Now I am sure he trained his match-ups more carefully, especially something to counter the immortal sentry all-in he has trouble against especially since he will face potentially 2 PvZ specialists. Unless he has a smurf account, which no one has been able to identify, he hasn't been training at all -- at most he's been averaging 2 or 3 games a day on the ladder. He's only been playing in tournaments. He probably could make tweaks in his play without practicing but no one, even Stephano, is as sharp as he could be if he's not practicing. Yeah, and you're able to see the decline in his mechanics from back when he was practicing a lot on ladder every day to now. Nerchio won HSC V, beat MC 3-1 and Yonghwa 4-1. He's #1 EU GM, with a 70% win rate. Does that ring a bell? Because it's what Stephano was before he started winning a lot of tournaments, though he had a higher win rate that I think was up to 85-90%. There's one Zerg smurf on EU GM that has a higher win rate than Nerchio - Tentaculat. Don't know who that is, but I think we said before that it wasn't Stephano?

The last qualifier he was doing fine, but ran into some bad scheduling problems. He probably would have won that day because he was breezing threw it effortlessly. I expect he will win it easily when he plays this time around. But yes his lack of practice is really starting to become a concern, if he is really being honest and has no smurf accounts.. Something just does not seem right. Playing 2 games a day and still being a top player? thats only going to last for so long . I dont really worry to much though, because he is a really smart player, and mechanics come back pretty fast if you previously had them with little practice. anyway Stephano number 1!!!

In a recent interview, he mentioned he doesn't have a proper home. Furthermore he has been travelling a lot. It's sad for all of us, but in a sense it's the direct consequence of his results. Look at the tournaments he participated since the beginning of 2012 : Home Story Cup IV - 2012-01-05 (Ro16) Assembly Winter - 2012-02-24 (2nd) MLG Winter Championship - 2012-03-23 (Defeated in the Open Bracket by Inori) IPL 4 - 2012-04-06 (5/6th) MLG Spring Arena - 2012-05-18 (3rd) MLG Spring Championship - 2012-06-08 (5/6th) DreamHack Summer - 2012-06-16 (3rd/4th) Lone Star Clash - 2012-03-17 (1st) Red Bull Battlegrounds - 2012-05-26 (3rd) The numbers and the results are just incredible. Aside from MLG Winter Championship and HSC - where he was drunk - he placed no lower than 6th in EVERY major and premier tournaments he entered and won EVERY french tournament he entered : eOSL Winter 2012, LDLC Winter Trophy and recently the WCS France Finals. No other player had this kind of consistency throughout 2012 in foreign tournaments. Not even MC, even though he won more of them. I'm starting to wonder if we aren't spoiled, and are expecting and demanding too much of him. I, too, am disappointed by the fact that he still uses the same play-style as 6 months ago. Let's hope he can have holidays and come back next year stronger (and hopefully in Millenium again)

It's been previously confirmed in these pages that tentaculat is not stephano -- his hotkeys are different. It's probably Violet. Didn't see HSC V, but good for Nerchio.

Although his mechanics are slightly slipping he still had the best month and a half / two month run of any zerg on the International scene (including DRG) -- 3 rd at spring arena, 3/4th at red bull and 5/6th at spring championships and 3/4 at dreamhack. He's been #1 overall in Elo for most of that period and only recently was overtaken by DRG and now Nerchio. Since I follow his match history pretty closely -- and as noted above no one is aware of a smurf account -- he had that run while basically only playing in tournaments. You have to be amazed by Stephano's results all things considered. This guy is an exceptional talent.

This guy is arguably the best zerg on the planet (if you exclude GSL results from the equation) over the past two months and he's hardly even practicing. Jaedong loves him. What more could anyone ask for in a zerg player?

stephano hasnt had a good tournament win in a long time. Lone Star Clash - 2012-03-17 (1st) 4 month. who got more major tournament win than him in the same period of time ? or LSC maybe not a "good tournament win" ...
