So basically there's this American company Swizz Beats that announced that they made a deal with South Korea's O.N. Media, aiming to promote Kpop in the west by making NA artists (Rihanna and stuff) collaborate with Kpop groups and artists such as BoA, KARA or 2NE1.
I don't know how serious this is but if they go through with it, I would really like to see a 2NE1/Rihanna collab given that 2NE1 would be the group that will have the least problems to be recognized in America. And if they know what they're doing, this next step could be less of an embarassment than what we've seen so far.
edit: Idiot should take his cap off. What a turd lol.
Swizz is dope with it. But you can tell he's doing this 100% just for the money. I don't believe he sees anything artistically 'dope' and that 'new expression' thing in KPop at all. He's just getting paid to do a job in my opinion.
Like lol seriously as a top producer, what can you really see in 2NE1, KARA, etc. As much as I love KARA, they are way better artists waiting for an opportunity in the U.S and anywhere else in the world. He can;t be looking at KPop groups and seriously be thinking that he's going to make something artistically great with them. He obviously just sees them selling like hot bread in Asia and wants in on some of that money...
And if you over-analyze this thing, you can tell he must have not listen to that much Korean music with his Korean pronunciation lol.
And with that being said I hope he ends up working and flopping with 2NE1, don't mess with my KARA.
But now that I think about it... On the flipside of things... If he can just work with Jay-Z and Rihanna and be 100% certain to sell a million records with them, why take a gamble with KPop ? ...A gamble that even if successful would probably never equal to what he can make from investing his time with already successful artists in NA.
hhmm... Starting to doubt my initials thoughts... I'd really love to have a talk with him right now

he also cites pioneers like yeezy helping jyj with that one track and it sounded like defecation coming out of a donkey so that should give you an idea of what he's aiming for.
@tuelite frankly he's utter shit now. the biggest tracks Swizz Beats has produced recently are 'murder to excellence', 'welcome to the jungle', and 'so appalled' which were all pretty bad compared to his earlier stuff. Don't even get me started on 'on to the next one', that single track ruined bp3 for me. Also I don't even want to remember the stuff he did with drake or team breezy. the guy is washed up #rilltalk.
I just checked Swizz's Twitter page. He's bigging up a lof of Korean artists, talking about Korea a lot. The first page of his timeline is only Reebok and Korea related stuff. He's def a good promoter lol O.N. invested well. https://twitter.com/#!/THEREALSWIZZZ

Yes, I'm sure everyone here feels the same, hence why they got into KPop in the first place, because it's different.
However, KPop could definitely use better production overall. Sometimes the instrumentals just have me shaking my head in confusion. Looks like they made some of them from IPod applications or something.
Miss Info replied to my questioning on her website and wrote this:
I think everyone wants to work with folks in Asia…and it may have some financial allure because there’s always the illusion of “grass is greener” rich Asian business people etc etc….But more importantly, everyone wants to just be more global. It expands your viability overseas, it spreads your brand around, and it actually seems lower risk because the perceptions of American celebrity overseas is usually bigger and easier to maintain because they’re not measuring every daily up and down the way that the American media is. Yo, no one out pioneers Kanye! He's the greatest of all time! And he's under the Kobe system. Watch him debut a Korean boy band in the US in 6 months. Bank on it!
You have worked hard today (patpat) hihi There is a lack of time to live well Lets be a person overflowing with hwaiting all the time!!♥ + Show Spoiler +
Only reason I know Swizz Beats is because he is Alicia Keys' husband. 2NE1 collab with Rihanna...no thanks, there's already enough autotuned 'eh eh eh' in 2NE1 songs as it is.
edit: Besides, who needs Swizz Beats when you have this

I'm not much of Rihanna fan but it's rather presumptuous to criticize her for autotuning while we're in a Kpop thread.
If kpop wants to succeed in America all they have to do is hold more concerts. There is plenty of fans all over USA and Canada willing to go to these events, yet they instead look for ways to get into mainstream american music.
When Americans go overseas they don't change all their songs to the language of the country they are in because it ruins the integrity of the music and nobody likes a terrible accent. If kpop wants to grow their foreign fanbse they should continue making awesome music and producing good groups. Have they not been selling out shows? NYC was a huge success wasn't it? Maybe I am missing some information and I'll happily be corrected but for the love of all that is right in this world, stop trying to immerse kpop into mainstream american pop.
I want kpop to stay the way it is, because isn't that part of what makes it special in the first place? Maybe I'm naive, maybe it is possible to succeed in America, but I feel like kpop would lose everything I love about it in the process.

I like Kpop because it's in Korean. It just sounds nice to me. If I hear an idol singing an English song, however good their accent is, it leaves me absolutely cold. A bit of Engrish in the chorus is cute, but anything more and I won't play it again. Japanese remakes don't interest me either, I would listen to Jpop if I wanted that.
Not excited about any prospect of Kpop stars becoming global. I hope they all give up on the idea and focus on making Korean music before they embarrass themselves.
I somewhat agree with you, Vorgrim.... I cringe inside and go ughhhhh asdifjaskjfa;ls when I hear really bad accents in English.... I think they should just forget English and stick to Korean if they go global rofl.
