Disclaimer: I love both groups, don't turn this into something bad.
It's my understanding that SoYeon was to be a part of SNSD and she had left months before their debut. With this being said do you think it would have been more beneficial for SoYeon to be a part of SNSD and be, in my opinion, a top 3 singer in a very popular group or the path she took where she is the best, once again my opinion, singer in a less popular group. I can only see T-ara's popularity rising as well in the coming years. Where as SNSD might have peaked in Korea?
It's hard for me to guage just how popular T-ara is from Vancouver, and the impact they have in Korea, however I would think it's safe to assume that they're no where near SNSD popularity.
SoYeon is an example, I'm sure there are other cases like this one.
While I imagine SoYeon in SNSD to be pretty awesome, I don't think it make sense to speculate how group x with person y would have turned out.
I also think that SNSD's popularity has peaked but imo they'll be able to maintain it for at least 2-3 more years and I expect to to disband or temporary split in the upcoming 5 years. Apart from SNSD I don't see any other (girl)group out of the current roster to be as popular and the defining group of their respective era. Especially with the idol group flooding we had last year. Like Fin.k.l and SES were the original girl idols, and SNSD the group of the Hallyu Wave.

become just another vocalist in a group already saturated by what the general public perceives to be "good vocalists"? lol

are you insinuating that T-ara are good vocalists or SNSD? Because i think its general concensus that they are not, and by that i mean across the board.
Too many recent uploads, try again later. I hate imgur...
I would have posted some HSY but... Imgur is being a pain to work with. Just waiting for KARAGRAPHER's pics now... Saving the best for last I see their plan...

People say snsd are good vocalists but aside from taeyeon they're average to terrible...some of the others get hyped but that's just a byproduct of the group being so popular... Don't think it would have mattered either way.
John park went to my high school so it's effing weird to see him in a popular entertainment context... Songs not bad either.
After I posted I realized that I forgot about krystal but well I think Nicole's are better ^^ I'll gladly pay more attention to krystal when she turns 18.

people consider seohyun taeyeon jessica and tiffany to be good singers, so I would would obv assume the latter. the only implication I made is to say they are all extremely overrated.
I don't know about Krystal's abs but I wouldn't want Nicole to be more muscular than how she is right now. She has the perfect figure, she should just maintain it. Could maybe even use a little more meat.

In terms of personal preference, yes. But reputation as a main/good singer matters a lot in terms of opportunities and overall public perception- it can get you solo promotions, OST tracks, just plain attention (Hyorin, Taeyeon). So it does matter.
