Well alright TY got into stage 2 but that ex-Splyce match was terribly one-sided. Feel bad for Stats after that.

Great to see hiw make it. I'm really feeling bad for Stats too. It's a good consolation that he won Assembly because lately it's been so many things going wrong.

Tbh 2019 can eat a bag of dicks. Let's hope next year is significantly better.

PS. TSG flair when?

PPS. Hope Stats gets an invite to WESG. But looks like one is reserved for Serral

Man, that was online Stats. I'm not even sure he would be allowed to go to China anyway!

I mean, they're gonna invite Inno. He's the champion. And then probably 2 Chinese players and Serral again.

WESG organisers are a species in their own. Let's have four players qualify from northern Europe alone at not have Serral be one of them. (And only three from Korea). Sigh

You never know but one has to hope that the Classic affair cleared some things up and that these players now know how to handle the bureaucratic side of things.

Nice to see him take out Trap. Think he overall played very well. That mech game on eternal empire was really fun, and also showed how difficult is is to play with two siege units at the same time.

The bracket, on the other hand, is brutal.

Yeah. But not while the game is in this state and Dark is as good as he is at the moment.

Game state or Dark's shape have never been the main problem.

Dark's form is very much the main problem.

It's very much Dark's form and a bit of TY's form on top. Only times TY has beaten Dark in actual series in LotV was at IEM Shanghai in 2017 (where it very much looked like TY was the best player in the tournament by far until he went off the rails and herO reverse swept him). I believe Dark didn't handle travel well and got sick but I'd have to double check on that. And then 2 times last year in the lead-up to his GSL finals run, when Dark was in the closest thing to a slump we can attribute to him in the last few years.

Game state pretty much just affects how one-sidedly the matches end up in Dark's favor, not whether TY wins or not. When Terran was really favored in 2016 and TY's winrate in TvZ in practice was ~90% he still couldn't beat Dark in their offline matches. That said, it would be infinitely easier for TY if the loser bracket got changed and he plays the winner of Armani-Zest.

Cause frankly speaking, I don't believe that a Dark who can even beat Rogue would lose to TY. Even with the new patch throwing in some variables that might be in TY's favor. I don't think he can eek out the upset here. Players in the losers bracket are more favorable for him, but I'm not sure he can beat Trap like this again, was a bit of a strange series.

Couldn't agree more.

And yes, that Dark beats Rogue pretty much confirms that he is still in beast mode and on top of the world. Fully expect the 3-0 loss for TY unless Dark gets arrogant, which could lose him a map. Damn those tournament planners, it makes no sense that TY is going up against Trap/Rogue again. It did seem like Trap made the bigger/more mistakes in the series today, even though TY also lost a map by not having his tanks sieged.

I think all the games against Trap were at worst winnable and he didn't really have to lose 2 to begin with. But again, it was such a bizarre series. How many times can TY get away with proxy marauder? How many times is Trap going to do a horribly executed cheese? How often can Trap walk up a ramp through a choke and find an unsieged army with no-energy medivacs?

Don't think a potential rematch would ever look like this.

Well we got a fun series and TY actually played very well. Looks promising going in to next year.

AND - they switched around the bracket so he if he can take down Zest/Armany, we're in!

All TY has got to do is beat Armani and he'll get a shot an that massive prize pool. If he plays close to today's level it should be a clear victory. Armani really struggled with Maru's BCs and hellions opening btw.

He went reasonably close to defeating Dark, Armani shouldn't be a problem.
TY needs a korean title, let's hope he wins a Code S in 2020!

Good thing TY didn't miss the sign up, he got really close to that. He's looked really strong in a bracket against two of the greatest vT specialists the scene has to offer from their respective races. Now he can reward himself by finally making it to WESG again (because let's be real no Korean should fail APAC) against a significantly weaker Zerg player.

Armani looked really out of his depth against Maru's mech and BC play indeed. But TY should take him 100% serious nonetheless. Not worth risking an upset with some sort of 360-no-scout 3 CC on 1 rax play or something. Would be cool if the original WESG champion made it back in finally. He's had a rough patch with these qualifiers since 2016. And it's always good to have TY in more events.

Losing that game 3 on Nightshade probably hurts the most, that one at the very least seemed winnable for a long time. In game 5 he put up a strong fight from really far behind.

He did it. Now to see how the apac qualifier is organised. Surely they don't make the bracket so that two or more Koreans end up eliminating each other. But it is WESG, so you never know.

We all know that WESG is Korean terran payday so with the circle completed with Innovation's win last time, it should now start over with a TY victory this time

PS. Very happy to see that TY is starting to get hi-sec and building armor, even if he only does so after 20 mins.

He's been playing some proper TY games for sure. Unless APAC has less than 4 people going through the qualifier final, we can look forward to his performance at the main tournament already.
