he's a great player sure but isnt it a little inappropriate to have a fanclub thread when he's still banned from TL events for cheating/abusing in a TSL?

The opinions expressed on our forums do not reflect the views and opinions of TeamLiquid.net or its staff.
I thought his play at IEM was so good, even in the group stages. In game 1 vs Lucifron, his ingenious fast nydus almost won the game, had he transitioned to macro he would have won, however I think that game helped Dimaga win the other games as well. In game1, Lucifron clustered his buildings, afraid of mutas. Then after the nydus play, in game 2, dimaga went mutas, and Lucifron's buildings were all spread out, because he was afraid of the nydus. The mutas now had so many areas to pick at, and Lucifron didn't know how to place his buildings.
I think these transitions make him a very good player at tournaments, and any bo3/bo5/bo7 match.
Signing up on this one without a doubt. Just looking at that guy enter the stage with the biggest grin in the whole room was enough to make me happy, and that second game today was just beastly.

I wouldn't say people forgot but rather either didn't know to begin with or have forgiven him. Yeah he cheated, and the ban was warranted but I (note I) wouldn't put it on the same level as maphacking.

Exactly
Just because he cheated, doesn't mean we have to spite him forever and ostracize him from TL as a whole. He's still a great zerg player.

He also cheated in a ton of BW tournaments, and yes he did use maphack, and for the tournaments where he plays at home, he DCs alot when rushed and also hacks for a ton of games including DOW2.
He literally hacks a whole bunch.(Yes i know him irl)

On August 22 2010 14:13 Ftrunkz wrote: need a gif of him rage-celebrating after beating morrow on blistering imo, that was pretty awesome
Oh yeah that would be cool. But it was even more epic when Morrow was just sitting between his bases, and Dimaga was throwing wave after wave of banelings/ultras/drops and so on but just couldn't break the defense and you could see he was shouting in the bottom right screen.
Must have been so satisfying to win that game at the end, too bad Morrow used mass reapers to win the series.
he seems like a really fun guy irl.. always smiling during his interview and laughing... and then when the games not going his way, he's shouting at swearing at himself in his little portrait... was funny to see <3 dimaga
I like his playstyle, I like his smile, I don't like the fact he cheated but I also think the format of the tournament didn't help much there, not forgiven but I can't help but think hes one of the more entertaining sc2 zergs to watch.
You are a great player and opting for a re-make vs Tarson after that computer crash was pure-awesome. GL and I hope you become the greatest zerg in sc2. Cuz that IdrA douche is just lame.
Gotta say I wasn't such a huge fan of Dimaga before Gamescon, but after seeing how much of a class guy he is and how god damn happy he is all the time - hes made a fan of me!

Exactly this from me as well. Way to go Dimaga and gratz on your excellent performance in IEM!
God damn Dimaga is such a cool person! I've just seen his IEM game vs. Tarson and what an enthusiastically, wam and loveable character with his positive appearance and huge grin on his face
In this tournament I really think he's grown and expanded upon his more all-in-ish style gameplay to feel comfortable in his mid/late-game sense and mechanics. Was such a joy to watch him own with a smile and play really well
Also I heard in the cast he was dancing at one point or something? Anyone has a VOD of that or something? Would be so cool to see
I always found his Zerg playing style really amazing (except those few games here and there where he was tilting).
But I didn't want to really become a fan because of some things in the past. And I hope that he learned his lessons and never does something like that again.
But well,
Seeing his sportmanship in the game vs Tarson, seeing how much "emotion" he shows, I just really like people who are really passionate about the game and show it. Nothing is more boring then some robots like Idra just sitting down, doing their mechanical oriented gameplay and then just standing up after a game not looking any differently.
So yes, I am officially a fan now since IEM ^^
Oh and that bling/ling/infestor play against demuslim on metalopolis after he 15hatched, omg :o He plays Zerg like Zerg, the terran takes a position on the map and he just swarms in from everywhere on the map.
And because of him I actually want to practice more and play to become better and do all that sort of stuff with that ease.
Also I heard in the cast he was dancing at one point or something? Anyone has a VOD of that or something? Would be so cool to see
I participated at the ESL Players Party, Dimaga was also there and danced all night long. Quite fun to join up with those great guys. :D I also took some footage with my camera. ^^ It's just 1:45 long or so, but shows the whole area and dimaga dancing. :D
got to say, Dimaga sure looked awesome when he got 3rd place in IEM.
gave lots of energy to the whole place, and he was the highlight of the reward ceremony for me. IdrA, even though he placed higher, felt like he was killing the mood in the ceremony, but I guess he had his reasons, since he lost a "grudge" match.
Also I heard in the cast he was dancing at one point or something? Anyone has a VOD of that or something? Would be so cool to see

We NEED to see Dimaga dancing!
Edit: I can imagine it will be something like this:
I always loved Zerg after seeing Dimaga in action on IEM agains Morrow, man he is awesome he respect other players and can mantain hes focus on the game no matther what happened. Now he's the main reason i'm practicing alot more with Zerg! Hail Dimaga :D
I was a fan of Dimaga in BW, but after seeing the passion that he have, character, manners and the enthusiasm that he have, made me like even more and respect him. He did a mistake in TSL i think he is already regret of that...
TymerA: Thanks for the screenshot! Hope you don't mind that I took it!
Day[9]: Very good 7000th post and you did a very good job commentating Dimaga(and all the other players ofcourse) in the ESL!
And to everyone: I am moving at the moment, so I'm a little bit busy, but I will update the op with more stuff soon, so be sure to send me som on PM if you have!
sign me up! also, i had fucking blisters everywhere on my feet after raving the whole fucking night with tarson dimaga and a couple other guys whose names i dont know but who are as baller as the two as well.
Never been a fan before, but why not, I love Dimaga's personality and play. Without Dimaga, the scene on IEM would look like a nerdfest with people who has no emotions.

Also shitloads of Z builds. Nobody gives him credit for builds, because TLO uses unorthodox builds, Dimaga defines the orthodox for zerg. He's really, really creative.
I am a huge fan of Dimaga. Let me specify. I am not normally one that ever becomes a fan of a single player ever. Never happened for me in BW. Currently I'm a 1500 Diamond Protoss and after watching a bit of his replays he has convinced me through creative play that Zerg is awesome. I am now picking up Zerg and within two days am already at the 1400 Diamond Zerg level.
Dimaga has so many little things he does in his games that make him so great. It's his though process and his creativity as well as his solid mid/late game that make him amazing. Go Dimaga
About Dimaga's cheat / abuse on TSL. It was 1or 2 win-trade. For those who don't know, hundreds (700+ was a record) games were played by each player on ladder "round".
In last days was situation, that nobody want to play Dimaga, among europeans, and he got very bad connection to korea. So he, cheated by giving him self a 1 or 2 free wins. Just to be confident in saving his rank. Of course, it was stupid decision, 'cos those freewins was like waterdrop in a sea, comparing to amount of games, and decided nothing. But a fact is fact.
And forget this, cheating it is not Dimaga's nature .
I love his play so much (I watch Day[9]) and actually started doing his opening vs Terran that was shown in episode 226. I wanted some place more permanent than a sticky note to put it, so I made a page for the Liquipedia. On a side note, why does the liquipedia strategy section suck so much?
I really like Dimaga, such a solid player I first came to like him in a match against TLO, where dimaga went from muta, to mass queens, to mass hydra.... standard play there

Awesome games from him today at gsl world championship. Had he played against July directly instead of throwing the others in first, this could have been even better.

I just came here to make this post.
I was a huge dick about the TSL2 thing. That was bad.
The sad thing is that he actually didn´t need it. But you have to consider he was just abusing a points system, it´s not like he maphacked. To me that´s a huge difference and I think it should be for everyone.

Seeing a player play like this was jaw-dropping. What he did in TSL2 was stupid and lame, and he is still paying it by not being able to be part of TSL3, but seeing this guy all cheerful, smiling, playing at his best restored the faith I have in him being a good person.
Has been fan since his FPVODs by which I learned in Brood war. I wish people would drop this "Baneling bust Dimaga mode" stereotype, because he's actually really solid macro player and was known for it in BW. He just abused the fact that terrans didn't wall off properly and did not scout after first SCV in beta .
^ exactly, this is very annoying when ppl say "he is known for his baneling busts". Lol.
He is streaming on russian sc2 site pretty much every week and u basically never see him going for any cheeses whatsoever, he prefers to play extremely solid macro style.
I first learned of DIMAGA after i was destroyed by him in a ESL cup, respected him ever since. But after seeing his play at the GSL: WC I cant help but comment, I'm not sure if it was the "last hope" syndrome kicking in, but the final three games played by Dimaga had me on the edge of my seat at every moment, totally entertained. I think he belongs in that tournament far more than many of the people in it currently.
This is the way the world works. If you're late to a job interview you're most likely not going to be given the job. It's not NASL's fault he couldn't be punctual.

Nice video, but god whoever did the video editing needs to learn the art of subtlety. I was getting nauseous watching that, too many pans and spirals and annoying camera effects.
Playxp: What were your thoughts after watching foreign players play?
July: I had a strong impression on MVP vs Dimaga match. Also against Nestea. I felt Dimaga is a strong player. I felt he played better in the last match, than against me. Dimaga felt like he is a player who gets better as he plays. I also felt TT1 played very well. Over all similar, but different apporach to the game. (shit... sorry i do not know if this is a correct translation).

If u open NASL thread there is a HUEG announcer at the top where is written:
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.
Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't."
Congrats on beating Nestea, especially game 3 was amazing, I really love the burst switches between agression and economy.. and the team matches as well.. just amazing.
Also, thank you for doing the ZvZ analogies with MrBitter (who is also the bomb!) on 12 week with the pros, extremely insightful.

From what dimaga says in the interview he made the video on time he just wasnt aware of the other extra stuff he had to submit.

I was really sad we didn't get to see much more of DIMAGA at big tournaments after IEM. <3 his GSL performance. I hope he can beat that rather pathetic San to the ground too :D (disclaimer: i might have a slight zerg bias when it comes to appreciating people's skill - i have zerg blood too :D)
Zerg simply needs +50 supply or P needs a huge nerf. I have seen it so many times, P just mass stalkers or do the deathball and 1 A-click and its GG.
I rly think its detrimental to the game I mean come on guys, we are seeing pro gamers being eliminated by armies a-clicking. The game is soon going to loose its flavour and it doesnt matter how much money blizzard is pouring into it.
Dimaga actually showed how retarded is PvZ in the last game. P basicly was on 2 base, got his stalker ball, spammed random forcefields and basicly lost 0 units. Thats awesome.

the better player? No evidence.
I doubt you would argue nestea, July and MVP are better players than San, and dimaga has stomped them, but as soon as a PvZ comes it looks like a masters vs a plat player after the battle as San loses little to no units, dimaga was ahead in upgrades and bases and supply etc and still lost the battle, is this proof enough or do u need more?
there is always place that blizzard can improve but remember sc1? the game took a while before getting balanced so that is probably be the same thing with sc2. Dimaga showed us that his baneling drop against that protoss worked pretty well (could have won those 2games). If i was right there is some of the big CEO of blizzard that were up there so maybe some top players talked to them about the game and what they should chance.
Dimagas bane drops of 2 bases was definaly an all-in, worked exactly 50% of the time because P prepared poorly. Balancing the matchup around idea that sometimes Z can win with all-ins is not a very bright idea.
If ppl don't see that PvZ is broken now they are absolutely blind. Not only 100% of top zergs say so but a lot of top Protosses aswell (f.e. WhiteRa).
Seriosly, watching PvZ feels like this game is still in the beta stage of balance
@marcus420 there should be no need to elaborate, his mistakes were clear as the sun, in the first match he gave up a free win because he didnt build enough spines and units and tried to tech to much, preparing (maybe) for a late game wich was never gonna come
in the second match his drops did no damage and he invested a lot on them
i'm a big fan of dimaga but he deserved to lose those

You're aware that San convincingly beat Nestea in the past, and was named the 3rd best Protoss player by MC, right? Furthermore, you act like Dimaga didn't play against a July who had just played 5 games himself, and didn't have MVP disconnect in the first game where MVP had a clear advantage, then baneling-busted MVP. We don't know if Dimaga could take MVP in a Bo3, although I was thoroughly impressed by Dimaga's ZvZ since beating Nestea in a bo3 is no small feat. I'm not trying to take anything away from Dimaga because he greatly impressed me in the disconnect game against MVP and his ZvZ looks extremely strong, but your attempt to apply the transitive property to starcraft players is quite flawed, as is your oversimplification of Dimaga's recent achievements.

mb forcefields are not imba, but ZvP is imbalanced for sure. if you do not catch enemy's army while moving or do not all in -> u just loose. If protoss is ready for the battle, and has a good position and enough forcefields, he can blow zerg army and do not lost even a single unit. lol.
whats the counter for the mass-forcefields? hm let me think... ultralisk! awesome. super awesome. Besides that ultralisk is omg expensive , it is also a super-miserable piece of shit without infestors. sorry.
i do not argue the fact that dimaga was besides in the last game, but how is it possible to waste the whole limit and do not kill a single unit of protoss? just wtf. im enraged after this game
Wish he got to play a terran or a zerg so he could've unleashed his full power andget even further, but $5000 plus a great experience in Korea vs great players, surely a satisfying trip for DIMAGA.
God I hate protoss -.-
Anyway, i love dimaga, i'm a terran and normally will support terrans over anything, but dimaga is right up there for me, great player and great guy!
I gotta say I don't really like the fanclubs. But every time I see dimaga i just have to smile. The guy just shows disappointment or happiness with his whole face and body. I can't help but get enthusiastic when he plays.

Then slayers MMA is the best player in the world? BO1 never tells you the class of the player. Furthermore those were just event matches. Korean players didn't even do their best judging from their interview. I think you ignore the state of real tournament. Sen stomped MKP easily in event match. And the result of their match in real wc tournament?
More people should be as positive and nice as this guy, the world would be a better place!

he will be able to attend, his ban was running till the end of 2010 i think and next TSL which alraedy happened
im so happy that dimaga won this tournament )) someday i will cheer dimaga at a tournament in real life. GOGO muscle zerg xD your play inspires me to go training )
supposedly he got something like leg injury and wasnt practicing for long time enough (around DH/HSC3 time) but it was like 2 month ago, hes in shape now
hahaha dimaga won 4pl liga with 7 evo chambers full wall off move vs beastyqt
beasty did weird opening and attacked with 15 blue hellions, dimaga had only 1 queen and spine crawler and 10 mutas on the way he morphed 7-8 evos and rushed mutas to beasty base and killed 1st turret and 20scvs and won
when i saw this i couldnt contain myself
he made it just 2 seconds before hellions reached ramp thats what you call crisis managment wow

yea wtf... they say he got disqual cuz his comp crashed...thats so fucking retarded. He outplayed hack in first game thats rly too bad
His internet was out and it was completely out of TL and Diamga's hands.
There was no way that they'd wait for an extra hour for him, especially since Hack was playing in brutal hours in Korea. I'm disappointed too, but rules are rules. Without rules, the tournaments have no integrity and anyone can walk over them.

my understanding is that they waited like 90 seconds before disqual him...or was is not live? if it wasnt live them it would make sense

they waited an hr+ for him.
I did really enjoy his stream + the translation in the chat. it shows how dedicated his fans are
I played against him earlier today in GIGABYTE Cup - losing has never felt better I'm a bit sad because i was as nervous as a teenage girl at the sight of Justin Timberlake and did not manage to put in a good performance.
Anyway, as i told him in pre-game chat - i'm a big fan

Haha that's awesome. I think I'd do the same thing. ^_^

As strelok said there are 3 distinct zergs he hates to play against, those who created their own styles: Nerchio - Roach/Infestor Stephano - Ling/ with lots lots of mutas and Dimaga - ling/infestor into Ultras.
i dunno, for me he has something only the best athletes in any competition have. the so called "killer instinct" or "star sense". i often watch his stream and in smaller online tournaments he regularly loses to something silly/stupid that he could have easily avoided/overcome. but on the big stage where it really counts he somehow can perform flawlessly, sometimes almost perfectly against the strongest opponents. he is one of the very few foreigners to date who can compete with any korean you throw at him.
thats why i love watching his games. dimaga fighting!

Yup, he is one of few starcraft2 players who actually underperfoms daily and rise in large events, its because like those top athletes they prepare to the event not only to counter enemy's strategy but a specially they prepare psychologically to be in perfect mental state, so they play as good as in their perfect conditions (at home) or sometimes even better.
well i dont have any evidence of him preparing specially in mental way, but from his calm composure we can assume he certainly posses good stress endurance
I'm sad that Dima lost, I didn't catch the whole series but it seems to have been very good.
Dimaga alone is the reason I keep coming back to Zerg, haha. Just such inspiring play! ^^ If either him or Socke didn't exist I would stop flip-flopping my race.
wow! Dimaga 2-0 JYP in groups and then while practicing afterwards with JYP ready for Hasu in the quarter finals Owning him up again and again... Protoss bright hope in GSL not a patch on DIma =D =D

because terran tier 2 and tier 3 complete waste of money?dimagas only problem is that he atacked 200 vs 200 just 5 seconds before his 3-3 finished and select doubled his income
Sign me up!!! Grats on the win dimaga...you are becoming one of my favorite players next to Destiny and Spanishiwa. Love you playstyle and the muta micro. Again grats on the win.
I ran in to DIMAGA at the Vegas airport. We happened to be on the same flight. I got to talk to him about all sorts of SC topics for about 30 minutes. Dimaga is so funny and nice!
I just found this showmatch series in my YT channel and was surprised by the quality of the games (for the state of the metagame 2010) and by my own cast :D
I bet you enjoy as I just did! Have fun. (Playtime 86 Minutes)
I would prefer it if Dimaga didn't stream his TSL Qualifier matches, even though its nice for the viewers, its just insanely risky, unless there is a good amount of stream delay it gives people the opportunity to cheat so easily with no trace of evidence in the slightest. Dimaga fans like to watch dimagas stream obviously, but i think they prefer Dimaga getting far into events like this

If you wanted to cheat you could just do like spades (and probably a lot of others) and download a maphack as there's no evidence there either unless you do like spades and make it obvious by targetting things inside the fog of war.
He got 2-0ed by my former teammate and I can ensure you he wasn't stream cheating.. Dimaga lost legit.

I really didnt wanna suggest otherwise at all, I didnt even watch the game, its not about those games, its about giving the possibility to stream cheat in general.
If you install maphack you are really going out of your way to cheat... the inhibition threshhold (if thats the correct term) to do this is way higher than just clicking on a browser and looking at your 2nd monitor. And you dont know for sure if people wont be able to detect 3rd party programs like maphack ever, either way it feels riskier and theres no doubt whatsoever that stream cheating is simply more tempting because its much easier to do.
to make an analogy, breaking the lock of a bike is actually really easy to do with any sort of equipment, but if you lock your bike its still way more likely not to get stolen than if you just leave it some place unlocked.
Long Time Dimaga Fan (since Beta), but never went to Fanclub here^^. So please sign me up. Best Stream out there to learn from cuz no distraction from music and he aways commentates what he thinks, which is very nice. GL & HF Dimaga!
