To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

SM is simply too big to fail, good release or not.

Soshi delivers again. Don't think they have ever had a bad song. (Come at me!)

Love taeyeon and snsd but come on you gotta admit songs after hoot were allgarbage enough for them to win only little on music bank with their fandomd. Snsd was like faded away into shadow in korean media for the long time and sistar, apink, girls days, and etc were getting highlighted because
Of their concepts and good songs. On the other hands,,, i expected snsd to deliver because i noticed how sm upped its song quality like exo's growl or shinee but damn idont think this song is going to be a hit. Yeah they will win in music bank and such but people willforget it in 1 month just like i got a boy and bring the boys out

Yeah poor SNSD winning so little on Music Bank, 6 straight wins with The Boys, you are right that sucked. How in the world is Yoona gonna provide for her and Lee Seung Gi's family? The world is rotten. And please tell us more of your extremely in depth knowledge of Korean media.

You are right that SM gave Exo and Shinee a lot of great songs last year, and yeah they could have given SNSD a better title track but ya know shit happens and the song is still good, it just doesn't stand out at the moment and people were expecting more. I am waiting for the MV and performances to pass full judgement.

Well im korean an i visit naver an nate( two of the most popular sites) and i rarely see any snsd after hoot's release. Some snsd exposure was something like taeyeon instagram or snsd instagram with yoona on that prime
Minister drama but that drama failed anyways. Either ways, korean media was focused on another one of those big groupsfor a while like naeun, yura, and other big groups. Yeah i think i made mistake in saying they won little but honestly does music bank even do anything? Its like gving these pointless awards to a big name corporation and recycling it and them givin it to another big group... Koreans dont even mention these wins anymore in big media sites. Anyways girls day and all the girl groups what they want cfs, exposure, drama time, variety shows. Snsd didnt really get any since their songs were not that good

Am I right in saying that the korean language lacks "hard" sounds? I enjoy listening to kpop (over other music) when I don't understand much of the lyrics, i'm sure there's a good reason for it but I can't put my finger on it.

im not sure what you mean by hard sounds, but by my definition korea definitely has hard sounds. i dont think its possible to properly explain why korean sounds pleasant to people ears unless youre a linguist though. for example i find japanese very pleasant to listen to as well, but cant stand chinese or any other east/south east asian language

They do have hard sounds, but some of the sounds like ㅂ= b/p, ㄷ= d/t ㄱ= g/k are neither the soft, nor the hard, it's somewhere in the middle most of the time. ㅋ= K, ㅌ = T, ㅍ= P are often used for the hard sound equivalent.

For what I know, the Japanese and Korean language is in the same language group, distinct from Chinese and other Asian languages. I also find Japanese pleasant to listen to, but most J-pop songs don't really draw my attention.

The way I've heard it Japanese and Korean aren't really in any language group per se, but share the most similarities with each other. Not enough of a linguist to really know why they aren't classified as being in the same language group but there you are I guess

cause even though Japanese and Korean (kanji & hanja) are based heavily on Chinese , they belong to some linguistic branch that includes Turkish and Mongolian, different from the sino-tibetan branch.

at least that's what I remember from my geography course

This site is a wonderful teaser (??) site for MrMr, Sica and Sunny videos up. Kinda BTS style videos and concept pictures.

Also the 2NE1 album leaked, listening through it now. It's not bad, but nothing really jumped out yet. Come Back Home is the promo track I think? It's pretty decent.

Kings back with new song for their Repackage. Reminds me abit of old SJ which is awesome. Also, back-up dancers more sexy choreography than most girl groups these days.

2NE1 wins the battle of album tracks... To be determined for MV's and stage performances...
By the way, is it smarter from a marketing point of view to release a MV along with the release of the album, to hold on to the release of the MV while the album has been released or to release a MV prior to the release of the album tracks...? Thoughts...?

The korean language has floathing vocals which makes the singing very pleasant.

No it's not. Korean is a very unique language, the way they use particles is not used by any other country (you might find small similarities in Mongolian).

Didn't you hear? She got recruited by that new Canadian company, 2LEET Media, said she's going to make a comeback in some basements in May.

Korean and Japanese are distinct languages, they're comparable like Greek and German (that are under the Indo-European language group). Though the inclusion of Japanese and Korean under the Altaic language group is disputed, it's still generally accepted.

One would think you'd want to release it shortly before the album was released or at the same time to drum up attention. Seems like releasing it late is just a wasted effort. MVs are made at a loss, so it's pretty much just marketing.

I think it's retarded to not release the MV first. They are for sure losing views doing it this way. Now people have already listened to the track and some have no doubt no interest in the MV any longer since they don't like the song. If they release the MV first then everyone will watch it to hear the song.
