maybe preference for a genre? I loved it since she did L'amant / 4AM and the others. Tho her new album does not only include jazzy element, but also a really vintage feel (1930's as what is shown on the description). It's not as good as her past albums but still good for me. And it sounds diff from Good Day (the instruments).
I would give it an 8/10 if her past albums were 9's and 9.5's

wot if you're talking about a synth then it's a pretty ubiquitous instrument and if you're pointing out that the singles are all thematically similar it's because the same person produced all three.
compared to her prior two singles, I think this is the most mature & musically complex track. To that end, it's a lot more disjointed and less cohesive, making it far less catchy. I can see why some people may not like it.
i fux wit it tho, will get plenty of listens on my playlist.
I'm assuming due to how soon it was since release that it's real-time charts, which mean nothing as any semi-popular artist is going to have people dl the album as soon as it's released.

I don't think IU is only "semi-popular". News concerning IU's new album have consistently been at the top of the most viewed MelOn news for the past week ; the comeback was really anticipated. And it's not only the title track, but the whole album that made it to the top 10 of melOn and other musci sites. And last but not least, she's not going against "weak" K-pop artists (like 2NE1 recently LOL), but againt Busker Busker. Kicking Busker Busker's album out of the top 10 the way she just did is no small feat. I am really impressed by IU's position on the charts, and it seems like people do enjoy her new album. Although it's not really the kind of music I enjoy, even I might end up adding one or two songs of her new album to my legendary K-pop playlist.

Never said she was only semi-popular. I said any semi popular artist would all kill real time, and since iu is obviously more than semi popular the all kill doesn't really mean anything with respect to how successful of a release it is. And as I said its real time. The album just came out, people are rushing to dl it. If she beats busker busker over the next week/month or has lasting power then yeah, it's something special.
IU's new album is perfect. I love the "The Red Shoes" MV as well, so pretty! I don't understand why some people say the songs are the same as every of IU's songs ever, her style totally changed and I think she became a lot more mature as well. Can't stop listening to the new album, hope all of you enjoy it as much as I do!

the way i see it is this: they had like 3 good songs while they were 6, which leaves the other 15 to be mediocre at best. then, the managment did a whole bunch of stupid shit and the negative effects were projected onto the new members (at least by some people). then, the managment did even more stupid shit and drama, all new members left and now you might have the same mediocre kpop group with at least 2 members that noone cares about and the same old shitty managment
you sound like you got into kpop in 2011 or smth I'm just going to reiterate something about Absolute First whooshing over your head, because if you didn't enjoy that album, you probably don't like a lot of tracks in this genre overall.
A lot of people were already pretty meh about hwayoung joining back in 2010, and the bad management pr didn't happen until late 2011/early 2012 when they were dying from performing too much.
2009-early 2010 was the best era of T-ara, and fans keep expecting another Braking Hart/Absolute First to pop out. With the group back to the original 6 and barring the integration of Dani, hopefully it might happen again. But then again, probably not.
really, 2008-2010 were the best years of kpop r i p
soooo ... you just wrote half a page to say i'm probably right ? thanks

After listening to the Fiestar and JeA songs with Eric Benet, I can't help but feel that the songs would be much better with other people singing them instead. As people have said, she doesn't have the right voice for the songs, so overall the whole thing isn't anywhere near as good as it could have been IMO.
