its 77k now , still 10k behind idra vs mc though xD

You do realize that today is a work day, don't you?

You have to admit idra and mc are the most popular players in sc2 (probably because they both put on a great show).

Meh about half their games versus eachother has been ridiculous all ins, that does neither of them justice. IdrA has probably played his very least entertaining games against MC in his entire SC2 career. Not just about IdrA losing most of them either.

I might have to contest that. They're both very popular players, yes. In the US scene I'm fairly certain IdrA is uncontested in terms of notoriety (just look at the number of posts in this fanclub!) but in terms of popularity I don't know about that. I don't know if notoriety translates directly to popularity. People will pay attention to IdrA but that doesn't necessarily make him popular. In terms of popularity in the foreigner scene I'd cite characters like ThorZaIN, NaNiwa, Destiny, etc. (popular for various reasons).

In the Korean scene MC is popular. But I'd say he's also notorious. His popularity (and I could be wrong, I'm not the most informed person on this) is rivaled by people like MVP, NesTea, MMA, Bomber, and of course old legends like BoxeR and NaDa.

I think we're using popular in different definitions. I think you view being popular as being well liked, while I view it as being both liked and hated. By my definition I think there is no doubt idra is the most popular player in the SC2 scene, if he starts streaming he can pull in as many viewers as NASL, and thats without commentary. His fanclub is like 7x as large as anyone elses in terms of post count. And everytime hes involved in a tournament match, the viewers go up and the LR thread turns into a huge postfest (resulting in tons of bans").

However, I, similarly to you, am not very informed about the korean scene and how koreans view players. But i think Boss Toss is the most popular korean in the foreign scene.

Destiny? Because of his stream? He peaks at around 5-6k viewers on a good day and is on tape admitting that this is mostly due to his personality, not his gameplay. He still has 4k viewers when playing random custom games.

IdrAs stream on the other hand peaks at 10k+ on good days without him even saying a word. When he commentated, he peaked at 15k+

The DHS11 MC vs IdrA game peaked at nearly 80k while the final struggled to reach the average 60k.

He draws in viewers en masse for whatever he does. He is popular by definition.

The final peaked 80k+ at the final match. Overall ~65/70k so you're partly right.

Since this is an Idra fanclub, I would like to know what everyone's favourite Idra quotes are. People used to post a lot of them in this thread about 500 pages back, but since then the thread has become a bit clouded by a wide variety of discussions

No negative discussion please, this is a fanclub. I veto "gg" or any gg-related remarks

Two of my favourites are:

It doesn't matter how you feel about Idra. When he is extremely confident and focused, his play-style and game-analysis skills are Godly. The problem is that he easily tilts and throws away games because of his attitude. If he can overcome with his mental weaknesses, he can be arguably one of the best SC players in the world.

Thats because 90% of community is retarded and would rather watch Destiny flame people and be a racist and a douchebag than actually watch some player who is actually 10 times better than him play. Even Idra said so himself in lots of interviews.

Idra game peaked 80k because it was against MC, everybody wanted to see that, especially after MLG, and second, the finals ''struggled'' the same 80k (not 60)on a WORK day, If it was on a weekend it would easily get +100k.

Nonetheless, you kind missed DivinO point, he said that idra is notorious(and he is), but hes not popular at all, he have a huge fan base, but most people just think of him as a bad mannered jerk, most people tha watch his games expect him to lose, thats not being popular, its being notorious! One could even say infamous.

EDIT: I think there was a poll about wether you like or hate idra and haters lost clearly. Some random polls aren't real evidence of anything, but i'd dare to say idra is the most popular player from the US

EDIT2: you will need some proof for your claim that like 15k people watch Idras commentated games just to watch him loose ^^

I think in the western community IdrA either has:

A) The largest percentile of fans

or

B) A greater number has fans than haters

C) Both
__
A is the obvious selection, almost undoubtedly true, and B, well it can be argued that the man with the largest cheers at any event sports a high fan/hater ratio ^^

The fact that there was even a poll ''love or hate idra'' is proof, the fact that the admins had to put a warning on this thread is proof.

On a side note, when i said that i had tournament games in mind(like the idra vs mc match) i'd say that at the very least a good 40k people were thrilled that idra got knocked out.

Idra stream is an endless source of information, even for the ''team hate idra'', its always helpfull to see a strong zerg player. (again, not saying that there are 15k haters on his stream)

Well done.

In terms of popularity in the foreigner scene I'd cite characters like ThorZaIN, NaNiwa, Destiny, etc. (popular for various reasons).

Your opinion =/= opinion of most people

EDIT: I think there was a poll about wether you like or hate idra and haters lost clearly. Some random polls aren't real evidence of anything, but i'd dare to say idra is the most popular player from the US

EDIT2: you will need some proof for your claim that like 15k people watch Idras commentated games just to watch him loose ^^

So you came to Idra's fanclub to inform us that the fact the there are a lot of people who hate Idra proves that he is not popular and decided to post this even though you read the warning above the thread?

Well done.

I didn't start the ''popularity contest'', read the thread.
