To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
No reposting of old material unless justified
Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

Until a point where the bickering just got so bad that everyone decided that it wasn't worth the effort to try and maintain a community. Also a lot of people got banned for stupid petty shit and everyone left very bitter about the whole thing.
Was part of it Sone vs Anti? Sure, that was the cause of a few of the flare ups. Also compounded by the fact that a lot of the Sone regulars hung out in a chat room and then bitched about things behind the scenes. But it's not really that SNSD fans got chased out or whatever, they were really just the group that had the most identity in this thread (I mean lets be honest aside from the occasional ABSOLUTE FIRST BEST ALBUM EVER, no other group had as rabid of a following here), and when everything went down most of those members left alongside everyone else.
And now everyone is loathe to bring up SNSD on either side because of the crap it's caused in the past. Hell, barely any controversial topics are brought up. Or any topics. This place is fucking dead is what I'm saying.

The pace of the thread slowed around mid 2012 (from a peak period in like 2011), while the pace of new kpop groups coming out continued to increase. Now we have tons of groups, with random names, and no one can keep up...not that we want to. Most of us are more comfortable with our existing group biases and only seem to come around when there's news about them, usually every 6-12 months.
Speak for yourself.
Most new groups have terrible debut years. Just horrible songs. A year or so later they sometimes come around with some good new tracks that get people actually interested. Until then there's not much to do but ignore them, which is usually what happens. Nugu track gets posted here, handful of comments, buried. Good song comes out / comes later, lots of buzz.
AOA is a fine example. Remember Elvis? Pretty much everyone wanted to punch a wall listening to Jimin. Now they've hit it big with two songs in a row - Confused & Miniskirt. Dal Shabet? Supa Dupa Diva was bad and Pink Rocket was fucking terrible. Mr. Bang Bang & Be Ambitious were pretty good and I think B.B.B is their most popular to date.
On the other hand, groups like Kiss & Cry debuted strong and was talked about here (and elsewhere) plenty.
In any event, I don't think the rate has actually increased. There have been loads of nugus for at least several years, most just fail and are quietly disbanded. HAM? JQT? EvoL? Joo?

Well I'm glad that I'm not alone lol, the atmosphere around that made it feel like I was some heretic for liking IGAB but can't say I'm surprised since this is the "Stop liking what I don't like" age of the internet. I never really came to this thread before, didn't know SNSD was such a touchy subject. For the longest time it felt like it was SNSD and then there was everyone else, considering how many new groups come out these days (who keeps up with this?) makes sense there's a lot of "hate" for what's perceived as most popular. Doesn't seem too different from when I got into kpop like in 2001 where it was BoA and then everyone else lol though I liked Hyori quite a bit as well, while BoA is still cool in my book I have to admit I took a break from it and SNSD got my attention again a few years back, why wouldn't they? They are all mostly hot and make pretty good music and videos. Right now is pretty fun though, lots of different groups to choose from and while some are pretty terrible or make it hard for me to like them there's way more than the one behemoth.
I'm pretty sure most people enjoyed the drama in this thread and didnt leave because of it lol. I think most people just moved on. I remember when I first got into Kpop wondering if that day would ever come.

When you first discover kpop its all new and exciting but eventually you realize its all the same shit. Throw 5-7 good looking people into a group, give em matching outfits, some cute choreography and a catchy song and repeat. I'm over how cute the girls are, in fact a lot of em I look at now and just think meh. Then there is others though I kinda think are hot now lol like I remember being the biggest Jessica hater now I find her hot. Im honestly jelous of the new people that come around here, seeing there curiosity and excitement brings back memories of how I felt when I first got into it. Staying up all night to see live music shows, dl every new song, collecting hd vods of performances, posting .gifs, catching all my favorite idols on variety shows, i even remember one day wonder girls came to Mississauga, and I found out to late so I couldnt get tickets, but I drove out like 5-6 hours before the event to stand outside and see them arrive. It was a major part of my life probably for the better part of 2 years but now days its really just crayon pop keeping me around.

TIL, everyone who doesn't like an SNSD song is automatically an Anti.
Oh look its this post again.
tbf anyone who doesn't like a snsd song is labeled 'just a hater'. and the thing is, it doesn't happen with any other group, just snsd. I think it happens a bit with crayon pop but not to the same extent.
no hate, but just look back at your own posts 2 years back. fairly certain you've posited this before.

I would never deny such a thing.
Listened to the CN Blue album today, really surprised by how much more mature all the songs feel. I guess this is what happens when Yonghwa composes all the songs, very impressive.
My personal favorite
Great album overall.

Love taeyeon and snsd but come on you gotta admit songs after hoot were allgarbage enough for them to win only little on music bank with their fandomd. Snsd was like faded away into shadow in korean media for the long time and sistar, apink, girls days, and etc were getting highlighted because Of their concepts and good songs. On the other hands,,, i expected snsd to deliver because i noticed how sm upped its song quality like exo's growl or shinee but damn idont think this song is going to be a hit. Yeah they will win in music bank and such but people willforget it in 1 month just like i got a boy and bring the boys out

Yeah poor SNSD winning so little on Music Bank, 6 straight wins with The Boys, you are right that sucked. How in the world is Yoona gonna provide for her and Lee Seung Gi's family? The world is rotten. And please tell us more of your extremely in depth knowledge of Korean media.
You are right that SM gave Exo and Shinee a lot of great songs last year, and yeah they could have given SNSD a better title track but ya know shit happens and the song is still good, it just doesn't stand out at the moment and people were expecting more. I am waiting for the MV and performances to pass full judgement.
