My aim in translations is to mirror the Korean interview, and writings; and more specifically to resemble the words the Progamers(or anyother person) actually said. I rely heavily on the intelligence of TL members reading this translation to infer what they actually meant; not necessarily meaning that those incidents occur very often. So, I try as hard as I can to refrain myself from translating with my personal analyzation. If I can offer some additional information, I include it at the end with (*) marks next to it. So come across an awkward phrase, or figure of speech, give it time, because that is what Korean progamer said. I aim to provide a 'clean' translations, that are verbose, sometimes nonsensical, awkward in wording, and not adhering to the normal english we hear everyday, hoping we all can get a glimpse of the vibe on what they are actually saying.

[Shinhan Bank Season 3] Ongamenet Han Dongwook Interview "Special training in Daegoo happened to be a great asset"

Just as expected, when it comes to outdoor matches, Han Dongwook simply becomes better. Although he started out today's match with one loss, he performed perfect strategy and unit coordination against Lee Sungeun. It seemed as if he had reinstated his former maneuverability. Han Dongwook, the artist; The match he performs is nothing but masterpiece.

-Shedding away the long slump, you advanced to the semifinals.
▶I am so happy. But, I was very emotionally distressed having to play in tour match with a previous loss. Having only slept for two hours, I was very tired, but having won the match I am more happy.

-You had further practiced in Daegoo.
▶The training matches practiced on the day of the match is more valuable because I can visualize it, and put into use more easily in an actual match. I want to thank (Cha)Jaewook hyung for preparing the place. I was able to win because the special training I took toady was effective.

-Your outdoor match records are impeccable.
▶At the very first outdoor match, I practiced heavily because I did not want to lose in front of so many spectators. However, as number of these outdoor matches piled up, it became special. The game flows more smoothly, and now I think of it as a blessing rather than a petty jinx. I am gladly expecting my next outdoor match. + Show Spoiler +
(*Anyone catch the innuendo in this sentence?)

-Who do you think your next opponent will be.
▶Without a doubt, I expect Myoungsoo to win. When it comes to fighting Terran, he dominates, simply. You can expect nothing else from me, but to root for the teammate. Currently, Myoungsoo is my utmost rival inside the team.

-You are weak against Protoss.
▶I do not feel the need to be embarrassed, just because I don't excel in one particular race match up. I acknowledge I am not terrific with it. But, since I am fully confident against Terran and Zerg, I want to specifically display my skill where it is at its peak. After this season, I will supplement my vs Protoss skill (with more practice).

-Your third set's strategy was astonishing.
▶Honestly, having had much difficulty for preparing for the match in Arkanoid(for they were all countered during practice), I was not able to devise up a special strategy(for the third match). It was a match intensely focusing on excruciating micro-control, where in such I can perform well. With an early strike, I knew I would win.

[Shinhan Bank Season 3] Pantech Lee Yoonyeol Interview "For my mother, I won"

Lee Yoonyeol is a good son. He honored his deceased father after winning Shinhan Starleague season 2, and at this season's first outdoor match of Daegoo Tour, he gave it all to his mother. Invigorated by his family, he has achieved his victory, and he has broken the Championship Curse, which to this day no one else was able to deny.(*1)

-You have broken the Championship Curse.
▶I was so shaken up after losing the second set. But, I made it to semifinals, and most of all, I am happy I have broken the curse. Even more so, because I performed the ceremony prepared in advance.

-How did you prepare for the ceremony.
▶I wanted to show the fans something different because I thought I gave away too many 'hearts'. Looking in the mirror yesterday, I wanted to emphasize four badges. I still hunger for more badges. When I look back at myself in the future, I wish I have become a 'Legend'.

-You gave away a set facing burrow Zerglings
▶I felt the extensive training the opponent must have gone through. I failed to acquire first assault timing, and in securing resources. It was a swiftly clean defeat. I also worried if I were to be a victim of an early all in strategy in the last set.

-Your opponent in semifinals is the winner of Season 1, Han Dongwook.
▶In all in all, it has boiled down to a match of both champions in Season 1 and 2. The semifinals will bring out the stronger player between us two. (Han)Dongwook seems fit in vs Terran. Still, I am probably more skilled than he is.

-You probably passed by Goomi coming from Seoul.
▶ Actually I did, and passing Goomi I saw my house. At that moment, I thought about my mother who will be worrying about her son. Then I thought how my mother will feel so bad, if I were to lose today. I was able to tidy up my emotional state, and for my mother, I won.

-Many already predicts you as a favorite for this league.
▶The match has to end to be sure. You have witnessed how difficult the quarterfinals were. There is no other way but to do my best in the remaining matches.

-We heard there were many people who aided you in training.
▶I thank all Zerg players in my team. Lee Youngho and Kim Sangwoo, my teammate Terran, who discussed the strategies with me, helped me much. To Jo Hyunggeun of the Airforce, Joo Youngdar in Samsung, Park Sungjoon, and Hanbit's Kim Junyoung, I want to say thank you.

(*1) - Boxer is the one and only free from Championship Curse, having won two consecutive Starleague championships. So the interviewer is slightly misinformed. However it is still a tremendous achievement from Nada. Championship Curse, which sounds like a playful sarcasm referring to a series of coincidences, actually has nothing to do with coincidence. All the previous Starleague champions have suffered it. Bluntly, it is a debilitating state of mind resulted by lassitude, excessive pride aggravating into arrogance, aimlessness, and emotional stress from increased expectations. Most of the Starleague champions have confessed in official interviews, or through private writings(fan cafes, community boards, etc.) the existence of the 'curse', but only after they have suffered it greatly. After every season, the champions failed to break the curse. albeit their words of determinations(and expectations of the spectators). But, Nada has done it. (The fans generally agree that if the previous champion advances to semifinals in next season, he has broken the curse.)

[Shinhan Bank Season 3] CJ Ma Jaeyoon Interview "The fight begins now"

Ma Jaeyoon is man of few words. He merely blurts out when asked in an interview, "I was lucky", or "I was in a good condition". It was same for this match. Moreover, he refrained from saying much today after having defeated a teammate Park Youngmin. But, Ma Jaeyoon burns with the devil inside expecting the next match. After all, he is walking up the path of Royal Road.

-This is your fisrt semifinals in Starleague.
▶It is a bittersweet victory. I feel sorry after having fought and defeated a teammate. But, since I did defeat him, I will carry within his desire. I was really glad that Youngmin hyung personally came to my booth after the match.

-You were giving away tricky comments before the match.
▶Although I intended it to be just simple pun, he thought of it as a psychological game. I really did not have any sort of that intention.

-You are the only player participating in both leagues, and you advanced to both semifinals.
▶I am in a good rhythmical flow. I feel good, and my condition seems just as well. But, I will think this moment as my new starting line. Until now I have disregarded all the previous records against any opponent, but from now on I will analyze more and consider the records according to maps.

-You have bruised lips.
▶I slept late after thinking about today;s match. I thank Hanbit's Yoon Yongtae who helped me with training until early morning.

-How do you feel having performed in your hometown.
▶Many people including friends and parents came to cheer for me. Especially, this is my first time seeing my friends coming to see my game. I am happy I was able to show them a match that I won.

[Shinhan Season 3] CJ Byun Hyungtae Interview "I will be the leading man in the coup d'état army against the dominance of Ma Jaeyoon"

CJ Byun Hyungtae has changed in his vs Zerg matches. His assault timings have became sharper recently, and this time he has overwhelmed the opponent with strategy. After defeating Park Sungjoon, the next opponent awaiting is his own teammate Ma Jaeyoon. Whether or not he can overcome the wall of Zerg will be determined in the match up against Ma Jaeyoon.

-You have not only advanced to semifinals, but also acquired the wildcard(for Shinhan Masters)
▶Needless to say, I am happy. I was able to win this match because my family came to see me perform. Although I have acquired the wildcard for Shinhan Masters, I will think about the upcoming semifinals first. I will be the leading man in the coup d'état army against the dominance of Ma Jaeyoon.

-You are to fight Ma Jaeyoon.
▶I have not performed so well against Zerg in broadcasted matches because I was nervous, and made little but many mistakes. But, fighting teammates I am neither shaken up nor nervous. I think I have won half of the matches with Ma Jaeyoon.

-You did not let go of your handkerchief.
▶There are many things I have to prepare before the match. Wet Towel, Hot pack(*2), handkerchief, and so on; there are many. For the perfect match, I tend to not forget a single item everytime I play.

-You were harassed very much by Mutalisks.
▶I thought I would win if I persevere early harass by the Mutalisks. Many identical matches were experienced in training. Having gathered considerable number of Vessels, I thought it would be better for me if Gurdian showed up.

-It's 'teamkill'. How will you practice.
▶ Honestly, I wish Ma Jaeyoon can just stay in Daegoo and not come back to Seoul(smile). Jaeyoon is capable of producing excellent results with little to no practice, but I, to be honest, have to go through painstaking training(to compete). If Jaeyoon does come to Seoul, I think I'd have to persuade the head coach to allow me go to his(head coach) house(for trainning).

(*2)hot pack - It is a small stationary pack filled with some sort of 'stuff' inside, when repeatedly massaged it gives off heat. Very popular winter item in Korea used by all the generations. I have not seen in it the states yet, though(except in Korean markets).

You can get them at like any sports supply store here in the States. They are considered camping equipment really, for extremely cold weather.

Nada is so much more confident/arrogant than Savior is here today =D

Yes. I have always found NaDa waaay more arrogant than Savior. They may be doing it to intimidate opponents but seriously, in every interview NaDa says something about how he's the best and how he's going to show his next opponent how he's one level ahead of him.

lol we all saw this coming. All we need to do now is let Savior play Terran for his remaining matches and we'll have to watch 3 TvT matches!
I bet Savior would still win though

I know I haven't been saying this lately, but I really appreciate these interviews, rinizim. It adds a great deal of depth to these matches to know some of the drama that goes on. Not only do these give Progamers more character, but all the hype produced creates a buzzing atmosphere of anticipation for the upcoming games. The result is a greater exposure of the scene and more meaning behind the fighting. Always much appreciated, buddy.

Forever yours,

Perfect. Plays low-econ, high-econ, plays orthodox, plays funky, plays Mozart, plays Run-DMC. Micro, macro, strategy, management, fundamentals, and balls the size of Brazil. He plays Zerg the way the Xel Naga intended - like a ball of mercury. -HonestTea

very good picture.. The contrast between the cold surrounding and futuristic reflection with the mother comforting her son, quite moving

Nada was pretty cocky in that interview, no? Haha, I like it... There's been way too much modest bullcrap in interviews...

Hah, you're right, nice analysis

What FBH should realize is that he was able to climb to the playoffs of the freaking OSL in a relatively short amount of time. All that awaits him from now on is only further success. He's among the new batch of new players that I enjoy watching and feel will be in the top 10 within 1-2 years.

I should also add that anyone who found that picture moving better not have been amongst those losers who laugh(ed) at Midas during his public display of depression after his MSL semifinal loss to sAviOr and his losses to sAviOr in this OSL. All these guys slave over the game, practicing to enhance their skill and it all comes down to a couple 10-25 minute games that determines whether or not they can make their next big step in their professions.

NaDa's fine in arrogance. He still admits that sAviOr is better than him. At least he knows who is better. I still think he can take sAviOr if he doesn't do dumb shit like in game 1.

I wish FBH won vs Casy now D: he has awesome nickname.

LOL IRIS SAID HE WON HALF HIS MATCHES VS SAVIOR, THATS A LIE!!!!!! :D

I don't think this is a lie or an exaggeration. Practice games are different from tournament play, but we all know that savior is a rock solid competitive player where as Iris messes up quite a bit sometimes.

In an interview savior said that the 4 big names were almost always got the highest placing in team play rankings. (Savior, Xellos, Iris, Much)
I wouldn´t call him stupid, but let´s just say he´s unlucky when thinking...

▶I slept late after thinking about today;s match. I thank Hanbit's Yoon Yongtae who helped me with training until early morning.

Ah ofcourse, i forgot that sleeping in results in herpes. I'll keep that in mind for tomorrow
