Well I've been listening to kpop at that rate for about 2 years now and I'm fine. Can never have enough kpop.

depends on the frame but for small frames (since most Korean people I've seen/met seem to have them) around 100-120 is listed as healthy. But then it also depends on how much of that is muscle etc. I guess.

Not really that into Hyosung, but she has a killer body. This coming from a guy that finds any amount of chubbiness a complete turn off. Not a conscious decision.

The only reason she catches flak is because every other idol is underweight, sometimes unhealthily so (Hyomin, Yoona come to mind)

The difference in some idols is that their bone structure makes them look extremly skinny(Nana,Yoona, Sunmi) come to mind, while most idols are in fact underweight.

I don't see why people like the look of being SUPER skinny like a twig like Yoona.. yeah she has the mesmerizing look.. but like... imagine her without clothes. You'd see friggin' skin and bones... ew.

Part of it is camera makes you look larger, so if you're slightly underweight you look pretty good on broadcast. Still though, they take it a little far. Might be a combo of hectic+active schedules as well as companies making everyone go on diets- I remember several groups talking about their diets, and sometimes they're even worse pre-debut. A-Pink comes to mind- they had everyone on one of those tiny salad, no dressing diets. Since salads are mostly lettuce, which are mostly water...they don't get much. And that includes girls like Na Eun, who already has like a 21 inch Goo Hara style waist. Doesn't make sense a lot of the time but whatever.

Also some magazine/official shoots then photoshop the girl to make them look even smaller, which is ridiculous.

There are definitely a number of underweight idols, especially with those who are tall(ish) and very thin. Female idols generally all claim their weight to be somewhere in the range of 45kg (~100lbs). Obviously, not all of them are honest.

A 5'1" girl at ~100lb is on the low end of a healthy weight, 110lbs more in the mid range of normal. 100lbs for even 5'2" is considered underweight and 110lbs is underweight for 5'5" and taller. These are rough estimations and it'll obviously vary from person to person with more factors than just height and weight.

Given the weight placed on looking thin and the controlled diets of some, it's no surprise that a number of them need to put on a few pounds.
