- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

Thought it was because my internet was lagging that it wouldn't load on TL. I reuploaded it to imgur if you want to save it from there. I right-clicked saved the picture from instragram and got an internet shortcut and apparently a folder to all her pictures or something, and in that folder was this picture.

Holy shit, that BoA MV.
I haven't listened to BoA since I was first getting into Japanese music in high school and I liked one or two of her Japanese songs. Saw you guys raving about it in here, and thought, "Well it's KMD, they have their own tastes, don't know if I'd really find it to be anything special," but decided to watch it out of curiosity.
That choreo is amazing :-o I was absolutely mesmerized. Going to have to check out the album now, and find out what the lyrics to that song actually mean. Hopefully it's amazing enough to match the MV, because that was just incredible -.-

The only way I know of is...
Go to Nicole's twitter, recent images and open the one taken recently from instagram. Right click and hit 'copy image url' then paste into browser (This is using Chrome.)
Amazing picture of Nicole. <3

Boa so good, living up to her expectations. You need to look beyond the moves, it's about how crisp it is.

Not really blown away by the sound of the new BoA album. It's not bad or anything, but I'm not too big on some of the songs. And I gotta agree the choreo(/mv) is really, really good.

Just to have some fun ^^
Hmmmmm I don't know whether any of you guys care, but I just had a thought: are there are a lot of "four chord songs" in kpop? Most of you probably know what they are, for example from this song: + Show Spoiler +www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pidokakU4I
Why do I bring this up? So I was listening to A Class (so good), and suddenly my OCD kicked in and the urge to figure out the chords to the intro of One to Ten hit me, because I thought it was the four chord pattern. The notes I obviously could instantly recognize, but because I don't really know music theory and/or work with chords/transcription and instead use abosolute pitch methods of figuring out chords which is a bad way, I'm usually pretty shit at figuring out chords.
But that's not relevant, anyway the intro is + Show Spoiler +F# F C# F# F C# F# F x2
G# F# F G# F# F G# F#
G# F# F G# F# F G# F
F# F E# F# F E# F# F x2
F# F B F# F B F# F
F# F B F# F B F# C#
And the chords are F# C# d# B (F# Major, C# Major, d# minor, B Major), or the four groupings in the spoiler. I think.
In music terms, this is I V vi IV, aka the four chord pattern!! :D For some reason I thought it was randomly awesome~ But yeah, are there actually a lot of kpop songs based on those four chords?! Usually I don't pay attention, but a while ago, I realized that I'm actually a HUGE sucker for four chord songs in general, so I was just wondering. Are there any particularly good four chord kpop songs?

Gotta say now that Day by Day has been out for a while it's a really boring ass song.. Really really boring choreography

Usually I don't pay attention, but a while ago, I realized that I'm actually a HUGE sucker for four chord songs in general, so I was just wondering. Are there any particularly good four chord kpop songs? Honestly I think this is the first time I've seen music notes on this thread. And same patterns in chords are usually used in the same genre, no? Which is why people will often claim plagiarism while it's just common usage of chords.
|
Oh nvm then ;__;
But yeah, I was actually going to say something last time about that--a lot of pop songs borrow chords from older songs, since there isn't exactly a huge variation of short+simple chord progressions that sound good. So before you (nobody in particular, just "you" in general ^^) accuse a song of plagiarism, just know that the song you think is being plagiarized probably borrowed the same chords from another song at least for kpop.
I think it's mostly pop music generally that likes to use those four chords. Other genres tend to be somewhat more creative actually I think lol. But not by much if they are.
|
People also claim plagiarism from similar instrumentation like in Day by Day and Criminal, which like chord usage can be argued as style/inspiration. Sometimes there are cases where melodies or motifs are ripped off (not KPop but Men at Work with Down Under) and usually that can be a little clearer.
Edit: Also cycle of 5ths are really common in kpop (as with nearly every genre) But the chord progression of 2NE1's Lonely IMO is one of the most original I've heard in kpop.

I don't know about Lonely though, looked up the chords and most of the arrangements pin it as four chords (not I V vi IV though) ;P meh.
Also, really random right now my favorite song is probably Bad Girl Good Girl. F Major, A Major, d minor, Bb Major for that one....I don't know why I like it so much but whooo. I'm still loving the songs you guys rec'd wtf so good.
