To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |
Fuck, dude. I love you.
I would honestly marry this woman, though. All of my heart.

That feeling when you misidentify an idol on KMD.
Its funny reading people argue about the choreo when the only opinion that matters is your own. Unless your're weak and just bandwagon.

If Sunhwa wants to slap her clit in a music video, why not? She's an adult and this is 2012. What the fuck? Do you not get this at all? There is a certain quality to Kpop that makes it so unique when compared to other forms of pop. Why the fuck do you think we make and fawn over gifs about moves that would otherwise be commonplace? Why when we see undergarments or flailing thighs are we all giddy about it? If I wanted to watch porn I'd fucking watch porn dammit, If I wanted to see moves a stripper would do I'd go to a strip club.
Just because things are generally more conservative in Kpop doesn't make a debate about whether certain choreography is ok in certain contexts "prudish".
"They are, for the most part, pretty faces dancing and singing in scanty clothes for the pleasure of men."
Also I find your general view of these idols to be degrading and childish. If this is what you want go back to american pop or watch some Japanese stripper cams and play some fucking pop in the back-round. You really just don't get it.

I would like to second what kuja said above. And probably third also.

Co-signing Kuja

Agreed with those that are saying Poison choreo is a bit too risque. The leg split and rubbin the crotchal area is too much. That said I do like the song and choreo outside of those parts. That doesn't make all of the people that don't like the extreme 'sexiness' prudes or whatever. Part of the appeal of Kpop to a lot of people is that the stars are not slutty trashbags like most Western pop.

I don't care what this one has said in the past or what he will say in the future. This Kuja is now #1.
Was sleeping soundly when that Oh! thing hit, loved the outfits over the original one by a long shot and also the hairstyles so good. Made some of them so extremely cute. KR lyrics sounded way better though.

My plans to go smoking and drinking fell through, I'm the original. Is there really that much a disparity? I mean I don't read any of coltons posts but are they that bad?
|
^the Kuja I know is more chill and less long-winded. That and he usually comes prepared with pictures. You also usually (at least that I notice) don't post that many negative/harsh/argumentative opinions.
I can get behind a "the reason most of us like kpop is the not-quite-over-the-top-sexiness" statement, but I do think that his reaction to Vorgrim's statement was a bit overblown and don't think that Vorgrim was suggesting that kpop idols should go "all the way sexy".
And I also think that Vorgrim's sentence about (female) kpop groups essentially being faces or legz or whatever. Obviously not to a "please sexual desires" extent but he's basically bluntly stating what many of us have said before- kpop is at least 50% visuals. Many others have stated that if it was just audio without visuals they wouldn't be interested. Saying that kpop groups are "there" to be eye candy, while perhaps harshly stated, isn't as extreme of a position here as you seem to be making it.
|
Also agreed with Kuja and friends, this is what I thought when I first saw the clip, not just bandwagoning. I didn't save the crotch rub gif, but reading all these comments is making me feel bad for downloading the tamer ones O_O. I like kpop because it's not trashy this is taking it a bit far.
|
Some of what Vogrim said is true to an extent though. For a lot of people they are just pretty faces and nothing more. Obviously this isn't the case in a community like this that appreciates the genre more than most, but let's be honest. If it wasn't for the pretty girls and revealing outfits kpop probably wouldn't be nearly as popular as it is. Sex sells in every country, not just the US. Getting sexier wouldn't hurt the genre financially at all.
|
K, so I promised a short hair kpop idol spam for my 5000th post. List up who should be on this almighty list. I'll slowly aggregate what I find from now until my 5000th post. so far this is what I got. + Show Spoiler +hyorin (sistar) ga-in son (beg) nicole (kara) hyosung (secret) lime/lemon (hello venus) linzy (fiestar) sooyoung and sunny (snsd) yubin (wonder girls) eun jung (t-ara) PM me any that I'm missing.
|
I'm a bit surprised that this came with the Secret vid and not with earlier ones like Dr. Feel Good, although I suppose our population has grown a bit.
Maybe it's also because Rania was a smaller group and Secret also occasionally does cute concepts? Wonder how people would react if a "sexy only" group like T-ara had choreo like this. I mean, Hyomin basically rubbed her crotch while lying down for IGCBOY choreo and no one complained then.
|
Personally, I prefer classy and/or cute over overtly sexy, but there's nothing wrong with some sexiness now and then. I enjoy Poison, it makes my heart (and certain other parts) go pitter-pat, but I wouldn't be happy if that was what all KPop MVs turned into in the future. One in a while is good, though.
Edit:
@Wei2, you're missing short-hair Tiffany (imporant yo) and Crayon Pop's ChoA.

Generally, the more overtly slutty things are, the less I like them. Especially in KPop.

KMD is skewed a bit differently than other communities but I know of plenty that basically only care about the looks and nothing else.
Plus a financial argument in a foreign community thread is basically useless because almost none of us can say how people in Korea/Japan (the people actually buying a vast vast majority of shit) feel.
|
And boy bands should be kept to the same standards! Taking their shirts off is disgusting and degrading to them and kpop. Some of the air humping and thigh gyrating is just too much! Think about the children!
/s
Seriously this much crying over nothing needs to move over to AKP and never come back. Some of you are grown ass men, act like it.
