To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

I'm just happy Sistar is doing good. Starship Ent. HWAITING!

Also, this is good. Sunny so adorable, her voice is better than I originally thought.

DSP spends all their resources promoting KARA, similair to how CCM used all their resources to promote T-ara, leaving Rainbow and Davichi respectivly with almost nothing.

Part of the reason why Davichi left CCM(that and the t-ara scandal) I am sure. Davichi on the other hand is (maybe, hopefully) strong enough to stand on its own, Rainbow? No way in hell.

Disagree, CCM was able to put KMK on a bunch of features and a rather large part in a drama; likewise, Haeri was featured on a bunch of singles and in the lineup of several talent shows. Davichi is far from being a flop; the amount of promotion they received during 8282 and Don't Say Goodbye was sizable.
CCM has a pretty consistent record with their artists. The only 'flop' I can think of is Yangpa but she enjoyed a middling amount of popularity during her heyday before hiatus. + Show Spoiler +
I don't count Co-Ed/5dolls/Speed, Supernova, etc because they technically aren't part of CCM. I feel like that's the worst branch of Mnet Media, FNC has a bunch of fantastic artists as well.

obviously, as one of the biggest groups in Korea, T-ara gets more exposure in their individual activities, but it's not like the company completely ignores the rest of their artists.

Also, contrary to people's beliefs, CCM is only a subsidiary of Mnet Media. CCM is not directly run by KKS; obviously he oversees the all of their activities.
That company gets a lot of undeserved flak - I'm not implying that they don't deserve some shit for their crazy scheduling and such, but they've seriously done a shitload to get their artists to where they are today.
imo, falling short of internal conflicts between the artist and the company, Davichi most likely left because of their loyalty to managers and a more (relatively) relaxing schedule.

As for debuts, I feel most of the companies are spending most of their time debuting new groups to see which of them get popular. It's like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing if it sticks or not.
Like it or not, a company is supposed to milk their cash cow, not infinitely spend money trying to promote lesser groups that might or might not have a chance of making it in an already saturated market.

You can only find fault in the companies' business model, but you definitely cannot blame them for not putting the effort into promotions.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC Rainbow was DSP's big project that they spent almost a million dollars on pre-debut. If they don't find a return on their investment, it's going to be a no-brainer that they're going to focus more on Kara, who have been doing fantastic in both the Japanese market and domestic market.

I like the song, but they're too emotionless playing it to enjoy the video. :c

For anyone that cares the Commander is making his comeback towards the end of the month.
Will be releasing a track on the 23rd.

LOL don't follow too many groups, so are there any big kpop ACTUAL bands, out of curiosity? That one snsd member (seohyun?) who eventually just gave up pretending to play guitar at the MBC Music Wave thing this year or whatever.

CN Blue is a pretty obvious answer to that question...a

Edit: Here's their Soundplex, where they play live and all that jazz.

After watching the jewelry perf on music bank I have revised my opinion on look at me, it's a nice song until it gets to the chorus then it becomes bad. Also wtf was Kwill wearing on his comeback stage, that was one ugly jacket, meh doesn't matter both his songs are awesome.

On AoA they will have to do what Trax, FTisland and CNblue did at some point to get people off their backs about instruments and shit, go to a live show that actually lets you play and play a song that is not yours. That could help a lot too since their songs are bad.

OH right haha

Well, not bad. Are there any girl groups that actually play instruments?
