It's impressive that he's playing at such a high level already.
It would be thrilling to see him play in ASL, ideally he would have time after Katowice!

I'd rather him not needlessly derail his SC2 career at its highest point when the remaining lifespan of SC2 in Korea is limited (much like his time before military service) while BW will always be a thing.

Wasn't expecting this at all, and I bet TY wasn't either, but now he's in the semis and obviously has a decent shot at another championship. It's been an amazing year for TY.

Well I knew he wasn't ever gonna beat Trap. His TvP didn't survive BW nearly as well as his other MUs did. Maybe he can advance a few rounds in TSL as well so the year ends on a good note.

You'll also see him at the Dreamhack Last Chance event in January (qualified by beating Rogue).

And TY will definitely try his best for the world championship. Sadly the format isn't as great for him as GSL, he works better with time to prepare for individual people. He can still make a somewhat decent run at TSL if he avoids everything Protoss from here on out (so pray Zest beats Ragnarok).

Nice to see him advance here. Hope he makes a deep run in a DH tournament for once. Would be nice to see him with a strong showing before the WC.

I don't think he would beat any of the Protoss players in this tournament and it would be very in character if he somehow ended up playing Serral or Reynor in the Ro8

Innovation into ByuN/Serral. Not bad at all. I like that if he is to play Serral he will at least know a day in advance. Should be doable.

Inno is the only 2nd place finisher he's favored against. Might still lose (cause Inno is a decent player), I think Ro4 is probably the end of the road though. ByuN has always been a problem stylistically for TY and Serral is a pretty okay (ZvT) player I've heard.

He would have to randomly tap into GSL winning form to get through the whole thing.

I guess it's good not to have too high hopes, also given it's an online (cross-server) tournament, but even though ByuN is not a good Terran for TY it's not like playing Dark in pre-2020. They've played only a few times since ByuN coming back and those have been close and I feel like if TY shows up he's still favoured. I may be wrong of course.

Not sure what to think about Serral's ZvT. Does it fluctuate with his other matchups or was TSL6 proof that it's one of the best again? Serral was not looking good today, if he carries on like that I think TY should take him, with his ST win against Dark in mind. TY has looked very good in TvZ tbh, when he shows up.

If TY doesn't show up he's just going to lose obviously.

Well that was sloppy. He showed some nice moves but overall to easy to run over. I think ByuN will be very difficult if TY had that much trouble defending Inno's attacks.

Yeah even though Serral makes some tactical blunders his execution looks superb. Difficult to see TY making it unless he has some really good stuff prepared, and that is obviously unlikely when only being able to prepare on the day of the match. In any case TY needs to be much more on point than he was against Inno.

TY without his bag of tricks makes for a sad fan

he showed some good moves, but I definitely don't feel like his textbook TvZ is at the level of most of the others out there. He has said the same before, right?

TY couldn't even win the first map and showed terrible macro in the first two games. I doubt how much time he spent on starcraft recently.

His mechanics aren't as good as other Terrans' so he has to rely on strategy, tactics and mindgames/builds to keep up with the best players. It's obvious and it's always been that way.
