It's obviously still early, but right now does anyone else think the Nuggets are the best team in the league, besides the Cavs? I'm not talking about the playoffs, just inconsequential February basketball. The Suns loss was tough to watch, but most of their losses are just sleep walking against shitty opponents, and their most impressive games are against the best teams (and they're in the toughest division.) I'm sure motivation is a factor as well, as the Lakers seem to just be wading their way through the regular season, but still... plus Kobe seriously needs to rest his injuries for the playoffs. At the very least, is it fair to say the Nuggets have the best 1 to 3? Of course Chauncey and JR don't shoot close to that on average, but how many teams can beat the Lakers when they get 17/17 out of Gasol and 33 from Kobe on 50% shooting? It wasn't like Lakers-Cavs #1 where the Lakers didn't show up, or #2 where both teams didn't show up. Last night was good basketball from both teams. Ha, Chauncey is actually a 47% 3pt shooter against the Lakers for his career. o.o

Now the Jazz are still hot, the Bobcats just cooled off, the Hawks a little before that, Orlando before that... What makes the Nuggets fundamentally different from a year ago? They're on pace for 55 wins...

The Blazers are better in a very weird way after having some of the worst injury luck of any team in any sport. Then Utah is well...just playing insane lately. OKC can win on any given day against anyone with the future MJ on that squad. So they are in a stacked division with plenty of incentive to win. If they come out on top this year they have even more confidence than last year. I don't know if you heard the announcing of Mark Jackson I think it was but he said the Nuggets truly believe they are better than the Lakers. That goes a long way in achieving success.

They'll be sucking again come playoffs time. Not that hate them or anything, but they have the same old stale roster that will take them to the first or second round of the playoffs, but ultimately they will be cannon fodder for the better teams like LA or Denver. They're actually probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the West, but tbh I find a team like Oklahoma (or even Memphis) way more exciting and potential filled.

Most importantly (regarding the Lakers), Ty Lawson is going to give them problems until they figure out how to deal with quick guards.

I stuck around to try and watch the rest of the game in case something special happened (Lebron decides to keep it up for the rest of the game and score 80), but bron-bron calmed down and it turned into your typical knicks rapefest ![]()
