To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
No reposting of old material unless justified
Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.
akp only translates korean articles that are sent in as tips. thats the whole point of the website. if you think akp makes any original news articles (save for those interviews & reviews they do) you're incredibly shortsighted. I'm not too sure if this has changed in the last year or two but when I still had the motivation to browse the site that was their mo. + Show Spoiler +
every korean pop culture news site does this; sometimes akp is faster, sometimes other sites are faster. once a translation comes out they just copy paste it onto their own site, hence the reason why a lot of articles are almost the same on different sites.
Anyone with the ability to read Hangeul could read the news an hour to a day earlier than when the translation is posted.
Also, korean "netizens" have better insight into what's going on in the country than you ever will, especially when it comes to questions like "who are the popular girl groups in korea?" or "what is the general opinion of _______"

I genuinely liked Sistar's album, and in my opinion Twinkle is one of the best albums that has been released in the past year or so.

They are a group that debuted quite a while ago, that should be taken in consideration as well. Anyway, the point I was trying to make wasn't about Kara's popularity. But disagreeing that HSY alone was the cause of their succes.

Money's better in Japan so ofc they're going to spend more time there but anyone who thinks they're middle tier or whatever is wrong.

Screenshot wallpapers are the worst unless you screenshot on 1920 and you put it on some small laptop, might get slightly better. Otherwise it's a pain in the eye, as if you suddenly start looking for your glasses (I'm lens/glass free)
Here is one more And this is a bigger version of the other one, I think. + Show Spoiler +

those were just the comments I saw pertaining to the subject. pls dun b offended
It's actually not very hard to find out who's popular in Korea. # of CF's and Digital sales (in that order) are usually good indicators.
Sadly, it's not that easy, it kind of matters for what product the CF is. And leaving physical sales out of the picture and just looking at digital sales could be misleading because not all agencies focus on digital sales. Then there is public appeal, one thing that we as foreigners can hardly put a finger on. But to say any random Korean does, is stupid as well. Chances are that the average Korean is able to tell better than us, but I still wouldn't make any conclusions based on that. There are numerous other things that should be considered, but that would complicate things even more.
Can anyone recommend me some Han Soa-esque songs? I really like her two mini albums but I'm growing tired of listening to the same stuff over and over again.
Kpisate, they are having a comeback in Korea in the Fall. That's what it's probably for. However, it could also be for the solo (singles or albums?) that they are supposed to start releasing every month starting at the end of this month.
