One question: Game 01 against Maru looked like you were ahead midgame. Could you tell from your point of view how you were feeling there? Did you feel/knew you had the advantage at that point? A little bit sad because I made a few mistakes that I usually don't make even If I knew I was ahead. I put down the spire but in the end I didn't make it so I must have missclicked or something else and my corruptors were late. My 3/3 didn't start for like 2-3 minutes because I forgot about that after I tried making it and not having enough money. Also I was lost about how to approach Maru's set up in the middle of the map.

GODchio - how far he's come! Didn't even flame a single time in-game - impressive XD

Thanks for the amazing games and good luck at Blizzcon!

I guess your missed biles which didn't take down his libs which added up throughout the game, allowing him having many libs above the forth on the high ground first, and in the middle of the map later. Usually you take the libs with this biles, and more then one in an engagement, which didn't happen early (going for his third first with the first Ultras), and later on.
I remember you switch you speed bane when the terran shifts to ghosts, something which didn't happen. I guess his harass on your 4th, 5th and 6th bases didn't allow you to.
He adjusted by making pure libs without any medivacs, so I guess leaving an Ultra at each expo would have denied him sniping those expansions (as far as I remember, his forces arrived there on foot, he wasn't dropping there at the later stages of the game, yet denied these expansions).
Why didn't you make the nydus you sometimes make when you get to Ultras? Getting on top of his production and later on coming from another direction towards his 3rd or 4th could give him trouble splitting his sieged armies which was his first counter to Ultras. He switched to ghosts way later then many terrans. You probably knew that by the gas spending on those libs with his late third and his low eco play.

Hey Nerchio, I have a mildly personal question for you.
You talk a little shit sometimes, but you are an honest and really not a mean person. I've never felt like you get out of line or anything, and mostly you're realistic.
In game 3 vs maru, when he dropped the mules, do you just take that in stride or do you feel like "wow this guy's really being a dick?". Or maybe you just don't care because you are too busy thinking about how you lost?
To me, I am sure you've practiced so much and put in so much effort, and then you fly to korea, and you put up a good showing but don't get through the group - I am sure it's really disappointing. And from my perspective, it really just seems heartless to drop mules just to rub it in. It seems like it'd be a lot nicer to - I dunno - show respect to an opponent who maybe performed quite well and gave you good games? Seeing as how they are probably already very disappointed?
Anyways, it's not like this is an uncommon thing in sc2. Sometimes the BM is a little more justified, sometimes it's not. But I think there is a big difference between being outspoken before a game and trashing someone right when they lose. Just wondering what your take on this is.

It depends, if I had some kind of 'BM' rivalry with someone then I would probably do the same in some of the games even if they would be in tournament because it's a lot more fun and adds spice to the game. To be honest I don't care about any manner muling or shit talking about me so it doesn't really bother me what my opponents are doing but I think this kind of BM is a little bit meaningless if there is no back story to it. Also not going out of the group is disappointing for sure but right now there is too much going on in Starcraft 2 to really care a lot about results of just 1 tournament especially with Blizzcon coming up very soon. I treated this tournament as a fun challenge and a nice trip in my Starcraft 2 career since I've never been to Korea so I had to go at least once. I couldn't care less about BM, I actually would prefer players to be a little bit more entertaining rather than just "Gl Hf" "GG"

Cool, thanks. I figured it probably didn't really bother you much. You seem pretty focused.

Probably my favorite moments are when players are chatting with each other in online events at the start or when cheesing. I remember Marinelord having a nice conversation with someone while cheesing them hard and it was hilarious.

Yeah jobs well done Nerchio, pretty sure your Group had the highest viewer count of any other group. I miss people doing showmanship style BM a lot nowadays Its so effective to gain any interest for people to watch and follow a storyline.
Good games as well, cant wait to see how Blizzcon will be. If you don't mind answering a random question about game 3 vs Maru : His build seemed insane on this specific map if you take the 6 o clock 3rd base, to win that game what kind of reaction/build should you have done here?(not counting 2 base muta)
It actually looked good from a newbie perspective from you, sniping medivacs+tanks and only losing a queen here and there?

Nice display of high level sc2! Too bad it wasn't enough to qualify for ro8. However this means that you'll be able to watch a lot of BoX from future Blizzcon competitors without showing some of yours yourself. I didn't see his TvZ games yet but TY seemed to qualify easily, do you think he mixes it up enough/will it be relatively easy/doable to prepare for someone like him at Blizzcon if you end up in his group? (playstyle wise because he is very solid in standard play ofc) And in general, if it's 2 WCS / 2 KR players in each group, since you managed to beat at least one kor and the format seems to be the same as it'll be in Blizzcon ro16, are you confident that you'll be able to beat at least 1 KR and another WCS player or you want to avoid ZvZ at all costs even if it's a foreigner?
I'm eager to see you battle it out at Blizzcon :D.

With only 1 Zerg in the ro8 I doubt many players are gonna be shwoing of their vZ builds anyway lol
On Blizzcon though, assuming the liquipedia page is correct with the groups Nerch will be in A, which is Dark, Elazer/Hydra, and the other Korean will be either TY or Stats I believe.
I wonder what he thinks of this actually, I'm gonna be honest and say I think he has a pretty unlucky group. ZvZ is obviously a rather dodgy matchup, and Stats and TY might have the best vs Zerg of their races.

TBH, He can make it out vs Stats and Elazer or Hydra. Maybe even TY since Nerchio's TvZ is great as well. One problem with Bo3 is that there are some pretty bad maps for ZvT like KSS and Galactic because of that specific push. I think in a Bo5 with more variety in maps he can do it. Especially if he figures out TY's mech style.

I think I was defending quite well given the circumstances. I had a really bad start - I opened pool first and my 2 lings got caught, then I lost a very important creep tumor that would've helped in defending my 3rd base and it snowballed from there on. Maybe taking the other 4th base would help me but the biggest mistake was forgetting roach speed or just making it too late.

ZvZ is a little bit stupid in Lotv it's almost impossible to prepare for it to feel good about your skill in the match up :D too many builds and things that can happen and change the result of the game completely

TY would be absolutely awful because what I've seen from him in Kespa Cup is really scary. I still think I can beat anyone especially if I will have a good day so I am not afraid but a lot of ZvZs would be a sad group and would leave me with disappointment if I happened to lose the games.

how do u join the fan club? i never joined one before :D but beside beeing a terra player i was so impressed with nerchios play at kespa cup so i wanna join !
|
Nerchio, after playing in Korea for a few days, how do Korean terrans compare to strongest foreign terrans like MLord or uThermal?
|
Nerchio is there a chance that you gonna stream in the future ??

There must always be a room for improvement. Many zerg progamers once said something similar about BW ZvZ - that it is a rock scissor paper and your skills doesn't matter half as much as your luck. Then Jaedong ate everybody alive constantly using 9 pool speed ling builds (which *should* lose to 12 pool but he didn't)

So at Blizzcon it is going to be Nerchio, Dark, Elazer/viOLet and Stats in Group A. Looks pretty tough... but doable.
I hope Dark & Nerchio make it while Elazer gets into Group D.

Congrats Artur for winning WESG EU!
Solid performance, can't wait for the global finals, BlizzCon and HSC!
