To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |
by western pop standards, secret's dance was perfectly normal by korean standards, it was over the top, just like rania's dr feel good, or like hyuna's change, etc etc.
depends on what your viewpoint is. as a foreigner that enjoys korean music, you're stuck between these two views and it's the only reason why this discussion exists. you sound like the netizens that akp quotes for their news articles.

Moving along....
I'm happy that SNSD has made 3 rather quality (4 if you count Twinkle) videos, and 9 (10 if you count Oh!'s remake) decent to great songs. And apparently more to come.
Contentedness.

I change my mind, I agree w/ Tuelite on this one. I know when I'm wrong.
seriously, only hipsters wear lenseless frames, that's why i label them hipster glasses. Through a discussion an opinion was changed. Also you present your opinion in a way that is counter-intuitive to what voluntarily being apart of an online community entails. You don't have to read this, you don't have to change your opinion or even have one, but some people do have one and some people will change theirs.
Edit: Don't want to get banned for a meta only post so have some SNSD

in all honesty, what Kuja said most accurately reflects my beliefs a reason some people get into Kpop is because it's unlike the rest of the pop out there. i'm sure there are those who follow kpop looking for sexual content but that's not what the majority follows it for. as Kuja said if people wanted to see such vulgarity there's porn. Kuja you preach it buddy

also lebreezy is the farthest thing from a hipster and he's worn lensless frames since forever. they're a fashion accessory used to characterize/mask facial features.

Haha dude I'm just clicking next page constantly just skimming through if even that. Can this be over please?
Also Oh! was boring. Same concept same everything except for language. Put some effort in plx.

The secret choreo isn't that bad. It's just not appealing whatsoever.

I don't think this is the first time it's been brought up. We had a previous discussion about the sexualization of idols, how most of us would never see IU or taeyeon or apink or whatever sexually. In fact I think tuelite sparked that debate as well when he brought up the photoshopped fakes (or it might have been bubbling, I honestly can't remember).
Sex sells. Fact. To claim otherwise is lying to yourself. However not all of us are here to watch hot girls in revealing outfits do thrusts and caress their chests. Groups often choose one audience or the other, few can ever transcend the entire cute vs sexy boundaries. That's why I think it's important that poison primarily featured hyosung, while calling u concentrated much more on jieun. Those that enjoy the sexy thing have that and those that don't don't have to watch it. I mean hell its not like they're actually fingering themselves on stage or anything completely outlandish like that.

Hmm, i think discussion is pretty pertinent. American pop went through a similar phase.

One of these days we'll talk about music rather than how slutty instantly-forgettable Group A or B or C went in their video, and move past GIFs of generic-looking Girl A's butt and the subsequent comments telling us they are grateful or whatever their woefully uninteresting opinion is
hahahahahaha who am I kidding

That IS talk about Korean pop music. If you want to think of it a vacuum, find another site.

It's honestly comical that some people that frequent this thread actually try to argue as if some of these sexually charged moments that pop up frequently throughout the general Korean pop scene are an aberration. You have to be willfully ignorant, have an incredibly selective memory, or suffer a catastrophic cognitive dissonance if you can't see that this kind of exploitation has always underlined this industry that has exploited this primal and (hilariously overt) desire that the fan base has expressed for as long as I can remember (over a decade).
Don't even try to pretend as if the image worshipping that alone sustains and perpetuates this godforsaken hellhole of a thread to such levels is not materialistic and sexualized at all times. This by itself isn't really a great problem to me, whatever, every community needs an opium (it's just depressing that a bunch of international people have clatched onto one of the more banal, superficial, troublesome, degenerative, and embarrassing part of modern Korean culture and have elevated it into an idol - it's pretty much cultish), but if you try to take this place it onto the highest of pedestals, then I don't have much to say but to comment that you need to take a deep step back and think about it again.
This thread is so fucking creepy and inane.

Choreo is fine, just the gratuitous camera work that pushes it.

Did this much shit happen when Hyuna when she danced "Change" ? Does anyone remember how much hip thrusting was in that? haha

Believe it or not, some people actually used to post good Korean music instead of just spamming the thread with the same image-based "artists" every once in a while. Very rarely, but still, it used to happen. I still check this thread once in a while for similar things but it never happens anymore. Should just change this thread into "Korean Pop Discussion".
Whatever, this thread is just beyond the edge. There's no reason for me to ever visit it again.

Whatever, this thread is just beyond the edge. There's no reason for me to ever visit it again. Maybe there should be a korean idol thread and korean music thread?
