and you gotta hand it to polt, he played like a beast today. Anyways, still + 6k to the bank ![]() what i wonder though is why stephano didnt use broodlords more. I know he researched melee upgrades, and ultras are the logical follow up there, but although broodlords initial attack are ranged, the broodlings they shoot actually profit from melee upgrades, so shoudlnt that be a very viable choice as well?

Polt played supremely well and Stephano was able to get leads in basically every game, which leads me to believe that he has yet to his ceiling and that he will learn from this and come back even stronger. I thought Stephano played exceptionally well, in general. 4-1 does not reflect how close these games were. Awesome series and Stephano is still the man! Totally agree with that. You could see ZvT was Stephano's worse matchup as he was unable to make the best decisions when he took the lead. Against protoss or zerg, he rarely if ever throws games away like that :-( Maybe it's because there is no terran of Polt's level with such resilience to train with in EU, maybe it's because he doesn't train enough vs Terran, but you can feel there is some room of improvement in his late game. His builds were excellent and he could have won games 3 4 5 after the midgame advantage, he is still excellent vs Terran, but he lacks the game instinct he has vs Protoss because he knows them so well. Props to Polt to keep fighting back, his play was amazing and his use of marines and tanks so good. Deserved win, for sure, but I hope Stephano studies the replays and that there will be a revenge !

I feel like its my fault though, the only games I caught live were the finals ![]() I don't know if I could have handled EVEN WATCHING the full 7 game series though. The ling/ultra/infestor strat is a nightmare to watch on these cliff and ramp heavy maps. Polt put on a tank spreading, cliff abusing clinic. He played amazing, but as a Stephano fan and zerg player it was excruciating to watch . Stephano was afraid of committing to muta's when he needed it most. If his control with muta/ling/bling approached his control with ling/infestor he'd have cleaned up, game 4 and been on his way.... but somewhere in the tech to broodlord, he left a giant hole in his defense. Probably just a momentary lapse, but thats how tough the competition was on this day. The highlight, was the Game 1 comeback where Ultra's could not be killed. Culminating in the first time in STARCRAFT history that a non Korean took over the international TLPD elo ratings. ![]() Hopefully, not the last. Go Stephano!

Agreed. He just needs to practice this match a little bit more against Polt level Terrans (Millenium please send him to Slayers' house just for a couple weeks ![]() As an aside, it's funny when MC left OGS people worried whether his level of play would drop because of a lack of practice partners, but Stephano has not been practicing his vT in custom games lately (playing almost exclusively vP because he likes it best), and thus only practices it in tournaments and on the EU ladder; any other player would be whining about how poor his preparation was to face someone like Polt, and it totally was. (Stephano won't whine so I will whine for him ![]() I get the feeling Stephano wants to keep playing; this is very good news not just for his fans but for Starcraft II.
