2NE1 T-ara Secret Afterschool 4minute f(x) just to illustrate the incompetance, back then Rainbow was one of the bigger debuts, DSP was especially a major player with girl groups and its really sad to see woori cry. Rainbow should be at their peak now. I cant even say its because DSP favored Kara since I dont even understand how that group is sucessful either. Their songs aren't better than Rainbows and only Nicole and Hara have any kind of distinctive personality worth writing about. | ||

Because they entered during an era with a lot less competition and Mister was huge. Remember DSP was doing real shitty when KARA debuted and Kara was looking like a flop, no one even knew who they were, until they did the butt dance. It was all luck, right song and right choreography at the right time. Now it's much harder to pull that off, a lot more competition and a LOT more established groups. DSP did it once but they've been unable to do it again, they haven't had anyone remotely popular since KARA/SS501. They just don't know how to manage groups well, period. edit- just look at a list of active groups- not just groups debuting that year, active female idol groups, in 2007, from wikipedia, including small groups that never took off: CSJH The Grace LPG Perfume Red Sox i-13 BEG Seeya Baby Vox re.v Wonder Girls SNSD Sunny Hill now take all the groups that are/were relevant at all The Grace BEG Seeya WG SNSD Sunny Hill 6 groups. In 2012 6 female groups debut every month and a half or so. If you want to be generous and include groups debuting in 2008, when KARA became relevant, you get the previous list+ Davichi, that's it. Now compare that to 2009, the year Rainbow came out. You have all the groups from the 2nd list, plus Davichi, and AS 4minute T-ara 2ne1 f(x) Secret Jewelry S double the playing field KARA had to contend with as rookies. And that's not even considering that Rainbow are still trying to break into the industry now, in 2012, when you also have to deal with groups like GsD, A Pink, Dal Shabet, Miss A, Sistar, etc etc and you can see why anyone would have trouble breaking out today. | ||

If Rainbow is failing it's because they aren't attracting enough of the kind of delusional fans that prop up so many sub standard groups. That's the key to being a successful idol group rather than a vocal one. | ||

Part of the reason why Davichi left CCM(that and the t-ara scandal) I am sure. Davichi on the other hand is (maybe, hopefully) strong enough to stand on its own, Rainbow?No way in hell. | ||

also sookiebunnie had this to say about rainbow being poor (hes the owner of visualglow and knows pretty much everything about rainbow) Rainbow only gets 200000KRW for every university performance. That is their group fee. That's basically almost $200.00USD for them. It's not much for a group to live off of. Especially after splitting it up. Of course that doesn't include whatever they get from release sales, television appearances and other concert related events. I'm not sure what they earn on those. I'm sure they've made more through UMJ since they actually promote them better from marketing and merchandise standpoint. Sadly though UMJ had to go and make PURETTY which messed up the whole exchange program between DSP and UMJ. Rainbow's locked out in both countries at the moment. and these university performances are pretty much all they've been doing the past couple months. feel so bad for them, they deserve so much more.  way better than kara. | ||
