Now i dont even know if snsd will be performing there but w/e free ticket to Korea sounds good.
I don't know if anyone remembers this contest. I just got back from LA where I was one of the 17 finalists and I thought I'd give a little recap of what it was like.+ Show Spoiler +
It was a really awesome event. It was held in a concert hall in downtown LA. Heads of KBS America and Korean Air and Korean Cultural Center LA were there as judges. There was a TV crew and everything. The contestants did interviews for the Korea Daily newspaper in Koreatown LA as well. I'd say there were about 150ish people in the auditorium and they were a really awesome audience. Very supportive of everyone trying to sing Korean songs. All the contestants were really nice as well cheering for everyone backstage. The organizers gave us a choice of Kpop cd's as gifts (I got Hoot!) and the head of KBS America gave us all a 4gb KBS America usb thumb drive lol. There was an MC hosting the show who gave all the contestants short little interviews before we performed. He asked me who my favorite member of SNSD was and I said Sunny. He asked why and I said because on a variety show a couple years ago she was catching chickens and I thought that was cool hahaha. Crowd got a laugh out of that one.
As far as the performances go, there was a lot of variety with some songs I had never heard before(to be fair I am pretty new to Kpop anyway). A 9 year old girl sang "If I leave" by Jo Soo Mi and was a huge hit with the crowd. She was the cutest thing ever lol. A 50+ yr old woman sang "Moo Jo Gun" and was also a huge hit with the crowd. These two won the crowd favorite awards. Two other girls did "Ma Boy" by Sistar19 with the waves and all. Few other did IU songs like "The Story Only I Didn't Know" and "I Need a Boy". One guy did a medley of Taeyang songs and he was a great dancer, and I thought for sure he was going to win. That was until the last girl went who sang "8282" by Davichi. She had an incredible voice and was just way better than everyone else. She won the trip to Korea and definitely deserved it. They even mentioned that if Music Bank has time when she goes, that she might be able to perform on the show. That would be pretty sweet.
For me, I made an acoustic arrangement of Into The New World by SNSD. It was pretty original because everyone else was singing along to the instrumental versions of their songs, but I just played the guitar and sang without anything else. I wasn't nervous to begin with but by the time I got halfway through the song I was practically shaking haha. I've never performed solo in front of so many people and cameras before so it was pretty intense. Everyone was super supportive though and a couple people came up to me afterwards saying they enjoyed my version of the song, including this one ridiculously cute Korean chick in a blue dress. That was probably the highlight of the whole event for me right there hahahaha. I probably made a complete fool of myself on stage, who knows, I barely remember performing lol. It was a lot of fun though.
So yeah that's about it. Awesome experience even though it was completely nerve wracking at times. I had never been to LA either so the whole trip was pretty cool for me. This was just the first annual contest, too. They said they will for sure be doing it again next year. If you guys love Kpop you should totally try out next year. I bet the prizes will be even better the longer they do it. Kpop fighting!
So I was going through some old pages for no reason and stumbled upon this post.
They are doing this again this year, I don't have the info on hand though. I just thought it was interesting in case anyone wanted to give it a try this year. I am trying to get my sister to do it if she has time because I am pretty certain she would win if she did it. She has a decent voice and has sung for many different things before, plus she has had S.E.S - I'm Your Girl memorized for like 12 years now. Free trip to Korea for me!

That's pretty lame. Had she just uploaded a pic without makeup, I think she would have gained a lot more admirers/fans, because she looks like she wouldn't look too bad without makeup. Seeing as a lot of people care about these things, maybe she could have been one who genuinely looks pretty good without makeup.
pretty cool to see that people on TL still do tags even though there arent any image sigs.
id offer criticism but if its a few years old i you probably wont care lol.
Haha, it's was worse iirc, corrected some things but the file is so messed up it's too hard to fix anything substaintial ^^ Best part is the lighting I feel like but it still doesn't come out well enough. So frustrating.
No sigs and avatars is what makes this forum clean and decent imo. Also a bit of a shame but I got over it :p

I like the lighting too :p.
Yeah, after a week or so I got used to it. Its very nice, except annoying not immediately seeing the name of the poster. Still nice to have but some people just have really obnoxious or ugly ones, so its better this way. Text really brings out a poster's character...
Also I support the no make up IU. I like the angry face still, cause its cute, but she's cute already..
I heard cell phones are good these days. If you exchange numbers and call each other, you eventually meet up, but naw this is KMD, we don't use our brains in here.
I think not handing out your phone number to random people on the internet would be called using your brain. Always use caution when giving out personal information over the internet.
