To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |
I think it's sort of a chicken or the egg dillemma.
If someone weren't korean but looked exactly the same, appearance-wise it wouldn't mean anything...or would it? Chinese people and Korean people don't look the same, hard to say--so would it even be something you could mention? And then you also have cultural differences and whatnot as well. So it might just have been a miscommunication in the first place.
Personally I figure since it's not like I will have a chance anyway or likely will ever get an opportunity even to go to a concert of theirs unless I become a 30-year-old billionaire with too much time on his hands, I don't particularly care about nationality. Obviously some girls will come across as more attractive and seem to have better personalities/tastes/opinions/singing ability or what have you. But generally I don't particularly care about nationality.
That being said, there isn't a single Chinese idol/singer who interests me and Utada Hikaru/Younha (doesn't really count though lolol)/Yanagi Nagi are the only Japanese singer whom I like >.<

Also, anyone know what the deal is with the paper/rock/scissors at the end of their saturday night performances?

I want to watch all these Crayon Pop videos T.T
Alas my power is out and I have to do all my KMD on my phone. I can't even get to twitter to check if they responded to me.
And I had no idols on August 7 with me, but Tiffany was on the 1st, so close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades imo.

When engaging in a discussion comparing two of them on levels of attractiveness, it remains irrelevant. Disagree. Level of attractiveness both in real life and in idols is clearly biased based on other factors such as personality, group, talent, and nationality. Wait, so if Taeyeon or IU or -insert your favorite kpop idol- weren't Korean, you'd find them less attractive, even though their physical appearance wouldn't change? Or are you saying that you'd prefer Korean physical characteristics over that of other Asians. Because one of them is quite racist and the other isn't. Your original comment is poorly worded, either way. My preference takes into account nationality. I prefer Koreans. I enjoy speaking Korean, and obviously it's a lot more beneficial for our kids to grow up with two korean speakers (I know so many half koreans who can't speak korean at all). I'm fairly positive both sides' parents would prefer they get a korean son/daughter-in-law. It would make choice of where to live easier since I want to raise my kids in either the States, Canada, or Korea. I like korean food, both eating and cooking it. We would have less misunderstandings due to cultural differences. There are so many reasons. If Taeyeon were not korean, she would become less of my ideal girl, thus I would be less attracted to her. Probably still my #1 though since no one really compares. A younger LMJ might come close. I don't understand how that's so unreasonable. I think all of those with their cultural roots still intact (still speak their native language, participate in cultural customs) would prefer to find a partner who share the same cultural roots when actually settling down.
Unless you are heavily influenced by your family, I think finding someone within your own nationality/culture is mostly to please your own parents. Though it is certainly easier to get along with someone within your own culture as you know the customs and everything, but for me, I don't pay attention to many cultural customs and often get into awkward situations around family and others >.>' So doesn't matter what happens! Awkward all around!
One of my relatives, has two daughters and a son, both daughters ended up marrying European-descents and the son is always hanging around non Asians. They were devastated at first, but it ended up pretty well.
@Xeno: go find yourself an adorkable shorty.

Holy legz Batman.
And I agree with Haxx. Ellin is gewd, but Soyul is NANOMETERS from taking my personal #1 Crayon spot.

Why not? K-Pop rarely comes to Europe, but I've been to two K-Pop concerts, one of them featuring SNSD (I assume you're talking about one of their concerts here).

Ah, I dunno, I just think I personally won't be able to make the effort to attend a concert, since I assume the idols of whom I'm a fan won't perform at good times for me to go see them or perform at good locations.
In a sense, it just means that personally I guess I wouldn't prioritize them high enough to go to a live concert, but I will certainly enjoy their music and perhaps buy some merch in the future. So it just ties in with not being big enough of fanboy for certain factors/details to matter to me, I suppose? maybe in the future I will develop into a hugely biased fanboy and attend a concert and care a lot though haha~
