I cringed as Taeyeon tried to belt out some christina aguilara type vocals. Baby Steps was pretty generic, bland, not really catchy. Not a bad song but something I won't listen to more than once or twice in my life by accident. Library has the same problems as baby steps. Overall I think this album has an identity crisis. I have no idea what they were trying to achieve, but it came out as pretty bland pop with vocals ranging from good (seohyun mostly) to horrible (taeyeon screaming). I just don't understand the purpose of this "subrgroup?" Seems like pretty generic SNSD album as of recent just without 6 other members. TwiTwi is the only song that actually stands out, and not really for good reasons. Would've rather seen a Seohyun solo album. Money. Half of SNSD are acting or doing other shit right now, this way you get them out there musically and you get another chart-topping album. edit- OT but I noticed a recent upsurge in popularity of UK boy band One Direction (in the US, to all the british folks here this might seem kind of ridiculous). Makes you think that people will be more receptive in the future to kpop. I mean, the language/accent is a huge barrier before but so was the whole "boy/girl groups are lame" thing. If theres another upsurge in popularity of pop groups that may change things.

I linked Miss A - Lips + Show Spoiler + How is this much different from the club music you'd hear? Not much really but they somehow still feel that it's "underaged girls singing shit" >< Basically same as any song that goes a bit like - DJ feat a female singer. I try so hard to promote Kpop within my friend groups (Caucasian) but they don't seem to like it still... Like ok I don't expect to like this more than anything else but for realz, it's not bad. As kpop has made a huge surge into the world over the years, a lot of people first took an interest in the music videos. Let's be honest, yellow fever is as big as ever. And it's no surprise that a lot of the music that I show to my friends are like "damnnn they're hot" and it definitely enticed them. After they got over that initial visual aid, they started to like the music itself more and more. I'd be lying to say that I didn't go through a similar process as well. Having said that, you're gonna have people that don't care for that sort of stuff and don't even give kpop a try. At that point, there's nothing you can do. EDIT: What I'm trying to say is once you establish a big following in Europe you can easily break out into the US market. N'Sync also did the same. With the amount of languages spoken in Europe I just love how they can just listen to any music regardless of what language it is. When I would visit Portugal the radio stations always played Spanish, French, and English music and it was pretty cool. Stuff that I would never hear in North America. EDIT: I discovered Juanes in Portugal in Summer 05 I think and it's because a PORTUGUESE radio station played SPANISH music. Not K-pop but enjoy + Show Spoiler +

+ Show Spoiler [Devuelveme a mi Chica] + + Show Spoiler [Playlist if anybody is interested] + Swinging things back into Korean music related material, does anybody here like ALi? I heard about her through LeeSsang since she was featured in some of their tracks in the album Black Sun. She is a really awesome singer and I'm enjoying listening to her in Immortal Song.

Also, about Girl's Day, I agree that Oh! My God isn't anything special of a song, but its very catchy, and for me that's enough to like it.

Nicole looked absolutely perfect on Inkigayo today. ![]() There's something in her eyes... That calms me. Gives me strength. Sometimes it... Stirs my soul. And captivates my heart. + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() ![]() Ah, so lovely. I'm really glad she's back dancing to her full potential with the group. Just too bad that there so far hasn't been much fancams from the Japanese concerts... Comeback in the fall, can't wait! So hard working.
