yes, and 1-2 years of playing dont seem that bad. i mean he can study then too. and with more then 100k in every year of playing it´s a good income for the time after playing ;D

I would actually find it awesome if he stopped cold after this year - what a story that would be.

Would be awesome if Stephano won MLG *and* accepted a Code S spot next season... I would really like to see how he compares to some of the best players in the world. Beyond that, his 50/50 record at Blizzcon there (or w/e it was) showed that he has the skills to compete, and he's gotten better since then I think.
I could understand why he wouldn't want to though. Committing to GSL takes away a lot of potential winnings in European tournaments.

Yep, awesome for a week, and then, no more crazy finales... No thank you
Even money wise, it would be kinda stupid to stop. He's sooo young, probably doesnt have many expenses (I bet almost everything is paid by his team and sponsors), so his $100k earnings are just a huge bonus (in THE BANK). And yes, an engineer would quite easily earn $100k/year, but actually saving 100k is haaard ^^.
But really, it's all about not wasting his talent for me ^^.

Winning MLG coming from the open bracket will be quite tough... If he can make it to the groups, C and D will be very good for him: C : Huk, Violet, Socke, Ret : He would be the favorite here D : Oz, Parting, Grubby, TheSTC : 3 protoss including 2 code S protoss, that would be a great test! On the other hand, group A would be insane, with MC, MKP and the korean terran Ganzi...and Sase is good too

I just hope he make it strait to pool play. If he lose 1 match in the open bracket its allmost impossible to get a good result. If he however go 2-0 in every match and then get into pool play I like his chances of getting very high.
But the problem is the open bracket. Polt and Stephano could meet eachother in the open bracket thats how hard it is

There's an MLG tradition where you compete in MLG for the first time, come from the open brackets and win the whole thing in an insane run i.e. Naniwa, Leenock. And if anyone is capable of going 12-0 or whatever in the open brackets it's Stephano, he has something like a 85% win streak in the EU ladder and even against certain pros. I don't see him placing in anything other than top 3. And for that matter Polt can do a gruelling run as well.

It's not his first MLG, and he got knocked up in the open bracket last time. And naniwa did not come from the open bracket when he did his amazing run.

For Stephano, it's not really how much he's making that worries him, but how much he's going to make a year or two from now. He doesn't want to get stuck in a dead-end with no education, and is smart enough to know that he's not going to be as good as he is forever. A lot of pro-gamers don't ever think about this question, in a I'm young and the party never stops sort of way, but Stephano looks further than that.
That's a positive way of seeing it; a negative way is that his passion for SC 2 isn't high enough for him to sacrifice his future finances for it, as other players have. Cheering for Stephano has ever had this bitter sweet taste to it, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing - that which doesn't last long is made more precious by its transience. Cherish the time Stephano has left and try to watch everything you can of him; that's how I see it.

Naniwa didn't lose a game through his run in the MLG Dallas open bracket.

Especially right after a tournament win. Its sad to see greats like boxer/nada/july and even the first greats of sc2 like MVP and Nestea slow down and eventually retire after they reach a point where the don't win at all.
Leaving while your on top will make you remembered as "the one who would still be the best" even if he might not have been kind of like savior.

Apparently IGN Fight Club have Stephano lined up to participate. Violet is the current champion and once he gets knocked out, Stephano will get an invite to play. They don't want a mirror-match, so will wait until Violet is eliminated before Stephano steps in. MC is a possibility to be Violet's next opponent, so if MC beats Violet then it will likely be a Stephano vs MC BO9 Showmatch for $500 at IPL Fight Club!
Sounds great! \o/

Stephano was offered a code S spot and turned it down so I don't think winning MLG will give him any motivation to go to Korea. I believe his reasons for not going are the level of competition is too high relative to the payout (ie, it's easier to earn money in European and International tournaments, a fact no one disputes) and he misses his friends and family if he stays in Korea for too long. I think if he had more friends in Korea and didn't have to miss a lot of the EU tournaments he would go. He's stated apparently that he plans to go back to Korea for a couple weeks, just to practice.
