It was actually Ret who pasted it somewhere on TL if I remember correctly.

Banjo/Bonjovi is basically a funny word play on Bonjwa. And it just stuck I guess.

That's all I know.

Kennigit is on State of the Game right now, and he just confirmed that it was le Reddit who came up with it a while ago. It's a play on the word Bonjwa that that hivemind of the Reddit community thought up first ironically, but then it got more and more serious as time went and it bloomed now with MLG Providence.
