although I am one of the biggest Sase fanboys I am not so sure about that. fraer is at least EXTREMELY close to sase's level. its actually ridiculous how good fraer is compared to how much credit he gets.

Are you serious? Do you honestly think Fraer would beat SaSe in a bo5 when both players are fully rested without jet lag and so on?
I mean SaSe has been a top player for a long time now and practices hardcore in korea.
I have a hard time imagining Fraer doing the run SaSe did last MLG.

IDK much about Fraer, only that he was good enough to qualify for an mlg arena but then had to be replaced by bling. I haven`t really seen much of him and can`t judge his overall skill level.
With regards to Sase , this was another impressive performance by him. I really do hope it all ends up with him earning a code S seed or fuck even just and up/down seed at some point in the future. He's so consistent and innovative it's a shame he doesn't get enough chances to show off.

it doesn't matter for how long sase's been a top player in this regard. both fraer and sase are top players rightnow and yes I think fraer is capable of beating sase in a bo5 when both are fully rested. not saying I'd give him an edge or anything, but lets say it this way.. I wouldn't be suprised if he would beat Sase convincingly again. also fraer is by no means new to the scene. He's been good for a while now but its hard to get noticed when you don't attend almost every LAN like HuK for example. I personally still think fraer and titan both belong to the absolute elite of foreign Protoss players. They are probably 1 step behind Sase and Naniwa because of lack of experience but they are definitely not lacking skills.
Sorry for praising another player in this fanclub but I just feel like you don't give enough credit to fraer. I mean come on, I'd understand if Sase lost to a way worse player, I'd be mad too then.. but fraer is a fucking beast and its not really much of an upset if you would know how good he is. Especially in PvP.
about MLG, we all knew before this run (those that follow him closely and not just look at tournamant top 3 finishes^_^) that Sase was WAY better than his results. In the last months he had plenty of chances to prove himself and he did very well mostly but the last MLG was his best performance in a really big tournament yet. It had to happen at some point, it was just a matter of time. I am sure that if you gave fraer many chances to prove himself in MLG's etc he would show good results aswell. It is impossible to be good and not show at least a few good performances over a longer period of time.
fraer in terms of popularity etc is kinda like Sase a little over a year ago. He was fucking good even back then but people didn't even consider him when they talked about top foreign players. He then went to Korea and people started to get impressed with him because he did so fucking well on the Korean ladder. After MLG Orlando last year more and more people recognized him and also the fact that he joined a rather "unknown" team at the time helped him to gain more exposure.
I can tell you guys the best indication for potential is still the ladder, believe it or not. Sase had over 2000 games played during one of the earlier seasons with 75% winrate, no other Protoss was even close to that during that time. I started to get interested in him because he was so unknown but he had a much better ladderrecord than many well known top players.. there has to be a reason for that. I always try to get my hands on replays of the current top ladder players and it is more than apparent that players who do well on ladder are the top players of tomorrow, they ARE good already but they lack offline experience most of the time and LAN results is what people want to see. Players like fraer/titan, SortOf and BabyKnight are the next hot top players, watch out for them in the near future.

Fair enough! And by no means do i think Fraer is a bad player. I mean he beat SaSe so. But still....... it was PvP!
And i still think SaSe is the better player (Dat fanboy within!)

Just want to explain myself a bit more. For now i think SaSe is the better player overall. Because one loss against a relatively unknown player doesn't make me think SaSe is worse than that opponent he lost to.
If Fraer proves himself even more in the future and beats pro's on a regular basis and beats SaSe again, then we can speak. Im not saying SaSe will be the better player forever but atleast for now because afterall Fraer needs to prove himself more before someone can say that he is on SaSe's level imo.
He might be on SaSe's level. But no one knows that atm. Not even himself because no matter how good you are you need to have some evidence in form of long time results that shows both himself and other people that he is a consistantly high performing player.
One good tournament result basically means little to nothing. Unless it's in the GSL i guess ^^
What matters is if you can keep performing well and show if it was a fluke or not.

Fraer needs to prove himself for the majority of sc2 followers who are bad players most of the time and just watch at results and follow the latest trends as to who is "hyped" at the moment and stuff. People who follow the scene closely, watch replays of him etc know hes a beast already. Even if he would fuck up the next 2 major LANs his results would still be acceptable... also his dreamhack performance IS already impressive considering how little opportunities he had compared to other players.^^ Look at HuK's results and compare them to SaSe's, they seem much better but now look at how good they are rightnow and I can guarantee you that Sase is the better player. this is kinda the same situation. I am not saying fraer is better than Sase, but he is closer to Sase in terms of skill than you realize.
man this is so offtopic, maybe lets create a frear fanclub and discuss it there? :D definitely deserves one. lets keep this thread for Sase, I feel like this discussion is not appropriate here
