I'm almost glad we got rid of him, since his career was going down here and now he's doing great. ^^ It's obviously still early, but right now does anyone else think the Nuggets are the best team in the league, besides the Cavs? I'm not talking about the playoffs, just inconsequential February basketball. The Suns loss was tough to watch, but most of their losses are just sleep walking against shitty opponents, and their most impressive games are against the best teams (and they're in the toughest division.) I'm sure motivation is a factor as well, as the Lakers seem to just be wading their way through the regular season, but still... plus Kobe seriously needs to rest his injuries for the playoffs. At the very least, is it fair to say the Nuggets have the best 1 to 3? Of course Chauncey and JR don't shoot close to that on average, but how many teams can beat the Lakers when they get 17/17 out of Gasol and 33 from Kobe on 50% shooting? It wasn't like Lakers-Cavs #1 where the Lakers didn't show up, or #2 where both teams didn't show up. Last night was good basketball from both teams. Ha, Chauncey is actually a 47% 3pt shooter against the Lakers for his career. o.o Didn't someone say this about the Grizzlies a week ago? Over a season, it's likely for a team to go on win streaks. Now the Jazz are still hot, the Bobcats just cooled off, the Hawks a little before that, Orlando before that... What makes the Nuggets fundamentally different from a year ago? They're on pace for 55 wins... Smith is a tad more disciplined and Carmelo is playing at his playoff level from last year, including the defense. Most importantly (regarding the Lakers), Ty Lawson is going to give them problems until they figure out how to deal with quick guards. ^^

If Lawson didn't injure that shoulder I think this game might have turned into a rout.

go to http://forum.sbrforum.com and register. that website has virtual currency called sbrpoints. bascially, you get 6 free points a day. you can buy a freeplay on a sportsbook for as low as 199 points or $50 cash for as low as 400 points. So in about a month, you get a freeplay or two months you get $50 cash with which you can use to slowly build a bankroll. however, you don't have to wait. you can use this virtual currency to bet on games at the sbr sportsbook. So if you hit a few picks in a row, you can win a freeplay in as little as a week or two. If you are a skilled handicapper and you practice good bankroll management, you can turn your initial free $50 to something substantial, all with zero risk. so join the contest, you get an extra 5 points plus a chance to win $20 from me!

Adande said, what separates the really good teams is that they know how to win games even when they don't play well, they always find a few good minutes when they need them to get a win (paraphrase). I think that is so true. If you look at most of the San Antonio championship teams, they didn't blow people out of the water during the season but they always came up big when it was needed. That's why regular season games don't really bug me because I know that at the end of the day, I trust to Lakers to gut out important wins in critical situations. The last 18 minutes of that game today showed that when the Lakers are really focused and buckle down, they ARE the best team in the NBA. Denver is a team like the Detroit Bad Boys of the late 80's / 90's ... they try to out-muscle and punk teams around into playing their style of ball. Today, the Lakers gutted it out and beat Denver at their own game. It was a really great game to watch, the officiating was kinda poor though. Denver got everything through the first 3 quarters, and the Lakers pretty much got everything in the 4th.

Only reason I haven't signed up is because I never really bet on sports games ![]() @Xeris: Thats why I felt the refs killed such a good game. I still remember when Afflalo got called for those 2 ridiculous fouls for guarding Kobe. Then one of the casters, I think it was Mark Jackson, said yea that's a superstar call. The very notion of him saying that and no one questioning superstar calls had me igged. Whatever, 4th quarter - Melo is called for an Offensive foul while jostling with position for Artest. Artest is clearly bullying him but not enough to be called for a foul and then MELO gets hit with it??? Seriously what the hell were the refs doing? Half the time they are allowed to play physical, then when they aren't even physical enough they get called for ridiculous fouls. It was a great game (I think Lakers had a major break when Lawson went down and their bench would shine) ruined by some wtf moments.

Yes you may be a HOF player but people don't just have to stand there and let you waltz around them playing D. Kobe looks like he expects a call EVERYTIME someone dares graze him. Although he's not the only big name player who does it =/
