate
Runes: Qunits: Scaling AP Blue:Scaling AP Yellow: Scaling AP Red: Magic Pen
First item: Saphire crystal, health potion, and mana potion Skills: QWQWEREQWQRWQWEREE
When you get to your lane, wait until late lvl 2 or lvl 3 and then start spamming wild cards, and I mean SPAM it you have to harass really hard and sometimes i like to cast pick a card, pick a gold card, flash into them, hit them with that, wild cards, and a basic attack for some damage. Now, when you hit level 6, if you've been harassing heavily, both pf you will be really low health points(advantage you). Now, recall and finish sheen. If you're opponent has not recalled, pick a gold card in base and immediately cast your ulti and gate in next to them to hit them with, hit them with wild cards, basic attack, and ignite. If all goes well you should get a kill.If your opponent did recall however, gi back to middle lane and constantly check the bottom two lanes for overagressive opponents/opponents at low health. If you see either one, recall, shop, pick a gold card, and ulti gate in.
Rest of item build: After sheen you get mejais soulstealer, then boots of swiftness( I feel a must for TF)then finish lich bane, now get zhonyas ring, then arch angels staff, then whatever you want(I usually finish with another ring for the extra AP/ mana for Arch Angels passive) If all goes well you should go around 15-0 on an average :D

Ok, so Corki is now a free champ and i'm wondering about good build for him. I usually see AD Corkis, so is AP worse than AD on him then? What to go with in the AD, trinity -> black cleaver seems kinda common, but how good is that?
|
corki players are surprisingly rare for how good he's considered... I honestly have no insight on how to play him, but I will say that I played with a horrible AP Corki last night who rushed Archangel's Staff, so don't do that. The only thing I think I know about him is that you're supposed to open pots + mana crystal and then get sheen + boots on first trip back, but I'm honestly not even sure about that.

He's a carry hero, so building him AP is pretty thtoopit. You can open Sheen on him, but you don't have to. You can, and then you can turn it into TriForce if you so desire.
You can actually build him the same way you'd build any DPS hero, like Trist, Ashe, Twitch, etc. Really, whatever DPS build works for the game works for you. Same concepts apply, like getting Lizard to snare them, etc. Starks and Cleaver are two items I see on him relatively commonly.
http://solomid.net/forums/index.php?/topic/163-corki-by-grandpamcgrim666
Is solomid's guide on him, which uses Stone into TriForce. TriForce is probably the best way to combine damage burst, survivability, and mobility/snare. Personally I prefer going Brutalizer (I am obsessed with that item!) into Thirster into Starks, but I am a creep-killing whore who glass-cannons with every ranged DPS hero, so don't mind me.
Edit: I think he's rare because he's like a bastard child of Twitch and Trist. They're all DPS heroes without shutdown, but Twitch has invisibility, Trist has jump, and Corki has a super-nerfed escape mechanism that doesn't really, anymore. So you have to REALLY trust your initiator and such, moreso than you have to with Twitch (whom you insta-die with nowadays without a proper initiator) and Trist (who can just run away).
He's also solo-mid reliant, because he needs levels to damage early on (spell-based from level 1-10ish), but it takes a lot of experience with him to be able to beat many solo-mid heroes. He's not a character you can play passively with, because you'll just get ground to death by harassment; you need to know WHEN you can kill, and then go all-in. It's discouraging to a lot of players when they go mid with Corki and get harassed to death by Ashe/Trist/Karth/Nid etc. while not being able to harass back.
For example, I feel like I will never lose to Corki with Ashe, especially upon hitting level 6. That's not the sort of news you want to hear when picking a pure solo-mid hero. But you have to make it work ANYways, and if you can do that, you'll be rewarded by one of the strongest carry heroes in the game

how did you JUST realize this? I thought that's a big part of why people like Brutalizer (though I personally just love armor penetration right now).
speaking of which, the one game I played last night with Pantheon, I went brutalizer, boots, BT x 3. Over 400 base damage with good armor penetration and heartseeker active is hilarious... I was routinely melting their whole team after they blew their CC load. Also, it was pretty fucking hilarious how much health I'd get from just whacking creeps. I'd come out of a team fight with like no health (due to not specing for survivability at all, lol), then I'd see a creep wave and be at full health after the first 2-3 autoattacks.

I just loved the armor pen and how brut pen works with Last Whisper
And then I was randomly talking to a friend last night while staring at recent matches and I hovered over Brutalizer and noticed "ability cooldown" and was like !?
Edit: So I been playing with Twitch the past couple days, is it just me or does he feel significantly weaker than Ashe?

a good build for corki would be something like
open mana pot + 2 hp pots catalyst basic boots + brutalizer(long swords are easy to get to build into) merc treads or berserk greaves sheen banshee veil bf sword ---> black cleaver
the less armor they have, the more true damage you get from his passive.
|
how does he feel weaker exactly? I'd guess it's just you and your Ashe fetish.
EDIT: also, quick question about true damage... That's just talking about damage after all's said and done, right? so like, if you'd hit for 60 - 10 (armor) = 50 true damage + 5 (passive) or something, right? so like, since armor is % reduction, doesn't it not matter when his 10% is added?
like, in the previous example, we're saying 16.66% damage reduction off of armor, so if instead it was just a flat 10% bonus to damage, it would be 60 + 6 (passive = 66 damage - 11 (armor) = 55 still. the only things I can think of that would affect whether true damage or regular damage were buffed are flat damage reductions like those from Amumu's tantrum or defensive masteries. Or like, am I just misunderstanding true-damage?

He has worse lane presence than an Eve, because at least Eve has a strong disable (stun). His range is so bad that he gets owned by any hero that has an ounce of harassment. This makes it difficult to get decent gold income.
When a teamfight begins, it's totally up to the rest of your team to protect him, as opposed to him being capable of fending for himself. And coupled with the difficult original farm during laning it's nearly impossible to do anything with him against a competent team that begins warding up their lanes, or simply don't care if you show up. Not to mention a leaping hero like Jax = instadeath.
Maybe it's my preference for being able to keep up pressure. With Ashe I can (and will) screw over other teams attempting to initiate by spamming Volley... and with runes + brut + decent damage I see Volley actually chop down their soft heroes by significant amounts, escalating as they draw out starting the fight.
Edit: True damage is damage that cannot be affected by reduction. So if you have 400 base damage, you'll always apply an additional 40 damage, because 10% of 400 is 40.
|
wtf, that's so fucking imba!
it would also mean that brees' statement is completely wrong, since armor penetration would have no impact on true damage.
as for twitch, yea, the range issue + no real disables seems to hurt him quite a bit early. I dunno, good twitches still seem to pain in the ass, but most of my champions fuck him up pretty badly (Pantheon leap -> heartseeker = insta death on twitch, same with nidalee closing distance), so I don't find him as threatening as Ashe (who can shoot an obscenely large arrow that stuns me and leads to insta burst death unless I"m packing cleanse).
|
Yeah, I was talking about it with some friends last night; most people seem to tier Twitch over Ashe, but when it comes down to it, Ashe just feels "stronger" despite only having two active skills. They're both reliant on ults with gigantic CDs (Twitch's ult CDs longer than Ashe until level 16 o_O), and Ashe is more helpful for heroes like Alist and Blitz. In fairness L0cust has Ashe rated relatively high (higher than Trist etc.) so it means not EVERYone thinks she's utter trash.
I'm just afraid of maining a hero that'll get completely nullified later on (like 10-1 with Ashe last 11 games, that 1 loss being a loss solo-queue despite being 4-0 8 minutes into the game. Yes, teammates!), but I'm getting to the point where it's like F it, I don't ever feel useless with her, and she completely nullifies the primary defensive item for most heroes (Banshee).
|
She's definitely not utter trash, she just seems designed to be a ranged DPS carry, but her end game doesn't scale as well as comparable heroes in the same role. The nice thing about her that I see is that she has a relatively strong early-mid game for that role, which means that if you can kick some ass early, you can just snowball out of control, and so even if your skills and stats growth aren't as great for the end game as Trist/Twitch/Corki, if you leverage your early game advantage into a significant level/item advantage, you can still carry effectively.
But yea, I just think she's tiered lower because she's a carryish champion, and when people evaluate carries, they look at how dominant they can be in the end game.
|
I don't even play her (nor do I want to) as a primary DPS, heh. Usually heroes like Blitz accomplish that task for me. Maybe I just play with a team setup that works well with her, which is perfectly dandy. I don't mind Cleaving down someone's armor for Blitz so he can Overdrive them home. Whaaaaaaaaaaatever. Until she gets absolutely hulk smashed out of viability in games I play I'll just keep playing her. Just the same way you main Pantheon :D
|
yea... I dunno, it's sorta like that, but I think Ashe is considerably more viable than Pantheon right now. I keep trying to quit the fucker, but then I just wanna burst a whole team for 500+ and he keeps me coming back. I don't think he's that bad and I think I'm very very good with him, but I think he needs some sort of buff to become viable (proc effects on spear toss pl0x! and some better stats growth...).
Speaking of Pantheon, I've recently come to the awkward conclusion that 15/0/15 is my favorite mastery layout for him.

Hahah.
I wish Volley added all on-hit effects :D Come on, you know you want to get Lizard/Cleaved on volley!
