The fact that there was even a poll ''love or hate idra'' is proof, the fact that the admins had to put a warning on this thread is proof.
On a side note, when i said that i had tournament games in mind(like the idra vs mc match) i'd say that at the very least a good 40k people were thrilled that idra got knocked out.
Idra stream is an endless source of information, even for the ''team hate idra'', its always helpfull to see a strong zerg player. (again, not saying that there are 15k haters on his stream)
You cant use that fact that he has a large number of haters as proof. Because every player out there has haters, its just that most players do not receive as much attention as idra. What Im saying is basically that its sort of like a ratio system. Where a player will have a certain number of haters that correlates with the number of fans they have (so for example 30 fans:2 haters). While its possible that idra has a higher hater:fan ration then other players, its also possible that it just appears that way because he has such a huge number of fans.

Hey guys. Sorry if I didn't make my point clear. And I am sorry. That's not me being facetious. I can be wrong.
I didn't mean IdrA's not popular. Of course he is. He's got a ton of fans. But most popular? I don't know about that.
Just throwing out another two cents.

Destiny? Because of his stream? He peaks at around 5-6k viewers on a good day and is on tape admitting that this is mostly due to his personality, not his gameplay. He still has 4k viewers when playing random custom games. IdrAs stream on the other hand peaks at 10k+ on good days without him even saying a word. When he commentated, he peaked at 15k+ The DHS11 MC vs IdrA game peaked at nearly 80k while the final struggled to reach the average 60k. He draws in viewers en masse for whatever he does. He is popular by definition. Idra game peaked 80k because it was against MC, everybody wanted to see that, especially after MLG, and second, the finals ''struggled'' the same 80k (not 60)on a WORK day, If it was on a weekend it would easily get +100k. Nonetheless, you kind missed DivinO point, he said that idra is notorious(and he is), but hes not popular at all, he have a huge fan base, but most people just think of him as a bad mannered jerk, most people tha watch his games expect him to lose, thats not being popular, its being notorious! One could even say infamous.
People do not watch IdrA on his stream to see him lose, seeing as how he wins probably 8 games for every loss (if not more), and he doesn't even rage on the ladder at all. Hes said it before, simply because he lost and didn't GG doesn't mean hes mad, it just means he didn't think it was a good game.

They both play a pretty low APM turtely style. I think thats what he meant at least.

Really sad about Idras DH group
I can understand losing to MC, but getting it in the RO16 is retarded and cost him potentially 2-6 thousand dollars if he had gotten a luckier bracket.
Would of liked to see him play Bomber (who strangely has a pretty average TvZ) or Huk (who has been practicing in korea) or July

Just throwing out another two cents. I just don't see how there could be a foreigner more popular than Idra, because it's clear nobody comes close. Whether its threads on TL, stream viewer count, Twitter, whatever.
Take the people that don't follow SC2 closely, for example. If there's one player they know, who would it be, most likely? I know it's slightly NA biased, but most of my gaming friends know Idra and they don't even follow the scene (only big occasions like MLG). Hell, even MLG knows this, which is why they play him up more than anyone.
Unrelated note, can't wait for IPL2 to start. No Koreans to fear there, would be awesome if Idra took it down. About time he wins some money, anyway

Well, he said in the last ITG episode he was a fan of the league, so let's hope that mean he's doing good :3

This. Idra is without a doubt the most popular foreigner in starcraft 2. The only person that comes close is Huk, but Idra has the biggest fan base, the most views and most followers in anything that he does.
People in this thread saying he "isn't popular" don't know what they are talking about. The numbers are there. Hell, look at the thread we are posting in.

Even tho you have kinda failed for the past few months Idra, I'm still willing to have your man-baby.

Just throwing out another two cents. That's fine; you didn't make some ridiculous statement like some others, you simply said that it you were not convinced that being followed by the most people means he is the most popular, which is a sensible comment.

Winning IPL and 4th place at MLG is "failing"

I think you bring up some great points. I agree with you that IdrA has a lot of fans. The numbers state he is a figure who is paid attention. Does that mean he is popular? My personal opinion is that no, not necessarily.
Having said that if popularity is attention the yes, IdrA is the figure that is paid the most attention as a progamer.

About time he wins some money, anyway Idra definitely get`s the most attention of any foreigner. Whether or not the people who pay attention to him like him or want him to succeed is another thing altogether. So while Idra gets all that attention, he may not be the most popular, as popularity involves not just being well known but being well liked. For me, I am an Idra fan most of the time. He used to be much less likable in the past though, imo. I dunno if he'd do something like say a top progamer has poor control these days. That sort of blatant disrespect of clearly superior players was the only thing I didn't like about him.
