Who is Virus? You might remember him from GSL October, where he almost beat Nestea in the Ro16 and denied HuK twice in the group stages. Alternatively there’s that terrible November Up-and-Down group when he looked like the worst terran in Korea.
A mostly overlooked player, Virus has been a mainstay of the GSL for quite some time. He qualified for Code A all the way back in March 2011 and since that antiquated era, he has never dropped out of the GSL. No matter how much he exasperated us with bad micro and inspired blood-curdling rage with build order victories, he always found a way to cling onto that Code S spot. Considering that great players like MC, Losira, and Polt all fell into Code B at one point or another, Virus’ tenacity is something to be admired.
But wait, what is this? Ensnare 2.0 is on quite the roll since the Korean qualifiers for MLG Winter Arena. Virus didn’t earn a spot but he had a nice quiet run through the losers bracket, defeating July and Yoda before dropping a close series to Ganzi. He edged out his Up-and-Down group with wonderful aggressive mech play against ForGG; one week later he showcased it again against Hoon and walloped Tassadar to win Startale’s team league match against New Star HoSeo. Even his play in the IPL4 open bracket showed marked improvement with wins over Sheth and Prime wunderkind Maru, and buried underneath all those series was an impressive loss to Parting. Now Virus completed his most arduous task, taking first place in his group with wins over MC and Nestea. That’s five GSL championships versus a guy who was widely regarded as the weakest Code S player. With his recent advancement into the Ro16 I think it's time to recognize that he's turned really damn good.
Truth be told, Virus has been showing some SICK results lately. I fully expect him to go far. Unfortunately, he needs to show consistency before I feel totally content with him. He definitely has my support though. Virus fighting!
It's ridiculous that you haven't had a fan club yet, but I've been a mad fan since you meched on Metalopolis against FruitDealer in code A waaaay back <3 Sign me up!
Virus' Round of 16 group has Supernova, Naniwa, and Genius. Considering that Supernova is usually a strong prep player and has looked very weak without it, Virus should focus more on his TvP. Genius is crafty as hell and Naniwa understands how to utilize a late-game protoss army. But I wouldn't bet against a player who's riding the hot hand.

Good first series against Supernova, although it's sad he didn't make it through (he looked very dejected after losing to Naniwa and it showed in his bad play). But overall, this is the best version of Virus we've ever seen. I hope he practices harder after this GSL and improves his weak points, particularly his micro.
I asked several Startale guys on twitter about Virus since it's been a while since he hasn't done anything... while still being on Startale's liquipedia page but Bomber just wrote in his chat that Virus retired a few months ago.

I guess there is no point in this fanclub anymore.
